Taxco and Cuernavaca
Jessica_D, Nov 2023
Long story short - book yourselves 2 days to explore these places and use local transportation, the tour is not worth it. This is advertised as a 10h tour, don't be fooled - we spent an hour picking people up all around CDMX (other tours only offer 1-2 pickup spots, clearly this would be way more efficient), I was the first pickup so I had a 12 hour day! We also waited for 45 mins for late people following our free time, we ended up leaving them thank goodness, but they need to make that call way sooner. They showed up 70 minutes late and somehow arranged a ride home anyways, but we all lost that time and had to travel between cities at night as a result, which is not recommended for security reasons. It seemed like I was the only person who wasn't picked up at my hotel as well which was annoying. I was also the last to be dropped off, even after the tour guide, despite that the driver didn't speak English. I was hoping to be dropped at my hotel but that didn't happen despite everyone else seemingly getting dropped off at theirs. Thank goodness a few people stayed behind or I would have jumped out and cabbed home. This tour is advertised as English, so I'm not sure why the majority of people only spoke Spanish. Other companies separate people by English or Spanish, we had a bilingual tour guide but everyone took twice as long because of this. The one nice thing I had to say was the tour guide was knowledgable and was kind to help people with pictures, etc. Don't buy your silver at the first store, you will have free time to walk around. I had to wait forever for people to be done their shopping there, I should have just gone off on my own at that point to actually allow enough time to see the museums or other points of interest. Hecho a Mano is the only store that seems to have anything different and seems actually handmade. Everything else you will see the same thing over and over, it's a bit odd and hard to believe everything is made in city. Either way, silver is cheap just make sure you look for the markets of authenticity. Cuernavaca in the area we went is beautiful, it's a bit rushed though. Taxco is nice, I ditched the meal in favour of walking around (brought my own food) but with the delays in waiting for people who never showed up that might be hard unless you pack snacks. I felt there was not enough time in Taxco to do anything but walk around the area, since museums and points of interest were a bit far for the time we had. It was a bit too much time in that area as a result. Wish they allowed more time in Cuernavaca or I had known the time we were supposed to leave wasn't going to be honoured, I could have done more besides wait in a bus for 40 minutes doing nothing. I suggest the tour guide gather everyone's numbers before we're given free time so this doesn't happen to other people. Despite the company reaching out in advance (so I know they had our numbers!) it took them forever to reach the people, and they still waited 10-15 minutes after the people didn't pick up before we were allowed to leave. I can't believe how incredibly rude those people were, and while it's not the tour company's fault, reading the reviews this wasn't the first time this happened so they need to have clearer rules about leaving people behind.

Dear Customer, First of all, I need to say thank you so much for your very detailed information. Your comments will help us a lot more than a "I like it" or "I did not like it" comments. This is the only way we can be better and I cannot say how thanksful I am that you use your time in writing this review. Be sure I am taking notes about eveything you have written in here and will take immidiate actions. A small clarification is that we sell two services, with pick up at your hotel and with meeting point which was the one you purchased. That is the reason why the other customers where dropped off at their hotel and you where brought to the meeting point where you started the tour. Another point is that I am almost sure that all tours in Mexico City are bilingual. Logistically is very difficult to run a tour with only english speaking people in one van and spanish speaking people in another van. However, our trining process with the tour guides make this bilingual tours run as smooth as possible, though I get your point. Furthermore, all of our vehicles have GPS 24/7 connected with our head offices. Any deviation of the tour is immidiately noted by our staff that has a direct line with the police department. Your tour was 100% secure at all time. Yes, the policy about leaving people behind....this is a big issue. Some customers are special and wt try all of our best to keep going with the tour trying to make them follow the rules but sometimes things do not go as we want. This does not happen often and I am really sad that it happen during your tour, We apologize for it. Finally, the tour of Taxco and Cuernavaca is one of those who you can defenitly take it by your own, but is been designed for customers that do not wish to stress about public transportations, translations and maps to follow the spots. All in all, you have very good points and this will defenitly help me to take immidiate actions to correct some of our mistakes. Thank you again for your detailed information and we wish you a safe trip home. We hope to see you back in Mexico soon. If you do, please give us a call, I would like to give you a 50% discount in your next tour. Warm Regards, Kim Alva Managing Director Interliv Travel Mexico
Beware. Not worth it.
Abner_R, Dec 2022
Taxco is a lovely place. However this tour will NOT allow you to see how magical it is. This is one of those tours where they take you to shops to try to sell you merchandise and the tour guides receive commission. The only emblematic spot your visit in Taxco is zocalo. If you want to truly experience Taxco DO NOT take this tour.
Response from Host, Dec 2022
Dear Abner, We appreciate the time you took to write a review. We always value so much the coments of our travelers. Shopping is always a very sensitive issue. Some people value that we bring them to some shops during their tour and someother as yourself doesn't. The fact is, the majority of the travelers appreciate time to shop and because of that, we give our customers the enough time to do it... Specially in this tour since the silver is highly appreciated and is one of the reasons the customers take this tour. The guides do not receive any commisions as it is prohibited in our company, although I know very well that this is a common practice in the tour industry...worldwide. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your holidays in Mexico and we wish you a very nice and safe flight home. Warm Regards, Kim Alva Managing Director Interliv Travel Mexico

Taxco is a beautiful and magical place, surely will go back. I acquire some silver jewelry, had a delightful lunch with the tour group.
Beautiful city and great...
Arturo_G, Oct 2022
Beautiful city and great food. The pick up point was easy to find with the instructions given. I would recommend this tour to someone else.
Very nice option to see two towns outside of CdMX.
Zackie_D, Jan 2022
I was happy to find this tour was offered! As a solo traveler it can be difficult to find tours with "minimum persons needed". I checked two local hotel concierge desks in CDMX and they were of no help. Thankfully Viator had something. The tour picked up at Cineopolis at 0900 and then I met up with other people and we left to see Cuernavaca. The time in that city was a bit too short- maybe 45 minutes. Id prefer to have taken photos, see more tourist things like the Cuernavaca sign and trying the food versus spending so much time at the churches. The churches are interesting, but very boring. We did a brief stop to have some tacos de canastas, but on the drive away there was so much more to see in Cuernavaca. We went onward to Taxco- pronounced Tas-co. They sell bundles of roses on the way toward the town but we didn't stop- sadly. Taxco was fine, but we spent a bit too much time there and although it was beautiful Cuernavaca seemed to have more going on. Taxco just seemed like a town of people selling trinkets, silver and then there's a big church on the hill. We stopped for a 45 min lunch here (may or may not be included) opt out of lunch if you want time to see the city + about an 1-2 hour of touring. We left Taxco and returned to CdMx around 1930. Overall a very fun day trip. Id recommend it. I hope the tour operators adjust it a bit to allow more shopping, food and less church history.
nice trip to Taxco

Amazing tour and the best I've ever seen. Taxco was more beautiful than I could have imagined. Frank was the best guide and Pablo was the best driver you could ever get and made it very special for us. Thanks!
Response from Host, Jun 2021

Casi perfecto
Gildy, May 2021

Saludos Cordiales, Kim Alva Managing Director
