What a special experience. Kata was a fantastic host. Extremely knowledgeable, funny and totally down to earth. She made us feel right at home. The tour of the market was great. More importantly this is where locals buy food. The cooking class was really fun. My wife and I were fortunate to be the only students. We left with a wonderful experience and recipes for a life time. Don’t miss this in Budapest.

Fun and delicious

The market was so incredible to visit. The history of the building and the old photos was fascinating. Our time cooking and learning new recipes was so worth it to have a special lunch.
Fantastic

Loves the whole experience. Shopping in the market to the history and cooking. Even went back to the market for shopping later.
A highlight of our 10 day trip to the region

We loved walking through the market and tasting foods we’d never have tried on our own. We were also amazed at how much we were able to cook! Not a moment of our time together was wasted. Our guide/ chef, Kata, did a great job of accommodating our group’s food allergies (gluten in one case; fish, sesame, and nuts in another). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, learned some new skills (eg. making “dumplings”), and tried many new foods.
Food Tour with a Twist

We were looking for something different way to do a food tour in Budapest and found this activity. It was amazing to see the small local market (which was the Ruins Bar location at night) and pick up snacks to try. Then we got to make a 4 course meal and it was delicious. The chicken paprikash was so good and I look forward to making it at home. Our guide was informative and made the cooking process so easy. Definitely a fun way to experience Hungarian food!

The market shopping was fun, and we enjoyed learning how to cook home style Hungarian food. The class was relaxed and informative, but the level of cooking was rather basic, not gourmet.

This experience was incredible. A four hour delightful afternoon that was the highlight of a ten day Danube Cruise. Our teacher-chef Zita was engaging, informative, and very accommodating. Wonderful conversation, cultural connections and great food. As awesome the beautiful sites in Budapest, for lasting memories, connect with Hungarians who live there. This experience will be unforgettable and more lasting than all the photographs you can take.

We had a bit of a rocky start because of email issues initially but Viator acknowledged their oversight which was no reflection on the tour operator at all and 'made things right' for us. Bravo Viator for stepping up! As for the tour itself, we absolutely loved the Market walk and class. Cecilia was wonderful. The Market walk was really incredible because I was introduced to new products that I'd never seen or used before. Major bonus! And although we had visited that Market twice before on our own, her connections with the vendor/s showered us even more special treatment in terms of samples, history and origins of particular ingredients. At the professional kitchen, we experienced an authentic execution and delivery of Hungarian recipes. The recipes were seamless in presentation and the time just flew by. We rolled out stuffed, contented and thrilled to have made a wonderful friendship with our hostess. This was an absolutely fabulous experience and one of the highlights of our stay.

Cecilia was our tour guide at the Great Market Hall and taught us about Hungarian culture and shared family recipes with us. She is so genuinely nice and friendly. What really got me was that she invited us to bring our little French bulldog to the cooking class! She picked us up and she didn't have to but offered and we accepted and even took us back to the apartment after the class! When she picked us up, she even brought a blanket for our dog to have in the car while we toured the market. We made so much food and she packed it all up for us and we ate leftovers Hungarian food is even better as leftovers! for Christmas Eve dinner at our apartment. We learned a lot and had a really great, unique and memorable Christmas Eve experience.

Easy Cooking Budapest class was so much fun. Cecila began by taking us to the food market and showing us local foods and explaining the history of the building. Her kitchen is wonderful and has everything to make the class enjoyable including excellent Hungarian wine. Everyone in class was given a chance to participate and the final products were delicious. Best of all we were provided with the recipes and a goodie bag to take home with us. I recommend this class to anyone wishing a break from the regular tourist activities. Best when shared with friends.
