If you love fountains as well as quiet ruins to visit - this is your tour! The Neptune fountain at Villa D'Este is so spectacular! So many beautiful fountains located in a wonderful garden villa. Our tour guide did an excellent job of recreating what was once Hadrian's villa as well as back ground on this Roman emperor. Nice quiet visit to the ruins with lots of great information. Worth the trip - so happy we did this tour as it was a last minute addition to our itinerary!

Happiness visiting Tivoli
Meg_M, Apr 2024
Both sites were wonderful. Getting to Villa Adriana early in the morning was nice. The gardens at Villa d Este were really pretty. It was a disappointment that the lift was broken
Great tour
Robin_M, Apr 2024
Well managed tour. I was anxious about a tour that mixed three languages but she managed this quite well. Great locations, great tour.
Beautiful Tivoli
Angela_B, Apr 2024
Such a stunning and fascinating tour - certainly one of the top highlights of our trip to Rome. It was the perfect mix of history and beauty. Monica was a fantastic and extremely knowledgeable guide. I enjoyed listening to her. It was also a comfortable and short bus ride there and back, which we really appreciated after having a super long and tiring tour the day before.

Robert_T, Sep 2023
The Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa tour was very good. Our tour leader was knowledgeable and interesting, she made the tour great.! However the tour of Villa d’Este was a big disappointment as the fountains were all turned off.

A little more out of the way on this tour, but exceptional nonetheless. Our tour guide was very informative. Knew a lot about both locations. Very laid back and casual. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of free time in Tivoli was a treat

Cut our tour short
kris_s, May 2023
A couple arrived a half hour late because their car (arranged by the tour) from the hotel had a flat tire. So our tour was shortened for a half hour as we sat and waited on the bus for them to arrive. Disappointing to say the least.
Response from Host, May 2023

We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience caused by the delay due to a flat tire. Beautiful day outside of Rome
Susan_M, May 2023
The guide was very knowledgeable. The bus was 30 minutes late arriving. I had signed up for a tour in English only to find it was turned into English and Spanish- half of the guide’s time was in English, half in Spanish - I did not sign up for this. The guide handled the situation very professionally.
Villa D’Este is STUNNING
Julia_S, Apr 2023
Would recommend. Hadrian’s Villa was great, Villa D’Este was STUNNING. Morning trip, back by 1:30 ish. will go back.
Skip Villa d'este; bus a wreck
Robert_B, Oct 2022
Hadrian's Villa superior to the villa d'este which I would skip if I did it again. also the bus was a wreck as the fan and lights did not work and I had to kick the back door to get it open all the way. The bus needed new springs and the seats did that recline and were worse than airline seats.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Dear Robert, thank you for writing these lines and sorry for the inconvenience about the bus. We'll inform our Product department for internal verification. We're glad you liked Hadrian's Villa, which we also agree is more attractive than Villa d'Este. Both are though worth visiting when in Tivoli, we believe. Best regards, Gray Line Rome Reviews Team
As good a half day tour as we’ve had ever taken.
Dennis_E, Oct 2022
The guide Monica was so knowledgeable. She was clear and engaging in both English and German. Villa Adriana is staggering in scope. Hard to believe it really existed. Villa d’Este, especially the gardens, we’re something to behold. We’ve been in Italy for a month and this was a high point.
Unfortunately, the bus...
Dorothy_K, Oct 2022
Unfortunately, the bus was well over an hour late so we did not take the tour. A refund was issued promptly.
Fantastico half day trip
Katherine_B, Sep 2022
This tour was beyond what we expected. We are so happy we choose to do this. We have been a number of times to Rome and we wished to explore beyond rome itself- this was perfect! It was a great blend of history and walking around as well as relaxing coach trip there and back.
The part that spoilt it...
IAN_W, Jul 2022
The part that spoilt it for us ,was, the guide spoke a lot in French, then had to say it all again in English, we had passed by things en route ,when it was explained in English… the French people spokeperfect English, would have made it more interesting,if it just had been English (which was what we paid for)
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Dear Ian, thanks for bringing this to our attention about your Tivoli guided tour (Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa)! Actually, it happens sometimes that we have to put two groups together and make a tour bilingual. This is for financial reasons or difficulty in finding another guide that speaks the other language. We are sorry if it made the tour less smooth or attractive for you! We'll try to avoid this next time - we always do actually as much as possible. Best regards, Gray Line Rome Reviews Team
Beautiful day of history and gardens.
Deborah_W, Jul 2022
Hadrian’s Villa was so interesting. The gardens at Villa d’Este were spectacular! My husband is a Landscape Architect and had studied these gardens as part of his training. Seeing them was one of his favorite parts of our Italy trip.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Dear Deborah, so glad you and your husband enjoyed the guided visit to Tivoli so much - it must have been overwhelming to finally see up close something you had only studied on textbooks. Best regards, Gray Line Rome Reviews Team
Great Tour of Hadrian's Palace and Tivoli
Julie_M, Jun 2022
