Our guide Brian was fun and energetic. The kayaking was relatively easy as the water is very still. The hike was a challenge as the path is slippery after any rain. But still easy enough for someone used to light to moderate physical activity. Waterfall was breathtaking and worth the journey. Definitely recommend going behind the waterfall if you are able.

Awesome experience!
Cecilia_L, Apr 2024
We had Zach as our guide and he was the best! We had done some kayaking prior to this but Zach taught us a lot of strategies we had never been taught before, which made kayaking more enjoyable for us. It's a beautiful little trip down the Wailua River and to us it felt like the perfect length. One of our favorite Kauai adventures.
Super Fun for All!

This excursion was super awesome! My partner and I had the best time! The hike was not hard - do wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes, you’ll be walking through bits of the river and walking around rocks. Perfect mix of kayaking and hiking!
Amazing guide

Zach was an amazing guide and had great information about the area. Would highly recommend this activity.
Fun and easy
Djoana_S, Apr 2024
We enjoyed this tour so much! Zach was our guide and he was so fun! He had endless amount of jokes which made our tour fun and easy. The kayaking part was super easy, a little harder on our way back because of the headwind but still very manageable, this is coming from me who’s done kayaking only twice in my life. The hiking trail was easy, a couple of stream crossings but guide provided us walking sticks so it made it easier, some of the trail have boardwalk so you are not walking on slippery muddy trail. Will do this again!
Great trip

WAILUA RIVER ADVENTURE
Michael_D, Apr 2024
Our guide Zack was terrific. Funny, helpful and informative. Kayaking was enjoyable but harder than it looks. The hike to the waterfalls was easy and the water was clean and refreshing to swim in I highly recommend this experience. Book with Zack at Duke's Kayak
Unforgettable Kayaking Adventure with Breathtaking Views and Exceptional Guide
Faran_V, Apr 2024
Our kayaking trip was an absolute delight, largely due to the stunning scenery and our wonderful guide, Zac. From the moment we set out, the views were simply amazing, offering a spectacular panorama of nature's beauty that seemed to evolve with every paddle stroke. The accompanying hike was just as impressive, providing an invigorating challenge and the reward of even more incredible vistas.
Kayak and hike adventure!
Lloyd_T, Apr 2024
Super fun adventure, the kayak and hike were far enough to feel like you accomplished something, but not so far that you were exhausted the next day. Zack our guide was super helpful and added so much information about the area. Great trip and one we would do again.
Fun but a few things to know…
Barbara_O, Apr 2024
The waterfall was beautiful. We were there in the off season and yet there were still way too many people. The terrain is quite rocky (ankle breakers) and muddy and slippery. Don’t carry a lot of stuff with you as the dry bag gets heavy. We were hoping to learn about flora and fauna but that didn’t happen. I’d do it again but I’d change how I’d prepare for hiking part (I’d wear much better shoes - we wore water shoes.) Do not wear flip flops or sandals!! Overall it was worth it but remember that this excursion attracts a LOT of people in the on season.
Worth the effort
Jeremy_W, Apr 2024
Kayaking was wonderful. Not easy when with little ones. Guide and trip overall were wonderful. Guide was late 20 minutes though with no real apology which was frustrating.
Great trip!
Monica_D, Apr 2024
Our guide, Hawaiian Brian, was a delight and dealt well with our multi-aged family group, even though he was called in to sub at the last minute. He cut walking sticks for the older hikers, coached us through kayak handling, instructed us how to go through slippery mud so we wouldn’t slide, and kept us entertained the whole way! He also took great pictures of all combinations of family members at the falls!
“Best Kayak/Hike Ever”
Joseph_M, Apr 2024
Entire trip! Excellent Guide and tons of insight along the way! Highly recommend Brian “Hawaiian” Safe trip down the river and the hike was great!
Fun day outing
Gena_S, Apr 2024
We had an amazing time on our tour with Zach! He did a great job preparing us for what was ahead. Even though we have been kayaking before he gave us tips to make our 2 mile journey go even smoother. The hike to the falls was muddy but very manageable and it was fun going through different stream crossings. The falls were beautiful and the journey back was great. We were told due to wind that it would be a very difficult journey back but because it wasn’t as windy as expected we made it and didn’t need the tugboat to get us like we had feared at one point. It was a great day out with different activities and amazing scenery! Highly recommend doing this tour!
Great time!
Catherine_B, Apr 2024
28-62 year olds did well on this trip! Kayak portion was awesome and not too difficult. Hike was not really a hike but a trail. It’s slippery and you have to cross rivers and climb over rocks. We loved it!
Family friendly fun!
Tim_S, Apr 2024
Zack wad an awesome guide, knowledgeable and fun- and full of "dad jokes" to keep us entertained. Suggest doing the early-ish tour so there are fewer people up at the waterfall!
Amazing activity
Alisha_U, Apr 2024
The trip was fabulous. You definitely need to be up for physical activity because it’s a few hours of kayaking and a few hours of hiking but so fun and beautiful. Highly recommend.
Highly Recommend
Cheri_B, Apr 2024
Our tour guide, Annie, was amazing. Warm, welcoming and good at telling funny stories. 2.5 mile kayaking experience upstream to engage in a mile hike (pretty slippery at times - especially after rain), We encountered pretty heavy rain on the return kayak trip, but it was actually a lot of fun. Wear water shoes or those hiking shoes that are sort of like sandals. Highly recommend.
Beautiful & fun!
Sharon_M, Mar 2024
Brian was our tour guide and he was great! Very knowledgable, nice and lots of fun! Would recommend this to everyone. Very beautiful! The hike was a little harder than I thought it would be, but very worth it!
Fun and relaxing with a workout
Jenni_V, Mar 2024
Great experience and great workout. Our guide was funny and informative. He gave go suggestions and kept us on track and out of the traffic of other people. He gave good instructions and great stories. The hike was really peaceful and our guide shared a lot of good pics he took of the group.
