We lucked out on this trip - we were the only ones to have booked for the time slot, and the inclement weather cleared just in time to get to the boat! David Medeiros was our tour guide, and he was fantastic from start to finish. My parents were in town visiting from the UK and Liberty Island was high on their list. David was knowledgeable, friendly, and funny, and really took care of us. His insights made the trip all the more fascinating and added an extra dimension compared with just seeing the places.

The Tour was very informative. The only thing that I found odd was the tour guide and group were no where in sight and I couldn't contact the tour guide to find where they went. I feel duped

The Tour Guide sets a meeting time for the group. If you choose to be on your own, you are entitled to explore at your convenience. The Tour Guide reports all people who didn't show up at meeting time and the group continues.

So I booked this tour through viator, but could have also just gone directly to American Tour Guide Association or gotten tickets from national park site. Our guide was so relaxed and had everything ready for us. There were only 8 of us in our group so it was like getting a personal tour since 4 of the 8 were my family. Half of the group left us on Liberty Island so we did have our guide to ourselves on Ellis Island. David was very informative and helped us understand the whole immigration process. After our tour David even walked us to Stone Street that has a variety of restaurants! We had a very good experience!
