What To Expect

Delight in Boston’s best Tavern Snacks and beer on this historic walking tour around the city. After meeting the guide, begin this Boston pub crawl in the North End, the oldest neighborhood in the city. A slice of Tavern Snacks at this end of town equals a slice of history. In fact, the infamous Great Brink’s Robbery happened here, the largest heist in the history of the United States at the time, back in 1950.

The fun has only begun. Head to Charlestown to see the sites, including the Bunker Hill Monument, the USS Constitution and a tavern that dates back to 1785. Have another helping of Tavern Snacks here before taking a quick ferry ride to the historic Long Wharf pier. Check out Old North Church, where the famous “One if by land, and two if by sea” signal is said to have been sent, and the Old State House, the oldest public building still standing in Boston. Get an amazing view of Boston Harbor and the city skyline from Fan Pier.

It’s a short walk back to the North End for a final piece of Tavern Snacks and a trip to the Blackstone Block, the oldest commercial district in Boston. The tour ends at either Bell in Hand, the longest continuously operating tavern in the United States, or the Green Dragon, a basement tavern known as the Headquarters of the Revolution. Have a cold one to commemorate the moment and toast the day.

Our group had an amazing time with Big Al! He was informative and entertaining. The tour was a great mix of history facts with some walking and plenty of stops and opportunities to sit. The ferry ride was a great addition. Loved both tavern stops as well. Al went above and beyond to ensure that our group had a great time. Highly recommend!!!

Historic and FUN pub crawl
Sondra_R, Oct 2023
This is by far the best tour we've ever been on. This tour combines Freedom Trail & US history with a pub crawl. "Big" Al is so knowledgeable of Boston history and VERY engaging! Everyone on the tour seemed like old friends by the time it ended. The highlight of the tour was taking the ferry boat across Boston Harbor and going to the historic Warren Tavern. It was so much fun!
Best tour of Boston for non-tour people!

Guide Alvin was a sensational storyteller recounting Bostons History with insight and humor. We had a ball with like-minded visitors to Boston on a lovely autumn day. Wear your sneakers and be ready to walk - we did 18,000 steps!! Loved it!

Roger was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The view of the Boston skyline from the ferry was beautiful. The taverns were very different and yet their historical background was very interesting. Roger was quite generous in his drink and appetizer choices. Great fun!

The historical taverns we visited and the food and drinks we enjoyed while hearing the history of these places
Thank you Martin!
Lauren_D, Jun 2023
Martin was knowledgeable and friendly. He was an excellent host for our group of 6. We enjoyed hearing about the historical sites while we made our way to each historic tavern for drinks and full appetizers for all. While a few in our party were slightly skeptic of a historic tour of Boston, Martin reeled them in with his fun-loving and easy going nature. We enjoyed every bit of this tour and look forward to booking his pizza and seafood tours in the future. Thank you Martin for an incredible Boston experience!
Party while you take in some history
neberhardt999, Jun 2023
Martin was a fun laid back guy. Very easy to talk to. Was always concerned about comfort and safety.
Bar food is included!!
Susan_F, Jun 2023
This tour should be called historic pub and grub tour. Apps from the pubs were included. A lot more than “snacks” as the description reads. Really fun tour!
Bad PR

We were sitting waiting and only then did we find out it was cancelled. I should have got a call or personal text
Response from Host, Jun 2023
We called you the day before the tour about the cancellation, but your voicemail box was full! We also texted you, and even contacted you through the Viator app.
Our host was amazing!...
Margie_H, Jun 2023
Our host was amazing! We never would have gone on a ferry ride if not for this tour! Martin was very knowledgeable in his history of the ravens and area! I highly recommend this tour!!
Full from facts and fun!
Becca_Y, Apr 2023
Dan and Martin were absolutely AMAZING tour guides! We stopped by places that we wouldn’t have even know existed without them. The drinks and appetizers are so GOOD and the company was even better. Such a cool way to learn about Boston’s history and also enjoy an afternoon outside. My best advice: schedule your dinner for a little later on because you will be FULL after!
