What To Expect

The Polynesian production at the Island Breeze luau has been voted 'best in west Hawaii,' and when you spend an evening at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, it’s easy to see why this Big Island luau is one of the most popular in town.

Held on the shores of Kamakahonu Bay. The luau is set near Ahu’ena — King Kamehameha’s former estate — and provides visitors with a backdrop of paddlers, boaters, and Hualalai volcano. When it’s time to eat before the show, choose from a 22-dish buffet that will satisfy even the biggest eaters, and enjoy the drinks at the open bar as the sun disappears on the horizon. During the royal procession, sit back and watch as King Kamehameha arrives in an outrigger canoe and performers offer an oli, or chant, while others blow on the conch.

Over the course of the fiery Polynesian revue, you’ll travel across the Pacific Ocean from Fiji to Aotearoa, and hear dances, chants, stories, and tales from Tonga, Hawaii, and Samoa.

Honeymoon Luau
Jackailyn_C, May 2024
The food was spectacular and the fire show was our favorite. Music and dances were awesome and we learned a lot about Hawaiian culture.
Amazing!
Brady_S, May 2024
The food was great, the drinks were well made and the dancers were absolutely amazing!!!! Would do it again in a heartbeat!!
A lot for a little
Zach_B, Apr 2024
The show was amazing I was almost disappointed because I didn’t see the pig or the fire show but at the end they showed the fire show and I loved it great time for the kids
Just looking for your cash
Jill_D, Apr 2024
Very disappointing. Low quality food. Show starts before most even get their low quality food. Lots of dishes empty. Not even close to worth the money you pay.
Lovely way to spend an evening in paradise
Linda_P, Apr 2024
Seeing and learning about all types of dancing and cultures throughout all the islands! The seating was organized and seamless. Food was plentiful and pretty good. Very close and easy to find when tendering from a ship. Customer service excellent.
Cakes were great.
Nemanja_J, Apr 2024
While I cannot say that this was my best Luau that I have attended, it was very nice experience. Food was good, but I have to admit that cakes were awesome (said by someone that rarely eats desert). Unfortunately due to evening rain program was cut short, but we enjoyed what we saw (Hawaii, Tahiti, Aotearoa, & Samoa)
A nice Luau for family

My family, including two kids age 15 and 11 really enjoyed the luau. She entertainment was great and we all learned a lot about the culture and history of the Polynesian islands.
Fantastic luau for our family of 10!

It was a great time, my family had a wonderful time. Bartender and helpers weren’t so nice. But the food and performances all together were amazing!

Plenty of good food and the show was excellent. The musicians and singers were exceptional! My first Luau and I loved it.
Awesome Luau!
Melanie_S, Mar 2024
Loved the whole experience. We thought food was very good and loved learning about Hawaiian history while also enjoying the entertainment.
Very much worth the experience
Nick_P, Mar 2024
I'm so happy we did this. I've always wanted to experience a Luau. The fire dancing and history were really cool. We also got to meet some other people, and got really great ideas for places to go in the next few days.
Subpar and Expensive Experience
Richard_R, Mar 2024
This was a disappointing experience, especially after paying over $500 for 3 people. The seating was packed, the food was mediocre at best and the performance was minimal - about 3 dance routines, and one flame stick performer. Before we barely ate desert and had one drink, the experience was over. On top of this, we got rained on while eating and watching the show. There needs to some backup/contingency plan for when it rains. I expected a lot more for such a steep price.
Not great
Lauren_J, Mar 2024
I hate to sound like a Karen but the food was awful and it started raining so they cut the show early. We were there literally an hour. It was sad.
Nice event.
Aruna_J, Mar 2024
Attended this with my family. The food was OK but the drinks were terrible. The show was great - it was a nice theme and we loved that they featured other islands as well. Overall good but overpriced.
Great history
Seth_W, Mar 2024
Great time learning about the history of Hawaii while enjoying food and watching some amazing dancing and fire spinning.
The food was amazing! The show was very good and informative!
Misty_L, Mar 2024
It was amazing to here the history and see the whole play! I like how you got the audience involved to speak the Hawaiin language. Thank you for an awesome experience!
A Must See!!!!!
Italia_P, Mar 2024
The atmosphere was stunning! Right next to the bay, overlooking the town which lit up once the sunset. The food was exceptional and plentiful. The MC truly captured the spirit of Aloha and Ohana. Many pacific islands were showcased each with their own style of dance. The night ended with a spectacular fire show that left you wanting more.
Worst luau I’ve ever been to
ashlie_p, Mar 2024
Had to be inside due to the weather. Although it didn’t even rain the entire night. We were sat in the back and weren’t allowed to choose our seating like it says. We couldn’t see anything and the service was sub par at best. Super disappointed with how much money we spent and the treatment we had. Would not recommend.
