Do not take this tour if you have a choice
Roonie, Apr 2024
I learned how much the “Diamond” package cost (on top of the “Classic” package that we paid on aviator) and what included in the package. Unfortunately I learned almost nothing about Tulum or Coba. The schedule was also not the best. We had lunch at 4 pm. I was hoping that we could have given more details during the booking so we can better prepare for very late lunch. I understand that the tour operator could not control the traffic but I think lunch at 4 pm was not due to the bad traffic. Prepare for a very very long day.
Great experience for an affordable price
George_B, Apr 2024
Fernanda was a great tour guide who did her best to explain in English. She was friendly and made everyone feel included. She was accompanied by a great driver whose name I sadly forgot. Tulum is beautiful. You’ll have time to walk around and take pictures. You can walk around Cobe without the need of a bicycle if you’re in good condition. The cenote swim was amazing. They have a swing, rope to climb so you can flex and a place you can jump from. Food was good with limited selection due to the climate/environment. No condiments. Make sure you bring cash for drinks, life vests and tips. Don’t forget to tip. Bring your own water. Hydration is key. They’ll take you to Playa del Carmen 5th Ave shopping experience but who’s in Cancun for that. Make sure to spend your money where it directly impacts the local community and not Gucci or LV. I hope this review is of use to you. Safe travels.
Rushed off our feet
Gary_L, Mar 2024
The first problem was that we could not get the local tour company (Kbron) to confirm a pickup time until the evening before. While the pickup was on time, we drove north to meet the Cancun contingent and then had to backtrack. The stops at the Tulum and Coba ruins were less than hour - impossible to take in. Commentary (mostly in Spanish) was provided only at the beginning of the Tulum tour and not at all at Coba. Lunch was supposed to be 40 min but the long queu cut this to 20 min. Cenote was fine for a dip. Don't fall for the optional USD 25 'diamond' upgrade unless you plan to drink a lot of beer. If you go, bring a wide hat, shoes, water in a container (not clear plastic). Not recommended.
Trip cancelled
lvaro_P, Mar 2024
I canceled my trip more than 24 hours ahead and according to Viator they never got the cancellation from me for that reason they refused to credit my account. Now I realize that the day I tried to cancel somewhere on their side they blocked me so I wouldn’t be able to cancel properly I remember to see one sección that had the word cancel but also had another word before that I couldn’t understand any way I hit cancel and it seems that everything was canceled but of course it wasn’t and and I was careless not to make sure that they had to send me a confirmation. I just trust them. Now I know that they do whatever not to lost the business. I will never give them my business next time;if someone is reading this be careful with them.
Bus bad...sights good
Christopher_B, Feb 2024
The sights were beautiful! The bus tour was not so great! The guide was nice and informative but we wasted so much time picking people up before we made it to our first event of the day. If you are interested in seeing this sights it would be easier to get a taxi to Tulum. If anything that is where the bus should pick people up. That was probably the worst part of this experience. The sights were awesome! Coba was amazing but we only had an hour of time visit, which sucked. Could easily spend a full day there. I wondered if out time was shorted due to all the delays in picking people up in the morning. We were the second group to be picked up and it was almost two hours before we started moving towards the first destination. Either way it was fun to see the sights but this service needs to get everyone at a central location rather than just picking people up in a giant tour bus all over the place.
Do not use the tour provider kbron travel
Renae_C, Feb 2024
The company used was kbron travel. Kbron travel was very hard to get a hold of. They don't contact you with a pick up time or location until the night before. They will also not respond to any emails through their personal website or through Viator. I had to search them up on Facebook and message them on there. They were responsive with messenger. They also have a problem with communication. The night before we were given a meeting spot and time for the pick up the next day. The day of the tour, they did not show up. We were on time to the pick up spot and waited over an hour. I was finally able to reach them via messenger and they said we were "no shows. They refused to cover our taxi to meet the tour guide in Tulum which costed me 70 dollars. Total rip off. After waiting another amount of time at the ruins, trying to find internet to communicate with the guide, we discover that the guide and driver were told a different location for pick up and drove right by us. The company did not try and reach out or call (when they had my number and had clearly communicated with me on Facebook the day before) about our location. Instead they called us no shows and forced our hand to get a taxi or forfeit the money for the tour. I have reached out to kbron travel on messenger to let them know of their error but they have yet to respond. The guides for the tour itself were great. This is not a review on them. The tour itself was ok. The cenote and restaurant for eating were not great, the Tulum ruins was very quick but nice to see, and the coba ruins were ok. There was little to no explanation about the structures in coba. The bus was comfortable. Altogether this tour is overpriced.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Dear Renae: AS the description of the tour state the pick up its send the day before the tour, we send your pick up time at 10 am one day before the tour and we have proof you werent in the pick up location even we wait almost 15 minutes instead of the 5 minutes tolecerence, we are so sorry you feel this way.
