Chichen Itza growls like a jaguar
Jennifer_S, Feb 2022
There is so much to see at Chichen Itza - and so much to learn. This is a MUST visit site for anyone going to the Yucatan Peninsula. However, with demand high, the only way to go...at least, in my findings...was in a big bus group. Not so easy to get around. We also visited Valladolid - for only 20 minutes... not enough time to see the glories of this colonial town. I would have preferred more time at both Chichen Itza and Valladolid. We also stopped at a cenote, which was stunning - not a cave, so open to the air with lots of flora. My preference would be...less retail therapy and more tour time...

I paid $56 more per person for a VIP all inclusive which was not provided. Viator reimbursed me $20. Viator sells tours with extra amenities which are not provided.

Dear Adriana, Thank you for sharing you experiences with us. We apologize for the inconvenience. The difference that you paid for the VIP option was only 10USD. That s why you have been refund for this amount. Beside this we hope that you enjoy the visit of Chichen Itza. See you soon in Mexico

The tour was pretty much as advertised. It was worth the spent although once in Cancun/Riviera Maya, it appears that similar if not the same trips for same can be arranged once you are there. It was billed as an english guide, however english was his second language and half of our van we had approx 15 people spoke spanish and thus, he spoke both languages throughout the tour. Once at Chichen Itza, he actually had to pass us to other experts/guides as he was apparently not qualified no credentials to provide the onsite Chichen Itza tour himself. So our english-speaking portion of the group was given to a guide that spoke english, and he was good. The food at the restaurant was pretty good. The cenote that we stopped at was also great, as it was not crowded.

this is the best value tour --of the chichen itza tours, for sure-- you do more events for your money. However the day is very long and you spend a ton of it in the van and it is not a luxury van. it is air conditioned and clean and fine. the cenote they take you to is not too crowded it's also pristine, really beautiful, and was a trip highlight for us. Chichen Itza is impressive and our tour guide was awesome. However it is so very hot there, so wear sunscreen. the other parts of the trip--the mayan village they take you to and the small stop at the public square of valladoild are less impressive than the cenote or chichen itza. they are fine and points of interest are explained by the guide but the village is very commercial and valladoild is more of a stopover you just get out of the car to stretch your legs there and there is a historic church there to take pics of. We learned a lot about how local mayan people are living and you could see a great deal of poverty, visible from the road. I would actually say this was one of the things that made the tour valuable to us because it gave us a more realistic view of mexico, more so than the resort where we'd been staying. I'm very glad we did the tour. If you are not willing to commit an entire day, do a different tour with less stops. Tour guide was good but pitched a little hard for tips on the drive home.

Great full day trip with an excellent guide, only complaint was we visited Chichen Itza at the end of the tour and frankly the temperature in the middle of the day is exhausting so we didn't see all of the site. It would have been much better to do this part of the trip first and then we would have appreciated the cenote dip much more!

The tour was great! Our guide was amazing. Zerferino did a fantastic job and he has so much knowledge about the era and the pyramids. My only complaint would be the transportation. The shuttle bus we were on was too small. It sat 18 passengers not counting the guide and the driver. 20 total. We sat in the back and it was way too hot and very cramped for that long of a drive.
