What To Expect

On this private walking tour, uncover Montmartre through the lives and works of Monet, Renoir, Cézanne and Van Gogh — several of the art rebels who lived here and developed the Impressionist art movement.

Starting at the base of Montmartre with your private guide, see firsthand the places that inspired painters Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh and Cézanne. Check out the windmill that Renoir featured in his scandalous piece Bal du moulin de la Galette, walk past the Moulin Rouge that inspired Toulouse-Lautrec, and see where Van Gogh and Picasso lived and worked.

Reach Montmartre’s highest point, Basilique du Sacré Coeur, offering stunning views of Paris.

Refuel with lunch (own expense) and then enjoy transport by luxury private vehicle to the Musée d’Orsay. Housed inside a 19th-century Beaux-Arts building, the Musée d’Orsay boasts the world’s finest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces, with more than 4,000 works on display.

Bypass the lines and head straight inside for a 2-hour guided tour. Peruse an array of 19th-century artwork by Manet, Renoir, Cézanne, Gauguin and more, and learn about the techniques used by the Impressionists and post-Impressionists.

At the end of your guided tour, feel free to continue exploring the museum’s hallowed galleries on your own.

Perfect!

We had Mattieu as our guide for 7 hours and was fantastic! This tour was ALOT of walking (so be prepared) but Matt did a great job. He met us promptly in front of D’orsay and took us for about 2.5 hours inside. Although we could spend all day inside the museum - he did a great job hitting all of the highlights and really getting into the history about how Impressionism started. After getting through the museum - we took a taxi to Montmarte and he continued on with the history of the area and how Moulin Rouge came to be. The tour was awesome - we ended at Sacre Coeur and it could not have been better weather! Great job to Mattieu and all the way around!
Very informative tour with such a knowledgeable guide

This was a fabulous tour. Our tour guide, Daniel, was extremely well versed in the art of the Museum. His insights into impressionism kept us learning and enjoying every masterpiece we reviewed with him. He was also fantastic on our walking tour of Montmarte highlighting the wonderful attributes and history of the district. If you love art and especially impressionism, you need to book this.

Belene was AMAZING!! She was so knowledgeable about everything!! She was delightful in her presentation about the art and the artists. She asked questions of us and made the tour interactive and pushed us to understand our views about art and history. When we come back to Paris we will contact her!! The walk up the windy streets of Montmartre allowed us to see, hear and feel the nuances of the neighborhood that the artists had lived in. I can not begin to praise enough how delightful this tour was!!!

If you can do it, I highly recommend this tour. My tour guide, Belen was amazing and I spent a wonderful day in Paris on this tour. She gave me a great tour of Montmartre and Basilica Sacre Coeur that was rich with history. After lunch, we toured the Musee d'Orsay and while she explained the different styles of painting associated with the Impressionist genre. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our guide, Harriet, was fabulous. What a wonderful and informative tour. I highly recommend this tour as it provides behind the scenes insight into the Montmartre impressionist community and then ties it to the artwork at the d'Orsay.

What a GREAT tour and GREAT tour guide!!!! We lucked out with tour guide Belen Roncoroni. She was timely, informative and really customized this tour as she got to know us. A wonderful walk in the Montmartre area, shopping for art work with Belen's assistance as she is also an artist and a wonderful picnic lunch on the Seine River taking in all of the sites in the middle of it all. Then we moved on to the Musee where Belen really displayed her knowledge and love for art. We can not say enough about this Guide or tour. Getting to know Paris with this walking tour was the best!!!!

The trip to Montmarte was dull and uninteresting mainly because our guide Adam was detached, uninteresting and constantly looked at his watch and telling us he had another appointment. Dario who took us to the Orsay was excellent. He made us engage with each artist and was extremely interesting and informative.

lovely stroll thru Montmartre--thought we would hear more about individual artists but really did not learn anything new. But our guide was knowledgable and the trip thru the Musee d'Orsay was delightful. Montmarte has changed over the years--seemed like all the paintings were of the Eiffel tower and I missed all the wonderful landscapes and window boxes and shutter paintings that used to be there. Found a couple but not nearly the selection found in previous years.

We met our guide, Laura close to the Moulin Rouge in Montmartre at 10am. There were four of us plus Laura. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for Paris, it's history and it's art, particularly the impressionists was excellent. (She is Australian and has lived in Paris 3 years and spoke fluent French) We spent the morning walking around various places of artistic interest away from the usual tourist traps and hoards of people. We chose the private tour to avoid large groups and it paid off enormously so it was well worth the extra cost . Laura chose a local French bistro for lunch which was excellent! We then went by taxi to the Musee d'Orsay which is former magnificent railway station on the river side. You could quite easily spend a day here - the art is displayed beautifully - the Skip the line entrance gave us extra time inside and Laura chose specific areas to show us to enable a clear and informative tour of the great impressionists with lots of interesting facts. Our tour ended there at around 5pm to allow us extra time to view the Van Gough exhibition which is superb. Laura was a excellent guide, friendly, welcoming and very knowledgable - I would highly recommend this tour and particularly Laura !
