Not great.
Karla_A, Apr 2024
Guide was not helpful, just a bus ride. Go for the train. Cheaper, less time requirement and you don’t have to be on a bus for hours. Worst excursion I’ve ever done.
A nice day but a bit disappointing
Maile_M, Dec 2023
Too much time was spend in Lucca and not enough time in Pisa. Additionally we had a problem with our prepaid tickets for the tower so we ended up not being able to go into it nor the Cathedral. Viator made good and refunded us for the location tickets. Additional note, in Pisa there is a ramblng 15+ min walk from the bus to the square which we were escorted to by our guide, but we were left to find our way back. We should have been provided a map or the guide meet us where she left us off. Given only 90 minutes in Pisa, where substantial time was spent talking to/from the bus, it was impossible to really explore. Lucca was lovely but we could have easily spent 30-45 min less time there giving more time at Pisa. A nice day but a bit disappointing.
Wonderful tour of Tuscany!

Had a great day with Federico! Our cruise ship arrived nearly two hours late, but the excursion was pushed back to accommodate the delay. Federico was friendly and helpful and offered great information throughout our tour. Because of the late start, we just barely missed our Tower of Pisa entrance window, but Federico took charge and spoke to the Tower staff for us to get us admitted. We enjoyed a delicious authentic Italian lunch and some shopping in Lucca and marveled at standing on the top of the Tower in Pisa. AND - BONUS! - Federico and our driver George, had the connections to take us directly back to the ship in port! A huge help at the end of a full day of sightseeing!
Great tour

Guide very personable & knowledgeable. Ship docked an hour late & new schedule was quickly accommodated by tour operator.
Well worth the tour
Janine_P, Nov 2023
It was a very nice picturesque informative tour. It well organized and an easy day. I would recommend this tour.
Disappointing at best
Lori_A, Nov 2023
This tour started out well, but was sorely lacking in timing and in knowledge of the "guide". We spent at least an hour to long in Lucca, which then left barely enough time at the Pisa stop. We had to park quite a distance away from the square, then had to get in line to put bags into a locker, then had to stand in line to get into the tower. We barely had 20 minutes to climb 300 steps up, see the view, then rush down to run back to the bus. Our ticket included a visit to the Duomo, but there was NO time even to look inside it. I feel like we were cheated. In addition, the very nice young man who was our escort was NOT an official tour guide and was not allowed to speak to us about ANY history of the places we visited, only to point out various buildings and some monuments. We were VERY disappointed with this tour, and I asked for a partial refund, which was refused. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Bus there and back basically
Erin_R, Oct 2023
3 hrs in Lucca 1 hr in Pisa Don’t do the walking tour part because they don’t tell you anything more than what they told you on the bus We were late getting back and missed the cutoff time for the shuttles back to the ship but luckily the driver had a connection on the port and dropped us off at the ship
Lucca was the highlight
Michelle_S, Oct 2023
Lucca was a wonderful town to explore. I wish we had had more time there due to activities (walking or biking the wall), wandering the streets, and touring the sites. Our guide Kico was outstanding.
LUCCA was a quaint village and our tour guide FEDERICO made the day informative and fabulous
Diane_D, Oct 2023
Frederico Was an amazing tour guide. Highly recommend him to anyone. We enjoyed LUCCA very much. Pisa was also very quaint
Visiting on your own.
Martin_L, Oct 2023
You basically pay for a bus ride to Luca and Pisa. The tour leader as he calls himself (because he is not officially a guide), gives some informations on the bus but once you are in the two cities you are on your own. You can walk with him in Lucca but there is no information given except for the names of the different places you walk by. Lucca is a very beautiful medieval city and is worth the trip. Pisa is something you have to see once in your life but is not as interesting as other cities in Italy.
Fabulous day in Lucca & Pisa
Phyllis_L, Oct 2023
Lucca is beautiful! Enjoyed a delicious meal in an outdoor cafe. Pisa was crowded, but the sites are beautiful.
We loved Lucca, Pisa not so much
Karen_E, Sep 2023
The guide walked away from everyone. If we had actually wanted to listen to anything he said we would have had to run. Probably would be best I'd there were small groups (as advertised) or microphones. We ended up going on our own in Lucca. In Pisa, we couldn't keep up with him and ended up getting stuck at the train. The tower was about a mile from the bus, and I wish more info was given about the walk. I have a bad knee and would've skipped the entire stop. So touristy and too many hawkers along the way.
The tour guide, Federico...

The tour guide, Federico Cosci was beyond fabulous. He made the trip mreenjoyable by simply loving his job.
Big bus, big group, big headaches!
sharonamarshall4, Sep 2023
We booked this excursion in April, 5 months early. We were stunned to find out that the town square meeting point is actually a meeting point for people who purchased this excursion from many different sellers and we ended up on a large bus, rather than a small group tour. Some people just purchased their tickets minutes before boarding the bus. We headed to Lucca first. It’s a lovely little medieval walled town. In our group we’re two families with very young children. At one point, one of the adults with children started yelling at Fredericko, our guide, to slow down, that the children couldn’t keep up. First of all, Fredericko was NOT going too fast. Secondly, if you join a walking tour, you need to be able to WALK!! Leave the children at home if they can’t keep up or you don’t have a stroller. We were given free time for lunch and shopping and Fredericko was very clear about where and when to meet. He even passed around a sign up sheet so he had everyone’s cell number and made us all note his, in case we got lost. One couple were 15 minutes late to our meeting point. Fred tried calling several times. No answer. So we left. He received a call from missing tourist. Fred explained we waited an extra 15 minutes but would return. The missing couple were clearly told to wait OUTSIDE the walls, where the bus had been. We drove by as Fred was on the phone saying he didn’t see them outside. We tried a second time. Still no late people. At this point, Fred called them again and explained they’d have to take a cab or train and meet us in Pisa. These are adults! If they can’t make the meeting time, despite 52 others on the tour being there, they should not waste our time even more with us driving by twice looking for them! Freericko did a great job pointing things out to us. The time in each town was perfect. If I had known we’d be on a big bus tour, I would not have booked it.
Lucca was an unexpected...
Arthur_H, Sep 2023
Lucca was an unexpected pleasure. We were not familiar with it at all but would highly recommend it to anyone visiting that part of Italy. And of course Pisa was a clear bucket list item checked off. Only issue was getting back to the bus parking area was not well marked at all.
Great!
Edward_M, Sep 2023
Lucca is now one of our favorite places! It was wonderful and our tour guide, Fredrico was humorous and a great guy and and helped enhanced our experience.
Would be nice to add Florence to this tour
Carmina_M, Aug 2023
Federico dis the tour in 4 languages! Quite impressive ! He also shared musical talent with us. This tour is bot for elderly people as it requires a lot of walking and Federico walls fast. He had to come back for the elderly people.
Below par service
William_S, Jul 2023
When arriving to meeting place it was very disorganized and chaotic and some of the employees were not helpful and unpleasant. We selected the walking tour which unfortunately was not informative. Guide basically walk you to spots and tells you the name and continue to the next place. In regards to timing they did got us back on time to our cruise which the highlight was that we didn’t have to get a separate shuttle.
Pleasant and interesting.
Ray_W, Jul 2023
Lucca is a lovely village but unfortunately it was so hot the asphalt was melting. It was worse at Pisa but the tour was otherwise excellent. We only did the self guided walk and only got confused and lost a few times in Lucca. Guide was Federico who provided entertainment and information we did not expect on a transfer only ticket.
Lucca and Pisa
