What To Expect

Make your way to the Empire State Building and check-in at the information desk 15 minutes before sunrise, beating the crowds that inevitably arrive later in the day. Meet your group of 100 people or fewer and ascend straight to the Observation Deck on the 86th floor in time to see the sun breach the horizon. Take in 360-degree panoramic views of New York City from every side of the outdoor promenade, staying to enjoy the view from one of New York City's most iconic buildings for as long as you please. 

When you’re ready, head back down to the ground floor and have the rest of the day to explore. This is ideal for travelers who want to make the most of their day after flying in on a red-eye.

A great experience - do it!

It was great to be there and see a contrast between the dark scene as we arrived, and the city waking up. It was also very special to only be sharing the experience with a small number of people - there must have been about 40 people there today. No queues, no jostling, unrestricted views of the city. Staff were very attentive and friendly and we even got a Starbucks as part of the deal on our way out. All in all, expensive, but if this is something you will only do once in your lifetime, entirely worth it.

Waste of time thru Viator. Do not book anything thru them. Terriblecustomer service. Lying about their tours. DO NOT BOOK!
Sunrise from the 86th Floor

Being outside, on the 86th loot and watching the sun come up over NYC - awe inspiring. Small group so no jockeying for a good viewing spot. And the Gallery afterwards was full of interesting displays.

Most memorable: 1) Leaving my house at 2:30am to get to the ESB @ 6:30 2) anticipating the great sunrise that awaited us 3) Standing @ the LOCKED observatory door @6:30am 4) Standing @ the LOCKED observatory door @6:45am 5) Standing @ the LOCKED observatory door @6:55am 6) meeting Tony the bomb sniffing dog on the sidewalk outside the LOCKED observatory door.

Even though it was cloudy and only saw the sun for a little bit it was awesome! Also good to be up the Empire state building and not have it so crowded.
