If you want a small group with more flexibility, this is a great option. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very conversational.

I enjoyed Florence, the only thing was it was a fast tour. The ride was long and the Van was crowded. If the tour was set-up by train, we could of had more time to shop and tour Florence.
Beware of sudden cancellations!

I should have paid more attention to previous reviews. The tour company cancelled the tour the day before without any explanation. When we tried to reach out as to why, there was no response. We were very disappointed. I would recommend taking the train yourself. I saw over 60 daily trains to Florence from Termani train station and hiring a guided tour when you get there, and then taking a train to Pisa, if you want. The main attraction in Pisa is the leaning tower which you can walk to from the train station, take a picture and hop back on the train, literally 15 minutes.
All about the tour guide- Chiara Antonelli! 5 ⭐️
cyndie_F, Sep 2023
Chiara Antonelli is A M a ZI NG!! She was the most energetic, true historian, full of valuable information for the Vatican tour. Truly grateful for having her! Her Bostonians/Cretan Greeks were truly blessed to have her. Charlie & Cyndie

Elisa is an excellent tour guide, very friendly and very knowledgeable on the history. 5 star experience and we will be back.
A your well worth it!

Our guide, Mounir (hope I’m spelling that right!) was young, but very knowledgeable about all things Florentine. He was kind enough to stop or ho more slowly when some of us were a bit tired, as it was also a very hot day. (More difficult for us older folk!). Well worth it!
A Fun Day in Florence

We had a wonderful driver and the guide in Florence was awesome! Our guide was knowledgeable and made the tour fun. Overall, good experience!
Not a tour, just transportation!

Save your money and just buy train tickets. I was picked up from my hotel as per the agreement. Vehicle was extremely dirty inside and out. Vehicle was poorly maintained and was very loud. Driver or "tour guide" Stephano drove extremely fast and provided very little information. When we arrived in Florence, the driver pointed in a direction for us to go, but the others on the tour and I had so little information that we didn't get to see everything we wanted to see. We were driven to Pisa, and were told that there's not much to see there so there's no need to spend more than 5 minutes there. The other tourists convinced the driver to wait for us to see the grounds and he agreed on an hour. On the way back, there were several places we could have stopped for sunset pictures of the Mediterranean sea and the driver didn't stop until he needed to get fuel. I tried to engage the driver several times to get more information about the area we were driving through and was told "I don't know, just some small insignificant town." Trust me on this one, skip this "tour" and just buy train tickets.

The driver very friendly and did his job Unfortunately the organization. Very bad very little time to visit the places and the explanation of the lousy guide regarding quality and price is not worth it
Worst experience in all my travel over many years
Maureen_G, Oct 2022
The driver could not speak a word of English and was most unprofessional in that he did not check our names to see if we were entitled to be on the tour. He did not at any stage introduce himself so I have no idea what his name was. His car broke down and limped into Florence. Our tour was booked for 1pm and this happened at 10.30am. He arranged for a tour guide to arrive at 12 noon which she did. On our 2 hr tour we saw the wonders of Florence, but our guide was less than professional and lacking in knowledge. I suspect she had been called in as an emergency and did her best, but was sadly lacking. Our driver had 3-4 hrs to find a solution and did not. There were many options available, a replacement car, a rental car, contacting another tour company and ask if they could pick us up after our tour, a taxi back to Florence and we could have caught a train back to Rome, none of which seem to have been considered by him and he assured us the car was right to return to Rome. We missed our tour of Pisa and fifteen minutes out of Florence his car broke down again. We stood on the side of the road for more than 2 hours and still he did not have a solution to the problem. Eventually the vehicle (with us still in it, which I am sure must be illegal) was towed on the back of a towtruck to a car park in the middle of nowhere. A taxi finally arrived at 5.45pm and took us back to Rome. We arrived at our pick up point at 8.45pm with no apology from the driver who clearly does not have a plan B if this should happen and his main priority was his vehicle. He was rude, arrogant and had no sense of responsibility for the passengers whose lives he put in danger on several levels. He refused to listen to us and could not speak English which further exasperated the already bad situation. He lied to us on several occasions when we asked what was happening, but generally ignored us entirely. When we said we would not leaved the vehicle so it could be towed away and be left on our own, he was furious and we were probably lucky we could not understand what he said. This is the worst experience I have encountered on many years of travel and will demand a full refund of our fee for the tour. I suggest he was contracted to be a driver and that he owned the vehicle and it seemed he spent an hour and a half arguing with either Romeatravel or Viator. He would not let us speak to them which was a further insult to our intelligence. I doubt he had national road insurance or perhaps even insurance to cover his vehicle or his passengers. He was also the first to be dropped off home on our return in the taxi, which further confirmed his total disregard as to whether we got back safely or not. The buck stops with Viatour as this tour is advertised under your banner and it was an absolute disgrace from start to finish. had a guided tour of Florand broke down and spend 3 hours waiting for him to get a two truck and tax
Dangerous, frustrating experience

A day in Pisa & Florence

Such a great experience. I enjoyed this day trip. Kudos to our driver, Stephano for his patience and keeping us safe while we are on the road. Our local tour guide Ghergana was wonderful too. Highly recommended for this day trip.
Avoid if you value your safety!

