I loved it! It was a great way to visit Wailua Falls. We were the only paddle boarders out there because most were kayakers. But, I highly recommend this mode of transport :-). However, you do need to be a little more fit and this should be considered exercise. Paddling back against the wind is not for the fainthearted. As a woman, there were moments where I felt I couldn't make progress. My husband did just fine. My brother-in-law kneeled and did just fine, too. But, the river is an easy paddle and you don't have much to challenge your balance. It took about an hour to get to the trailhead on paddle. Then, the hike is about 1.2 miles in. The path had incurred a lot of damage with a recent storm that washed away a lot, but was definitely manageable. Maybe not for someone who is not steady on their feet. Round trip, door-to-door was 5 hours. Overall, it was a great experience and would absolutely do it again.
Can be a tough paddle but the falls are worth it!

I found the paddle boarding very enjoyable. My kids thought it was a little long, it was pretty windy so that made it sort of difficult. The hike to secret falls was fun, and pretty easy. The boards on the path were super helpful. The paddle is hard work but the falls are worth the work! Beautiful and refreshing. It was busy but people were all great about taking turns behind the falls for pictures. Highly recommend either SUP board or Kayak depending on how you like to navigate the water.

Absolutely one of the best adventures our family has been on yet!! Truly my kind of playground!!! Definitely thankful we packed plenty of water, food and sunscreen. Water/hiking shoes a must!!

This was a great experience. The only part that we did not like is that we were told by viator that we would be provided with lunch and we were not given lunch.

AJ was wonderful. He gave very detailed instructions and made us feel very confident. Paddling back in the upwind was VERY challenging. But it gave you such a great sense of accomplishment by the end.

This was such an adventure! Dont take the word adventure lightly! It requires a lot of energy and maybe some paddleling experience since you will have to do it for a whikle, i personally would not reccomend this for begginers. Maybe try kayk if youre beggining & still wana go on am adventure. Anyway so the waterfalls once u finallt get there are breath taking. Take it all in and enjoy the wonders of the world! Feels like heaven on earth. Such quiet peace, great force from the waterfalls hitting your back (if you dare to get close) . So awesome!!

Great trip. Logistically easy given explanation provided by “Hawaiian Brian”! Highly recommend! Bring good shoes for the short hike (no flip flops). Paddle back much harder than paddle forward. Do secret falls first, followed by very short paddle to fern grotto. Very limited traffic at the falls on the weekend.

Had a great time paddling up the river and hiking! Transporting the boards was easier than expected, so don’t worry too much about that. We had a Dodge Charger and it was fine. Hike to secret falls was easy and the payoff was well worth it!!

It was quick and easy to get in and out within about ten min. The man who worked there was so great and took extra time explaining things to us newbies and helping us with a smaller board for our eight year old. He explained exactly how to get to places, the issues we may run into with a younger kid, etc. We of course had a great time on the river as well even when we had to tow our son back by the leash lol. Definitely will be doing this again! Don't skip this one y'all!

It was a great experience for our girls. They loved the waterfall❤️ The hike was a little challenging but well worth it. The gentleman who helped us (sorry did not get his name) was courteous and helpful.

I called “riator” to book 2 paddle sessions w/ Stand Up Paddle Rental- Wailua River to Secret Falls and spoke with a gentleman . It was later in the day, so I specific ask when they closed. I was to get there by 6 PM. We purchased the excursion and got there at 3 PM but the place was closed. Called the number on the door. The man I spoke with was extremely rude. Instead of apologizing he suggested it was my fault they were closed because I didn’t book a day before the excursion. I do not recommend.

Brian was very courteous and friendly. He helped us promptly to load the boards onto our car and explained well how to find the dock and get up on the board. The rest was up to us to experience. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the tour!
