Ian, the tour guide was fantastic. The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars is they email.Edust and told us The night before our excursion that we had to be there at 6 o'clock in the morning.Ready to go and we got there at six o'clock in the morning and the lady at the booth did not show up until 7:30 And told us all that she never gets there until 7:30. So we got up at 4 o'clock in the morning for no reason.

It was unique being able to actually go through the locks. The tour was exceptionally well organized. The tour guide Edwin provided a great deal of information, about the history, construction and politics of the canal. really brought this phenomenal achievement to life.

Sharing the Canal with a Cruise Ship, Car Carrier and several small boats was exciting. Loved watching the gates close. There were people of all ages and Nationalities on the boat. Our pickup was timely, the van was comfortable, and the driver was courteous.

Excellent all around. This trip started with a 4:30 am hotel pickup, which was right on time. Good narration during the trip. Tasty lunch served on board. Fantastic up close view of canal operations while shadowing a cargo vessel. You get back to Panama City in time for a full afternoon, and we used that time to go to the Panama Canal Museum in Casco Viejo—well worth your time.

An incredible experience from start to finish. Reservations, pick-up at hotel and return after the trip were very efficient. Our tour guide was excellent, sharing engaging stories of the canal’s history, design, construction, operations, land topography, and its impact on our world. Hard to believe it’s 110 years old this year. Traveling on the Panama Canal was on my bucket list. This trip exceeded all expectations.

Amazing tour from start to finish. Plenty of confirmations. We chose to Uber to meeting point at the Panama Sign at Flemenco Marina. Check in process went smooth. Get there early to chose your seats. Northbound leaves around 6;30 but depends on the canal ports authority. Breakfast was banana, pound cake, granola bar, coffee, water, soda. Lunch was chicken, salad, rice and plantain. Unlimited water and soda. Other snacks to purchase. About 200 people on board. Meals and disembarkation are done by the color of your wrist band. Very organized. EDWIN the tour guide and canal employee is amazing on the microphone. Good information about the canal and funny. We went in behind a medium sized flammable liquid tanker and beside another tourist boat. We went through meriflores and Pedro Miguel locks. Docked in Gamboa and took bus back to flomenco Marina. We asked to get off at the meriflores visitor center because the bus drives right by the road entrance. 4 people got off. It is a 1/2 mile walk to the visitor center. Currently, the museum isn't open but the IMAX movie about the canal , snack bar and one observation deck are open. It gets overly crowded around 2. The process of going through the locks was amazing and slow. We arrived at check-in at 6 am. Went into locks at 8 am. Docked around noon. Take sun screen, hat or umbrella. Two of the boat decks are air conditioned. One outside deck has a roof overhead. The seats in the front of the boat are uncovered and will get crowded at different times of the journey. Plenty of restrooms. Thank you so much for the experience.

Watching the water rise in each of the locks! Thank you to all of the workers who deserved a healthy tip for their service but was denied this encouragement by many like us who did not come prepared with cash to distribute some good Christmas cheer. They were all excellent, especially the tour guide.

Be amazed by the Panama Canal

We did a north to south half day tour out of Panama City. The length of time was just freight to appreciate the history of forming the Panama Canal. Also it is a slow process going through the 3 locks so this is more than enough time to appreciate the ingenuity, amazing engineering and extensive problems that went into achieving the canal. Don’t forget to go to the Canal Museum in the Old City .
