Overview

Snorkeling in Molokini Crater is undeniably one of the best parts about visiting Maui. Here in this crescent, submerged volcano off Maui’s southern coastline, over 250 species of fish inhabit a world-class reef. Experience water so exceptionally clear you can see down 75 feet, and swim with schools of tropical fish while cruising the vibrant reef. You can also just sit and suntan on the deck, with sweeping views of Haleakala set just off the back of the boat.

What To Expect

From Maalaea Harbor, board a 55-foot, glass bottom catamaran for a Molokini snorkeling tour, where you’ll enjoy a breakfast of bagels and fruit served with juice and Kona coffee. On the hour long cruise to Molokini Crater, take in the views of Haleakala volcano, and try to identify the four other islands that are scattered across the horizon. You’ll also hear commentary from an onboard naturalist who serves as your guide.

Upon arrival at Molokini Crater, splash into the waters teeming with thousands of fish, and cruise over one of Hawaii’s healthiest coral reefs. With its deep sand channels, shallows sections of reef, and wealth of colorful marine life, Molokini Crater is an exceptional outing for experts and first-timers alike. You can also take a turn on the waterslide.

If you'd like to see the marine life without getting wet, peer through glass on the bottom of the boat, where children and families can watch schools of fish.

Once you've finished snorkeling in Molokini Crater, enjoy a freshly cooked BBQ lunch of chicken breasts, pulled pork, or hot dogs, with a garden burger option for vegetarians. Lunch is accompanied by chips and dessert, and an open bar of beer and wine is served on the cruise back home.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

I highly recommend the Four Winds II. The boat is big enough to not make you throw your cookies, but small enough to feel comfortable. The crew were friendly and easy going. Bathrooms were clean. Breakfast and lunch were yummy. Snuba was fun and easy. And the crater has a beautiful reef and amazing visibility. Overall A+ experience!

Wonderful experience! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Safety was a first priority. Beautiful boat ride out to the reefs. Saw many different kinds of fish while snorkeling. My husband opted for the scuba diving which he enjoyed. Muffin and fresh fruit for breakfast and sandwiches and chips for lunch. They come around with alcoholic beverages once you are done in the water. Staff was very attentive to everyone. Highly recommend!

We were SO well taken care of! Everyone was awesome at their jobs and extremely attentive. The water was phenomenal-crystal clear and full of the most beautiful fish. This was a once in a lifetime experience that everyone should do while on the island.

Rough waters!

My family got sea sick. Sea was so rough. I even threw up while snorkeling due to the water being so rough. I never got eat lunch bc we were all so sick. When I was getting in from snorkeling I was getting thrown all over the deck landing I knocked my body all over and it was actually quite scary. It was not a fun experience. Which was disappointing given the cost we had paid. Quite the bummer to the start of our vacation!

Aloha Ashley_F, I'm sorry to hear you and your family got seasick on your tour with us. I also tend to get seasick, so I can understand how uncomfortable it can be. I hope you were able to have some of our special ginger drink on board to help settle your stomach. Unpredictable weather can happen at any given time and is completely out of our control. It is common for the weather to shift while we are on our tour, which is unfortunately always a possibility when signing up for any type of boat excursion, or even when you fly on an airplane. Our captain and crew always have our guests' best interest at hand and safety is always our top priority. We highly recommend to those prone to seasickness to take some sort of over-the-counter supplement to help with motion sickness at least an hour before the tour. Mahalo, Nikki PR Manager

Awesome experience. The crew was funny, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Tip: Be sure to bring a good Waterproof case for your phone if you will be taking pictures with it. The boat sells them for $15 but you can purchase one from Amazon for $7.

What a great day! The whole crew was very attentive, helpful, and just plain fun. We had plenty of time to snorkle by Molokini and saw many different kinds of fish. For safety, there was 2 "watchers" on the boat, and another in the water with rescue equipment if needed. They put alot of work into putting out a nice spread for lunch. I chose the vegeburger and enjoyed it. I would definitely do this tour again, and will recommend it to my friends.

We were a bit disappointed. There was much better snorkeling on Maui beaches without the added expense. OTOH, if you are inexperienced and need guidance, this may be good for you. Crew was excellent and food/beverages more than acceptable.

This tour was amazing crew was friendly and helpful. We hadn't been snorkeling before they provided instructions and equipment I felt so safe out there crew was very attentive with lifeguards in the water. The food was surprisingly very good and they had a variery of drinks and foods to choose from. I would hightly reccomend it!

Excellent Molokini Snorkel Tour with Four Winds!!

Great snorkeling tour. Excellent crew on the boat, and exceptionally helpful. The tour is well organized from start to finish. Snacks and drinks provided. The snorkeling at Molokini crater is great with lots of small tropical fish to see. Very relaxed trip. The crew take care of everything. The tour also provides (or rents) all the gear you might need (underwater cameras, wetsuits, floats, snorkeling gear, etc.). My mom used their "rocket" float which has a glass window to view the fish without having to use the snorkel/mask option. She loved it. Highly recommend the tour and the crew!! --Isaac