Avoid this tour at all costs! I paid $200 per person. Driver spoke no English, Van had no AC on a hot day and his driving was so erratic that I almost called police. He was texting while driving, kept getting lost & refused to stop for a toilet break on a 4 hour car ride. I had to urinate in the car. (No choice). He tried to drop 2 older ladies a mile from their hotel and only when they argued did he let them back in the van. It took him 45 mins to find their hotel. They couldn’t help him due to the language barrier. I’m not saying that drivers need to be fully bilingual but they should be able to understand some of the language of their customers. What if there was an emergency? We only had 50 minutes in Pisa due to “time” however that morning it took him over 1 hour to pick up 3 parties. We were picked up at 6:45 AM but the last person not until 8. Over an hour as he kept getting lost! So we were rushed due to his incompetentence! When I contacted company I was told that I’m unappreciative of “working people” and that “all of their drivers have licenses.” Is that supposed to give me confidence? They also said that texting and driving is “ok” in Italy I was very afraid for the safely of my husband and myself. Twice other drivers honked and flipped him off due to bad driving. There was a bad accident on the way home that made the drive an hour longer. While the traffic was not his fault he was unable to tell us what was going on! We were all hot, tired and had to use the restroom but he just kept saying he didn’t understand. Thus I had to relive myself in a pop bottle. This company really needs to be audited by the Italian Board of Tourism. I don’t know how they have a business license! I will say that our guide in Florence was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and took us all around. I highly recommend her. But she wasn’t enough to save this disaster of a day

This trip was very rushed. It is a long drive to Florence and Pisa and you don't get much time to explore/sight-see at either location. Plus the van we had was terrible, the drive was extremely bumpy and uncomfortable and on the way back there was no AC.
Safe but Quiet Guide
Rebecca_P, Sep 2022
I do believe that our guide spoke maybe 5 sentences the entire day. From Rome to the gas station for snack, then to Florence and Pisa, back to Rome. I was truly hoping to get some local or history commentary. Seemed like we paid for hotel pickup and drop off NOT a tour!
Lovely sites
Daniel_K, Aug 2022
Florence and Pisa are gorgeous places to go and see, would highly recommend going to visit the places. Only let down we have about this trip is the organisation and communication from the tour lead to us. Other than that, very kind driver and perfect day out.
Car not comfortable
Poorvi_C, Jul 2022
Driver was driving safely. How choice of vehicle was not good. Too cramped they tried to fit 8 people in yeh van for a 4 hr one way drive. In front side passenger sun shade was broken. It would have been more comfortable if there were 6 people in the car.
old car and not comfortable , very short time to spend in pisa only 40 minutes after 4 hours travelling!!!! no guide. I

Stay Away From this Tour at All Costs
Vincenzo_A, Jul 2022
We paid $840.22 for our trip from Rome to Florence and Pisa. It took about 3.5 hours to drive from Rome to Florence and we were only given 3 hours to see the city. The driver left us 0.5km away from the city and told us “I will see you in 3 hours at this spot.” We paid you for a tour of Florence, but what we received was just a taxi driver. We had no guidance whatsoever, no one to tell us where to go, what important sites to see, nothing. We were on our own. We had to walk very fast in a city we did not know for 3 hours, to try and find the important things to witness. We did not even have time to enjoy a meal because of all of this. The trip was very unpleasant. Already exhausted with the drive and hurriedly walking around the city, we had to to drive another hour and 20 minutes in this very small and tight van to go to Pisa. And once we arrived in Pisa, our “tour guide” told us we had 40 minutes to do whatever we wanted and had to respect the time given to us. We had no time to do anything there. The line to go into the Tower of Pisa alone was an hour wait. Obviously this is more time than what we were even given. The driver was a very nice man, but he was instructed to do what we had done. For what we did and the amount of time it took and especially for what we paid, I would strongly advise everyone to skip this tour. This tour would’ve been better just by watching a video on YouTube. Very disappointed by the whole experience.
