The powerful Doges ruled the Venetian Empire from the Gothic fantasy palace that is Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) until 1797. The site was one of the first things those arriving in Venice saw as their ships sailed through the lagoon and landed at St. Mark's Square, and the doges ruled with an iron fist—justice was often meted out here. Today, the site is one of the most well-known attractions in Italy.
Our guide was a happy, energetic, knowledgeable person who was very interested in our experience, safety and education during the tour. An excellent experience that is easy to recommend to others.
Amazing tour guide and enjoyable experience.
Only issue was where we had been told to redeem tickets first when actually its just at the meeting point. Caused confusion!
Our tour guide Suzy was THE BEST EVER. She was friendly from the beginning and so knowledgeable. She did excellent tailoring the tour to keep the kids engaged. She was patient with them and her enthusiasm for her job showed. The Doge’s Palace was beautiful but it was Suzy that made it worth every penny. I would have missed out on so many details if she wasn’t with us.
Our tour guide Chiara was absolutely amazing! Her passion and enthusiasm made the tour more incredible than even the unbelievable history, structures and sites. Would highly recommend this tour!
Our first excursion had been a real opening to the many magnificent places that we will be going to. St, Mark's Basilica is a treasure beyond my imagination. The same with Doge Palace. I am so glad to know of the history of Venice. It is not just a location for Gondolas and the Grand Canal but much more.
Our guide was not short of making us impressed with the 2 places. It was an eye opener for me to see it all.
Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable! Timing was a bit of an issue- our group was late to the gondolas because of a restroom break, so they skipped us. Therefore, they had us wait for a long time, but an impending storm threatened to shut our gondola station down. Thankfully, we were the last group to board a gondola before they closed.
Our Guide was very informative and really made the history of the Doge come alive… My teenagers who were getting tired of so much history actually enjoyed and really perked up with interest as our Guide wove the historical stories onto the everyday lives of the Venetians… not just the noble class that is taught in schools.
Doge's Palace was beautiful. Straight in no queuing with this pass. You have to go through a security check and place big bags in to the cloakroom while you walk round.
