Chizuru was a fantastic tour guide in taking us around Shinjuku. She took the time to explain how to eat each of the dishes, and made sure we were all taken care of throughout the evening. We ate a ton of delicious food that we may not have thought to try ourselves. We’d definitely recommend this tour and Chizuru!

Amazing Food Tour

We had an amazing time on our food tour Chizuru! She did a great job taking us to many different places and explaining the different foods. We received a large amount of differing foods on the tour. I highly recommend doing this tour on your visit to Japan.

A tasty tour through bustling Shinjuku

It was awesome having Max as our tour guide through a few favorite food stops in Shinjuku. We first passed through the iconic Golden Gai in Shinjuku's famous Kabukicho to get a feel for the small bars that lined the alleyways. The first food stop was a small sample of tonkatsu (deep fried Japanese pork cutlet) also in the kabukicho area. This was followed with an amazing okonomiyaki experience where the chef prepared the dishes in front of us. The highlight of this tour was the amazingly fresh sushi we had at Takamaru Sengyoten. Delicious!

Izumi took us on a true culinary experience into the Tokyo cuisine.In a pleasant way with good english she explained the dishes , as we moved between restaurants. Everything was well organized and quick and the dishes where exquisite .

Enjoyed seeing the back alleys of Shinjuku. This was an interesting tour and Chambliss kept us well-informed about what we were seeing. I do not believe the description of the tour was as accurate as it could have been. Should have been upfront about all the walking that was required and that the tour included a walking tour of this neighborhood. The first restaurant we went to was so small the entire group could not sit together so we were relegated to bar stools and couldn't hear a lot of what Chambliss was describing. That first restaurant also had too much food, though it was very tasty. Loved the Waygu beef! We believe the groups should have been smaller so everyone could interact and sit together. We had 9 people in our group. I think 5-6 people would be much more palatable. We did not go to the 2nd and 3rd restaurants because we were already full, couldn't handle walking any more and generally did not feel a part of the group. The group had 2 families - we were the only couple.

Great time, led by Ayaka. She was high energy, informative, and fun. The walk through the old alleys of Shinjuku and the escort bars set the context. Then we hit her favorite small spots for a range of great food and drink. A full evening resulting in full bellies and lots of laughs.

My wife, Daughter and I had a fantastic time. The food tour was delicious and more importantly our tour guide Chizuru has been amazing. She’s perfectly bilingual and very entertaining. Not to mention the great company of other groups that were with us. If you want to experience a great introduction or confirmation of Japanese food this is the root to book upon your arrival.

The your was very interesting, lots of information about the bar, izakaya and entertainment scene. Food was absolutely great, some known stuff, and some things we'd never try on our own (fresh bonito, chicken collagen soup). Drinks were nice with multiple choices in every venue to suit any palate. Our guide, Chizuru, was super friendly and forthcoming, and took some great photos to help us remember this great experience.

Our tour guide Chi made our tour both interesting and fun. Not only was there a variety of delicious foods (with accompanying drinks), we also got a nice walking tour of the Shinjuku area and she pointed out many spots we could return to later. Overall a wonderful experience!

Awesome experience. Our guide, Rie, took us to several restaurants where we enjoyed a curated menu of delicious food and drinks. As we walked between each restaurant, we got a guided tour through Shinjuku's history. I would recommend this food tour to everyone.

Rie, our tour guide, took us on many little side trips around Shinjuku (Golden Gai, Kabuchiko, Memory Lane) and gave us fun facts even outside of the places we stopped for food. She was so knowledgeable and personable. She knew where to find the freshest fish from the fishmonger, the best pork katsu and dumplings, and recommended some amazing drinks to pair with the meals. Cannot recommend highly enough!
