What To Expect

Begin your wildlife and Gatun Lake tour with pickup from your accommodation. Then settle in for the drive to Gatun Lake where you board your vessel for a boat tour. Sail alongside massive ships crossing the Panama Canal and enjoy several opportunities for wildlife sightings, including crocodiles, toucans, and turtles.

Continue your wildlife exploration at the Sloth Sanctuary in Gamboa, where rescued three-toed and two-toed sloths take center stage. Gain insights into their lives and conservation efforts from knowledgeable guides and volunteers.

Did this tour out of Panama City. The boat trip was the best part of the tour, we passed several container ships, saw croc's, birds and several monkey species. I understand that the monkeys are enticed with food to bring them to the boats for the tour experience but it seems a bit wrong. Overall a worthwhile day though.

Had a great time- there are a few trips with similar descriptions to this one available, but this is the one you should book. No hidden fees around the boats, no up charged meals (but did provide included snacks for the bus ride) and the guide and driver were lovely and engaging, very knowledgeable and family friendly. Thanks for sharing the day with us !

We enjoyed the boat ride. Saw a couple of monkeys. Would have liked to touch the sloths. It was really good to see them. Juan was a great guide. Overall we felt it was a bit pricey.

Great nature experience

Carlos was a great communicator. He let us know exact pick up time and gave an overview of what to expect. We enjoyed seeing the monkeys and interacting with them. The sloth sanctuary was wonderful and loved walking through the butterfly exhibit. The drive is hairy with lots of traffic but the driver was excellent as well. We really enjoyed our half day tour and recommend this adventure.

The tour in lake Gatun was amazing. We were lucky enough to have a monkey come down to our boat and take food from our hands. We also saw a crocodile, lizards and various birds. Oliver, our guide was very knowledgeable and patient answering all our questions. Also very attentive to the group. He really added value to the tour. He should be recognized for exceptional customer service skills. I highly recommend this tour!

Ariel was an amazing guide! Friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. Give that guy a raise! The boat trip down Gatun Lake was beautiful, and we made many stops to see the wildlife. Our boat was spacious and it was easy to hear Ariel. Him and the (also awesome) driver pointed out many animals we would have otherwise missed. The sloth sanctuary was a great walk, with a poison dart frog and butterfly exhibit. I couldn't help but buy some things to support them. The trip was the perfect length: long enough that you felt satisfied but not too long so you feel drained from the heat.

Ariel was an excellent guide full of fun facts and tidbits. The van was comfortable and the boat ride was fun. We saw lots of monkeys crawling all over our boat. The tamarin monkeys were our favorite. We were lucky to have them on our boat as there were several other boats that arrived after us and didn’t get them on to their boat.

The trip was pleasant although it was supper hot thr day we went. The guide was kind and full of knowledge. Please note that the monkeys come to you if they feel like it. You are visiting them in their natural habitat.

The sloth sanctuary and monkey island were both amazing experiences in a beautiful environment. Juan was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about the rain forest, the Panama Canal and the monkeys on the island. It was amazing to see them come down after a while of coaxing but definitely worth it.

We attended as a group of 7. 3 adults and 4 children. We requested to sit together as a group. The participants refused to accommodate this regular request and the tour guide watched as 4 men cursed and verbally harassed me and my child. I tried to take photos of my child during the trip and one of the four men intentionally stood between me and the camera. The tour guides pretended to be ignorant of the situation and when I asked for help she refused to assist. We watched and other tour guides brought fruit and made sounds to attract the monkeys. Our tour guide did not. The bus was full of mosquitos but there were no mosquitos out of the bus on the actual tour. I would not recommend a tour where the guide allowed a single mother with a child be harassed and verbally abused. This was a very sad day for us.
