Overview

Visit one of central Mexico’s thermal gems, Tolantongo Caves (Grutas Tolantongo). Leaving Mexico City in the morning, we’ll have the whole day to see this beautiful mountainside hot springs area. In the “Hidden Paradise” section, we’ll explore the 40 thermal pools, caves, estuaries, and waterfalls. In the "Paradise Tunnel” area, we’ll find a suspension bridge, restaurant area and zip line. The whole family will love this day of nature, hiking and relaxation.

Fine as a transport...

Fine as a transport option but not really a tour (no information was given about Grutas - it was very much just a drop off and pick up). We left Mexico City 45 minutes after we were meant to leave, and immediately stopped c.30 mins into the 4 hour drive. The way home took 5 hours because of some issues with petrol. Not sure it was worth the price, given its organisation.

Long drive but worth it for an change of scenery

Deanna was very kind and patient with our group. She made our day at the hot springs quite enjoyable and kept us informed of tips to get around the crowds and maximize our time there. Our driver Albert got us there and back safely. Was a bit of a bumpy ride but that is to be expected. The thermal cave was my favorite.

Ruben was our guide. He was excellent! We made a few stops and ate at some authentic spots. He explained all the sights and had plenty of time at the hot springs. We would love to do this again someday. It was quite an experience.

A very special place

It was a memorable trip to a very special location. Please bear in mind that it can be very hot there, I ended up burnt, though I put a lot of sunblocker on. Don't be shy to use an umbrella. The caves are really slippery and dark, I am brave but I would not do it again. But I know, all you readers and dareddevils will not listen to me :-). The cascades are big fun. You need to book beach chairs or other kind of equipment if you want to dress up your stay (barbeques, tents and stuff).

Terrible Experience

Extremely terrible experience. Viator and the company were very unprofessional. I arrived to the tour and they said to wait, so when I used the bathroom they already left my sister and I and they were gone. I never saw the bus again. When I called, they completely forgot and are ignoring me when I asked for a refund. COMPLETE RIP OFF AND SCAM.

Yavier was a wonderful tour guide ! Very informative and made sure we had the best experience. The food was amazing , the views were amazing ! The pick up location was easy to find , the food was very cheap but tasty. Pack lightly all we needed was our towels and swim shoes.

The time needs to be managed a little better. Maybe have more personnel working to provide an acceptable service. The place is great, but the time you get to spend there is rather limited due to the poor organization of the trip in general.

Must-visit hot fountains

The tour was very good overall. The drives are long but really worth it On the way there we've stopped at a good place to eat barbacoa and buy water resistant cases for the phones, both of which are at good prices and quality. The site itself is very amazing, we arrived while it was raining but it didn't matter as all of the fountains are hot (maybe even better because of the view of the rain on the mountain). The caves, river and pools are amazing, very fun as they are hot and the view is amazing as well.

Que passeio!! Foi incrível! Esse lugar é inacreditável! Um rio quente natural! Aí os caras fizeram um canal e construírem umas piscina que parecem uma jacuzzi! Dica: levem dinheiro, não aceitam cartão de crédito, mas a parte disso só ir! E se divertir! Os guias foram ótimos! Eu fiquei 5 horas lá no total e poderia ter passado uns 3 dias (ps tem hotel lá).
