What To Expect

Experience an unforgettable night out in the Big Apple with a Harlem jazz tour. Meet your guide in Times Square in the evening, then ride up north to Harlem while learning about the legends and legacy that made the neighborhood central to the evolution of jazz and blues.

Drive by musical landmarks like the Apollo Theater, which has hosted luminaries like James Brown, Sarah Vauhan and Ella Fitzgerald. See the site of the original Cotton Club, the Savoy Ballroom and Minton’s Playhouse — considered the birthplace of bebop.

Dig into a family-style dinner at Sylvia’s restaurant — famous for down-home cooking created by the ‘Queen of Soul Food.’ Savor southern-inspired favorites like fried chicken, BBQ ribs, collard greens, cornbread and black-eyed peas.

With your belly full of comfort food, follow your guide to a local nightclub to hear some of New York City’s best live jazz. Monday nights, step back in time at the reincarnated Cotton Club for a 1920s-style swing session featuring a 12-piece band and free dance lesson. On other nights, soak up the stylings of contemporary jazz and rhythm and blues acts at other local hotspots. Your tour includes two complementary cocktails during the show.

At the end of the toe-tapping, finger-snapping show, you’ll be dropped off back in Times Square around midnight.

A frustrating evening
GERARD_C, Oct 2019
We were the group of four francophone people to participate in this activity. We were driven to Harlem by the subway, but we did not visit anything in this part of the city except for a station in front of the Apollo Theater. The speaker did not explain anything about Harlem's story, her sociology, or the jazz music that characterizes this mythical place. We have heard only a few anecdotes without interest and off topic for the most part. The meal was correct, but would not have exceeded 35 to 40 dollars per person if it had not been included. We arrived in the cabaret at 9:40 pm. We were particularly badly settled, tight in a room where it was very hot. The guide did not introduce us to the musicians. The band seemed very good but we only heard it for 30 minutes. 158 euros for so little, is abusive. We would not have needed a provider to book us a table at a restaurant in Harlem, or to attend a jazz concert. This is what we will now advise to our knowledge departing for New York.
Great Evening

This tour was one of the highlights of my holiday, what a wonderful night and great tour guide. The food was fabulous and the jazz club, well I never thought that with my 2 left feet that I would ever get up and dance, but so glad I did it was so much fun it still brings a smile to my face whenever I think about it.

Guided bustrip from Midtown to Harlem with a great guide imforming us what is to know in the area we passed by. Stop at at Sylvia's in Harlem serving great soul food- chicken - ribs - fish and a delicious banana dessert. Stop at Apollo Theatre and finishing off in Cotton Club to listen to great jazz music and watchng a fantastic tap dance show. Highly recommended trip- good value!
This tour is a HUGE disappointment...
Chia Yu Tam, Jun 2017
This tour is a HUGE disappointment. The restaurant we went to gave us very little food, we had trouble sharing the portion between 12 people. The jazz bar they took us to had no cover charge. The music was not that good at all. Anybody off the street could have come in and sit down for free. We ended up leaving early because it was so boring. We just can't justify paying 175 per person for the evening.

Had a great time. The meal was great - best potato salad I've ever had. I had an enjoyable time at the Cotton Club - great music and entertainment. Only thing that would have made this trip better was being able to get a walking tour I couldn't see the venues very well, sitting inside the van. The tour guide was great and the information added to the experience.

Another great evening hosted by a very personable guide. Good food at Sylvia's and a great little jazz quartet in the pub across the road. Pick up and drop off by the bus was spot on.

Very good evening and great way to see Harlem. Alvin, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about both the music and New York - he was excellent. The meal was great and the tour round Harlem was very interesting. We went on a Monday so finished at the Cotton Club and were particularly impressed with Solomon King, a 20 year old blues guitar player, who was brilliant. The tap dancer, whose name we did not get, was equally talented and impressive. A great evening to spend in Harlem!
