What To Expect

Leave the bustle of the city behind on a countryside bike tour from Amsterdam. Regardless of which route you choose, your guide will take you to the outskirts of the city and the countryside beyond, stopping along the way so your guide can share interesting anecdotes and background.

Your tour begins in central Amsterdam in the late morning when your informative guide provides a brief introduction to Amsterdam’s history. Then, cycle through the bike-friendly city of Amsterdam, pedaling along narrow streets and canals and over beautiful bridges.

Slowly, your cityscape changes to tranquil pastures and peaceful waterways. Keep watch for colorful houseboats, as well as people fishing and rowing in the water.

At a local farmhouse, meet a farmer and enjoy some Dutch traditions: sample farm-produced cheese and watch a demonstration of how clogs are made.

During your ride back to Amsterdam, cycle through some of the city’s parks including the lush Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s largest and most well-known park, and the woodland scenery of Amsterdamse Bos Park. Your tour ends in the afternoon.

Best day!

Best thing we did in Amsterdam! This was the perfect way to get out of the city and into the gorgeous countryside. Our guide, Rinse, was awesome!
The real Amsterdam
Steven_S, May 2024
You must see the countryside! Sure you must remember 55km on a bike you will likely end up saddle sore, but that’s such a small price to pay. Bikes are a perfect fit for the adventure. Congratulations to MIKE and our guide Anna

Our tour guide Rinse was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. He brought us out to a famous windmill, a small farm that makes cheese and clogs with fabulous demonstrations for both and bringing us on a bike ride full of country side scenery. When we arrived, all the bikes ended up being ebikes which really made it much easier and actually more enjoyable. The riding part itself was about 37 km round trip. Rinse was also fabulous and made sure to take some photos of us riding. Thank you so much for the excellent experience!
Great Tour outside the city!
Doreen_N, May 2024
Even though the weather didn’t cooperate (it rained most of the tour but we were provided ponchos to borrow), we had a fun time cycling outside the city limits and seeing the sights. The stop for cheese and clogs was a bit “cheesy” (pardon the pun) but it was entertaining. Our guide Simon was fun, witty and knowledgeable.
Get out of the city for the day and enjoy the countryside!

This was an amazing adventure out of the city and into the countryside. after 5 minutes you could not even imagine being so close to the city. Our guide, Rinse, made our day enjoyable with frequent stops and discussing the area we were riding! this was a highlight of our weekend in Amsterdam!
A must do!

Bikes and Cheese make the world go round

Hugh was excellent. Great tour, good information, clear expectations on how the biking (e bikes) would be. I much preferred this to city biking. Highly recommend
Meeting place problem
Debra_C, Apr 2024
The meeting place was not clear. We tried to find it, and even called for help with the directions. We ended up with another bike group at the location. And we missed our tour completely. We spoke again to someone explaining our situation. I have yet to hear back regarding any return compensation for our issue. I believe meeting place directions need to be written for those who have no idea where they are going in a foreign city.
Fun, informative, great guides and great way to see outside of the city
Rachel_S, Apr 2024
We had every weather going on day (April) wet, windy, hail, sun. Ponchos provided and everyone was prepared for wet day and dressed accordingly-read a review saying take gloves and hat for the ride and that was sound advice. Our guides Simon and Gus were fantastic-what a team. Great commentary and facts, kept the mood light and positive with the bad weather. Felt looked after and really enjoyed the day, in spite of the awful weather. Great to see villages and houses outside city. Cloggs & Cheese farms also good fun, bought a few things from both to support the smaller local industries.
Getting to know the real Holland.

Mark, our guide was terrific and very informative. We not only rode along beautiful country roads, we also learned a lot about the history of each place we stopped at.
Really enjoyable tour....

Really enjoyable tour. Got to see a little snapshot of Dutch landscape, villages and countryside life with wonderful guides Mark and Rinse. They were both very engaging, easy-going, fun and informative. Great way to spend half a day exploring the countryside outside Amsterdam. Fully recommend.

It’s really was amazing if I back again to Amsterdam I will take this tour it was really nice and the Guide was amazing and friendly
We all are VERY glad we did this
David_R, Apr 2024
“16 Stars!” (My wife) “If I come to Amsterdam again I’ll do this again” (17-year-old daughter) We’re very glad we did this. Stephan was great: flexible, friendly, knowledgeable, audible. He adjusted the tour a wee bit for us. This is perfect for those who don’t want to leave NL without cycling but who are intimidated by the Amsterdam traffic. I also appreciated the substance - the history and culture of it. It was especially cool to have the water management explained in theory then see it on the trip: buying cheese below the next-door body of water. More to Amsterdam than the urban Centre - and not that far!
I highly recommend this trip

Rinse was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable and likable. We had a wonderful time riding through the city and the countryside. It’s amazing to see all of the plush grass and wildlife just walking through people’s front yards.
A Jaunt Throughout the Countryside on an E-Bike!
Steven_O, Apr 2024
First of all, the new E-bikes that we had made our 3.5 hr ride a piece of cake. They practically propelled themselves. Our tour guide, Rinse, provided excellent safety instructions and local knowledge of the areas covered. The cheese and clog maker was hilarious, the 1792 windmill was interesting, and the scenery during the ride was wonderful. Rinse kept the group together despite the difference in ability. He even ran overtime in order to allow us to see everything that was advertised. We did a city bike tour 7 days before this and I believe that a novice rider is better with this excursion. We also were part of a bus tour the week prior and I think this ride gives you a different perspective so it can be done as an addition to a bus tour. It was great to have an extra bot of time to purchase items while on this tour.
