Finding this was the most pleasant surprise!! We learned a lot and were able to move at our pace. The best part—we saved $1200-$1500 by renting a large SUV in lieu of booking an excursion with the cruise ship. Winning!!

Great tool to view the sites

It was a great way to visit the places without the crowd. We rented a car and stopped at the destinations that was the itinerary. And it also provided a little history. It also provides stops to see the best views. Only suggestion is to state that there is a small fee for some of the lookout points.

We both enjoyed this tour. I do wish there was more history presented but that is just me. I had no issues downloading the android version and using this product. I have my own mini speaker because I did see that this isn't compatible when Android auto. We did take every red option too which we both appreciated that as an option

Great audio tour on second attempt

Do NOT use Shaka Guide for this tour. The redeem code didn’t work and when they finally returned my call, 3 hours later! they left a voicemail to follow the instructions on our confirmation, which we had done, and which didn’t work in the first place. The Viator rep we called set us up with a second app, Action Tour Guide, and that app gets a 5 star rating from us. Again, DO NOT USE SHAKA GUIDE for this tour. Viator, however, was wonderful in resolving this problem. Kudos!

It made the day much more interesting and we all enjoyed knowing more about everything we saw on the trip. I would suggest adding some music between narrations so that you know that it is still there and still working. Some of the gaps between narration were quite long. I would definitely do this again and it worked very well.

Pros: once you get the hang of it with the GPS. It works well. Not that hard really. We would definitely do it again! Cons: When we were on the tour in our rental car- 3 of the places required reservations in advance to enter gardens etc. We only had one day there. If we would have know ahead of time we would have made reservations. Tips- Download the app before you go. Review the stops and research if you need reservations prior. If the App could highlight these things prior to going on the tour- it would be very helpful.

Great tool for self driving tour

We didn't understand the software would start and stop based on our location so we were trying to manually move it forward which resulted in a couple of missed stops and confusion because what we were seeing didn't match the information. Once we synced with the software, it worked great!

Great to avoid a bus full of people

You have to follow the pre instructions for this and as long as you do it’s great. Really cool to drive without a group of folks and spend as much or as little time at a place as you want. I’d recommend researching Waimea and all the hiking trains along the coast before this. There are spots you’ll want to get to before 11am and if you’re wanting to hike this is a full day experience. If all you want to do is drive and stop for a pic or 2 you can do it in 2-3 hours.

Well after I paid for the self guided tour TWICE!! Never received the guide at all. Twice!!! Good thing is was only 10 bucks twice that I got hopped by. I received confirmation but once you click on the confirmation the email goes away never to be found again. So no would not recommend it.

Please provide additional information to assist in resolving the issue. Typically, the navigation problem is linked to a lack of location authorization. Throughout any event, I would gladly switch the tour for any of my other 100 tours in the United States. Please notify me. This tour is yours to keep for the rest of your life. It may be used for photos, a second evaluation at home, sharing with friends, and planning your future vacation here.

Location permissions MUST be granted for the app to work. It will not be able to locate your position if location tracking permissions are denied.

Definitely worth the money. Very easy to use and spot on with locations. We did lose reception as we got closer to Waimea but the app still worked since it was downloaded. Highly recommend if you are looking to use your own vehicle and go at your own pace. We loved stopping in each of the towns along the way.

Too cumbersome- Maybe we didn’t know how to use it, but we didn’t find it to be very user friendly. We went to the first stop and we’re lost, didn’t know what it was or what to do next. We ditched it and did it our own way. Not worth the money
