We decided to do this to maybe learn a little and have some Japanese sake. We didn’t know much of what to expect, but it was by far one of the best things we did in Kyoto! Kotaro was incredibly knowledge and patient with all of our questions. We learned so much, and got to taste tons of delicious drinks. I highly recommend if you are in Kyoto, take this tour!

This was a great tour....

This was a great tour. Momoke did a great job and was so knowledgeable! A friend recommended this and I'm glad we did it. We learned so much about sake and got to drink a lot of it too!
Highly recommend this tour

This experience was incredible. We learned so much about Sake through the core tour and tasting, but also through the questions I was able to ask throughout. I've been on countless brewery (beer), winery and distillery tours, but hadn't had the opportunity to learn about how sake is made. This tour was perfect. Greg (our guide) was very knowledgeable and charismatic. Not only did he teach us all about the process, but he provided helpful guides and tips that we can take forward in buying and experiencing sake back in the states. Highly recommend this tour.
A highlight from our trip!

Greg was an awesome guide. Was super informative and catered to all levels of sake drinkers. Tried about 12 sakes total, food pairing was super interesting. Highly recommend and would book the advanced class if we were here longer.
Great sake experience

Such a great experience. Had Greg as our tour guide and he taught me so much about sake that I didn’t know! Got a pretty sizable amount of sake in the tasting and would definitely recommend to anyone!
Great experience - lots...

Great experience - lots of sake drinking and lots of education on sale and it’s history. Greg, our guide, was knowledgeable and fun.
Super Insightful Sake Tour!

I learned so much from this experience! The museum itself was very cool with a lot of information, and it was very nice having a guided tour of it. I enjoyed learning about the history and methods of making sake. The tasting was very extensive, and they even gave us a cheat sheet to use for future guidance. I only wish we could have seen inside the sake brewery and learned more about the modern day practice of making sake as well. If you are interested in sake, would recommend!
Great

Great tour. Highly recommended. Greg was really good at explaining the different types of sake. Includes a cheat sheet card which is useful for putting the learning to use later on in the trip.
Gotta try this!

A Great Into to Sake
David_F, Apr 2024
This is a great way for beginners to learn all about the brewing process of sake. It's a complicated process but Momoko was able to make it simple and easy to understand. An interactive tour with a few "only in Kyoto" samplings made this a great way to be able to begin to appreciate sake. She even offered to email us the information so we didn't have to worry about remembering everything and could focus on enjoying the experience.
Amazing

A wonderful education on sake production paired with a great tasting-a terrific experience. Our guide brought everything to life
one of the best tours I did on my trip

really enjoyable experience - start out in a museum to learn how its made (does not feel like too much info / too long at a museum). then the tasting is close by and so much fun. you try without food and then with food to see the difference...really learned a lot. my dad and I would love to do it again
My husband and I booked...

My husband and I booked this Sake experience on our honeymoon in Kyoto. We love Sake and got to taste a ton of sakes and learned so much about the process! The guides were really knowledgable and very friendly! We tasted sake with and without food. It was such a fun way to spend the afternoon!
A great way to learn about sake!
Hannah_B, Mar 2024
We had the best experience with Momoko as our guide! She was so sweet and knowledgeable. The tour started with a guided tour through the sake museum and included three tastings and a cute tasting cup! My husband’s tasting cup somehow got stuck in his coat pocket and everyone on the tour tried to help him get it open! When everyone had failed, Momoko got him a new cup so he could still taste the sake! After the museum tastings, she guided us on a 5 minute walk to our private tasting room. There we enjoyed 7 sakes, snacks to pair, and learned all the ins and outs of the different kinds of sakes. It really was a great way to spend an afternoon and I highly recommend booking this!
Absolutely brilliant!
RALUCA_G, Mar 2024
Absolutely brilliant afternoon spent with Greg. He knows so much about sake and has a great way of explaining all the complicated details surrounding it. Would definitely recommend!
Kyoto fun
Emily_j, Mar 2024
We loved our afternoon with Greg. He was very knowledgeable and kind. My boyfriend, who is an avid sake drinker, learned new information and we tried many sakes. I previously thought I didn’t like sake and I walked away with a new appreciation for sake. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon! We learned a lot and had fun. It has been fun to use our new knowledge on the rest of our Japan trip.
Worth the value

Covered a full array of history, sake making process, how to read the bottle, tasting notes with and without food pairing all with a congenial guide. A good amount of tastings.
Very informative tour.
Shitley_F, Mar 2024
It was a very interesting tour. Our favorite part of experiences were tasting Sake, as well as, learning about the variety of Sake and how to read bottle labels.
Fun and Delicious!
Maria_C, Mar 2024
This was such a wonderful tour. I had drunk sake in the past, but knew absolutely nothing about it. This tour changed all that. The tour guides were knowledgable and passionate about sake. The tour of the museum was informative and enjoyable. We had some tastings right there in the museum and then walked a short distance to a local restaurant where the real sake tasting began. We were given "cheat sheets" to help us identify different elements of a sake and then taken through a lesson on how to read the salient parts of a sake label in Japanese. It was a really hands-on and relaxing way to learn about all the different typse of sake, what type we liked the best, and then how to identify a bottle in the store. And then the food pairing! They brought out a tray of different tastes that we paired with the different sakes and it was phenomenal. They were small bites, but absolutely delicious. I am vegan and they were very accommodating - I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. If you are even somewhat hesitating to book this tour - just book it! It is so worth it! I will be taking this tour again the next time I'm in Kyoto.
Learned a lot!

This was an excellent overview of the sake brewing process, followed by tastings of a wide variety of styles of sake.
