What To Expect

With this self-guided experience, you have the benefits of choosing between two morning departure times, and exploring Pisa at your own pace. Get picked up near Piazza del Municipio in Livorno by air-conditioned coach with onboard Wi-Fi and settle in for the roughly 30–minute ride to Pisa.

Then, you have about 2.5 hours to explore Piazza dei Miracoli, where you can visit the Pisa Cathedral, the Baptistery of St. John, and the Leaning Tower (own expense), or relax in the public spaces in the square.

If you choose the Leaning Tower option, you’ll have a reserved entrance ticket to the famed attraction when you arrive.

Good, but Crowded bus

The return trip back wasn't so great. We arrived back at the bus with 15 mins before departure and the bus was almost completely full. There were four scattered seats remaining so my family couldn't sit together. The bus was supposed to be reserved for just the people who arrived on it.. That was clearly not the case.

Badly organised tour resulting in us paying TWICE to gain access to the inside of the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Badly organised. When I and my wife arrived at the Meeting Point the GREEN T-SHIRT staff issued us a ticket confirming that the trip included Access to the Pisa Leaning Tower, the latter which we have paid for. On arriving at the Pisa Coach Park the coach lady guide us to the town of Pisa. Here we were supposed to meet an expert escort but he/she was not there. We were left to wander around the town. We wanted to go up the Leaning Tower of Pisa and showed the guard our ticket (see above paragraph), but he said that’s not a ticket and instead directed us to the ticket office. I showed the paperwork issued by the GREEN T-SHIRT staff which clearly stated that I have paid for Access to the Leaning Tower. The ticket office staff did not accept it, and so we have to buy 2 tickets costing Euro 40. We bought 2 tickets for Euro 40, which we feel should be refunded by Viator. I have both the documents to prove that.

Long walk to the leaning tower but no coaches etc were able to get closer. You had to find your own way to the site and back.Signs on road weren’t very clear and no map or route given

The trip was on time and the bus was comfortable. We left at 10 AM. Arrived at 10:45 to the bus stop in Pisa. It would have been nice to know that it was almost a 1 mile walk from the bus parking lot to the leaning tower. We met at the bus parking lot at 1:15 and arrived back in Liverno at 2 o’clock.

Tour departed almost 30 minutes late. Maps for Pisa were not offered to us when boarding or leaving bus.. Onboard Wi-Fi password didn't work for anyone seated near us.. Instructions for time to return to the bus were quickly delivered at start of tour in Livnoro but we're not clear and hard to hear on upper deck of bus..They were not repeated nor was anything said on arrival at Pisa when everyone got off. Overall not impressed.

Cheap but disorganized

This is not a tour. It’s only a bus trip. They are very disorganized. They are unclear about when an where pickups will be. We missed our return bus like several others. We only got back because another driver with a different tour had 2 others left behind. It’s about the best price you will find though.

The excursion to Pisa was nice and generally without problem. The issue we encountered which fully lowered our rating was the disorganization by the staff at the meeting spot, confusion as to which bus and repeatedly being told to move to another spot “your bus will be there” even when, where we were moving from, was where they directed us just minutes prior. Clear, concise directions would have helped

The Baptistry, Duomo and the World famous bell tower are magnificent. To enter the Duomo you need to obtain a free timed entry ticket and it’s best to book these on-line before you go. Two hours is plenty of time to explore this site which gets very busy with tourists photographing each other holding up the tower. The Baptistry is closed from October to December.

With the exception of getting off 20 minutes late (gave us extra time before pick up) everything went smoothly and was well worth it! Motor coach was very comfortable, had air conditioning and very easy to locate in Livorno! Viator staff friendly and helpful with any/all questions. The trip was amazing and we loved Pisa!!

Anyone can see the Leaning tower of Pisa. These tickets are good because you get to go to the top of the Pisa. Lovely view :). Tickets include going inside the Cathedral for free also. It is kind of far from the Port-Livorno. First you need to get to the main Livorno square from the port. We took a shuttle from our cruise- free. Then you need ANOTHER bus from main Livorno square to go to Pisa. It took 45 minutes for this bus to get to Pisa. But, once the bus drops you off in Pisa, it WAS NOT near the Tower! We had to walk another 20 minutes to get there. So TOTAL time of activities is not what you may think. Overall- very nice.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY AND NOT AS PROMISED

This tour was NOT what we expected. It was very confusing even getting to the original meeting point what we needed to do, as the port person didn't even know how to instruct us to get to the meeting point. When we finally got there (14 eu charge) and found the right person to help us, he printed out what we were told was our bus ticket and SKIP THE LINE Tower ticket. When we finally got to the tower (a 20 minute walk), we discovered what we had WASN'T our entrance ticket. We were instructed to go to back to the ticket office (a 7 minute walk from the tower itself). They didn't even acknowledge it as a "pre ticket", but were kind senough to exchange it for a valid entry ticket which, might I add, WAS NOT A SKIP THE LINE TICKET, even though I was promised and confirmed it was by a Viator rep on the phone AND in my email. It did say "on your own," but it also said we would be lead to the entrance, which we were not. We were dropped off in a parking lot and left to find it in our own. When we finally got to the tower (a 20 minute walk), we discovered what we had WASN'T our entrance ticket. We were instructed to go to back to the ticket office (a 7 minute walk from the tower itself). They didn't even acknowledge it as a "pre ticket", but were kind senough to exchange it for a valid entry ticket which, might I add, WAS NOT A SKIP THE LINE TICKET, even though I was promised and confirmed it was by a Viator rep on the phone AND in my email. The WORST part of this "Tour" was that there was not enough time by any means to walk to the top of the tower, see the church and grab something to eat. We didn't even get to see the inside of the church, which we were extremely disappointed about, and only able to grab a bite as we were getting back on the bus. P.S. You need to find a person with a RED shirt fist (not green) to instruct you where to go at the meeting point. IT WAS NOT WORTH THE MONEY WE PAID. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR.

Our timing was tight to get to a tour. We used this method to get from Livorno to Pisa. We were advised to be there 15 minutes early, which we did. However, the bus didn't leave until 20 minutes late. This delayed us from getting to our tour on time. Fortunately that tour guide was flexible and made it work. It was a scramble to get back and made it with only 4 minutes to spare. Definitely would use a different method if we were to go again. Bus driver was not helpful at all.

They provide transport, they are clear at what time to come back and that's all we needed and wanted so all good. It's cheaper to organize the transport on your own for sure but if you don't have time and want something simple, quick and easy, this is it!

So disorganized. Only one person checking in a hundred people. Tour was scheduled for 10:00 and didn’t leave until 10:45. Bus was so hot it was uncomfortable.