Worst tour ever!
rashmimantha, Jan 2024
It seems like we were on the same tour with people who have already expressed their terrible experience with this tour. The tour was poorly organized and planned. The only thing that the guide talked about was the drinks package and the rules of being on time when the entire tour was running 2 hours behind because he didn't have enough bands for entrance to Tulum. The people who had bands waited for an hour and half without knowing what the cause of the delay was. We found out from fellow tourists later that Jorge (our tour guide) did not have enough bands so he took half of the group that did not have bands to wait in line to buy bands in small groups. Then, he had to take Mexican citizens to another line for something else while the rest of the group waiting in the hot sun guessing again. There was zero communication about anything or even an explanation or apology. If I had to google Tulum ruins, I would have and not have booked a guided tour. The tour was supposed to be English and Jorge kept switching between English and Spanish every other sentence making it harder to keep up. Mind you, he wasn't talking about the history at all, just instructions on how to find the bus and what time to be back. Once we made it to the entrance, he said bye, see you in an hour leaving us wondering if a guided tour was what we bought or missed reading fine print somewhere. He told us he would talk about the history of Tulum and no one heard a word. He was eager to walk up and down the bus collecting payments tax and prepaid drink packages which were not even cold because they forgot to put ice in the cooler. Lunch was supposed to be at 12:30 and we arrived at our lunch spot at 4:00 pm. We finally get to Playa Del Carmen at 9 PM and everyone was so exhausted from all the waiting in the hot sun that no one wanted to get off the bus. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. I requested a partial refund for this tour but the tour operator (kbron) denied claiming it was a 10 minute delay. Three people wouldn't be writing bad reviews about the same horrible experience if it was only a 10 minute delay.
Not good, could be lot better
Suryanarayana_R, Jan 2024
Guide is not good at planning the trip. Spent lot of time in heat while we waited for half of people got the bands. No cool water provided after returning from Tulum ruins. Lunch was at 4:45. With kids it became hassle. Left resort at 8 am and returned back at 10 pm. Only good thing is bus is good and amenities in bus are clean. No details provided about the Coba temples or Tulum ruins. Better go with diff guide.
The worst tour we have been on in Cancun
Tiffany_N, Jan 2024
This was an extremely disorganized tour. The tour guide Jorge didn't have enough wristbands for entry for half of us for tulum when we got there, so we waited for 20 minutes so he could go in line and buy more wristbands. He still couldn't buy enough for everyone because the ticket people apparently wouldnt let him buy so many so he had us all get in line and Jorge had my BIL take his credit card and buy 10 more so we could all have wristbands. This took another 30 minutes. Also, keep in mind that we didnt know what was happening until later in the day. He wouldnt explain WHY we were in line and why we had to wait so much. We finally got to enter Tulum after this, but then Jorge told us he would meet us back at the bus in an hour and that he would then tell us all about Tulum on the bus after we free roamed the ruins. We expected that this would be a guided tour and that is not what we got. When we got back to the bus Jorge did not end up telling us anything about Tulum. We didn't end up eating until 5:30 when we were expecting to have already eaten lunch. We didnt get to Playa Del Carmen until 8pm and everyone was so fed up and tired on the bus at this point with how the day went. Also, jorge barely communicated with us about where we were going and what the plan was, especially when things didnt go as planned or we had to wait so much. This was the worst tour we have been on and we have been on many over the last few years since we come to Cancun a lot. This was a huge disappointment.
One day adventure
Jeremiah_W, Dec 2023
Definitely a bargain for the price in terms of what we got to see and the transportation from my stay. I would say it would've been better if we had a little more time and coordinated tours of the Tulum ruins and Coba, but still was pretty good. Some folk wanted more time in Playa del Carmen for shopping, but the time there was fine. I definitely liked the Cenote the best and I got to do a couple of dives in it and someone captured a really nice shot mid-dive! The most important thing was I was able to use PayPal. Otherwise, my stay would've been a complete bust due to the issues that arise with my credit card after I landed in the Riviera Maya area.
Long day
carol_w, Dec 2023
Very long day for very short periods at the destinations. The fact that you have to buy a wristband in order to get water on the bus was a little disconcerting it’s very hot in Mexico and every other tour I’ve been on over the last 13/14 years water has been provided it wasn’t necessary to include beer and pop in this wristband rather charge for those items and free water would’ve been better idea
Tulum ruins were very interesting
Robert_W, Dec 2023
Tulum ruins were very interesting. Tour Guide couldn't speak useful English. Ruins guide was better - at least he could speak some English.
Very Positive and Informative
Linda_B, Dec 2023
I booked this tour and after, I noticed that many of the reviews were quite negative. I was very apprehensive, however, our experience was very positive. We were quoted a pick up time of 9:40am to 10am. They arrived at 9:58am. Jamie, our tour guide was very comical, passionate in teaching about the Mayan culture, and engaged with the tourists in our group. The only thing I would change is having maybe 30 min more time in Coba and 30 min less time at the Mayan village/Cenote. All in all, 9/10 for this trip and highly recommend.
Was the worst experience I never had
Rosalina_V, Sep 2023
The tour guide (Galo y Tabata) people they are rude and careless. He was smoking inside the bus. A young lady for Argentina feel sick and they didn’t help her and trying to leave her behind and we told them “no we will wait for her, his response was no she will stay here take care your self and forget about everybody else” and between them, Galo y Tabata said [those two women wants to play heroes ].
This tour was awesome!...
Jasmin_R, Jul 2023
This tour was awesome! Tour guides were kind and informative. The only reason I’m giving a 3 star is that we waited about an hour after meeting time was told. I reached out to the number provided 4 times and no answer. Also, emailed and no response. Luckily, there was another group waiting on the tour as well that booked through another site where the tour guides responded to them saying they were stuck in traffic. My recommendation is to go with patience in the beginning there is a lot of traffic and construction.
Trip was too long, and...
Suyesha_T, Jun 2023
Trip was too long, and the stays to each place were very short. It would have been better if they cover only 2 location and we can stay there for At least 2-3 hour rather than doing everything in rush.apart from this,I was picked first and dropped last it was very inconvenient for us than people coming late and leaving early
Not worth it. Find another way to see the ruins.
Igor_M, Jun 2023
Unorganized. Chaotic. Unhelpful staff. An hour late. No communication. Not enough time to walk from bus to the site, let alone see it. And they nickel and dime you the entire tour even though I paid in advance in full. This is a shady tour and organization.
Full Day Tour! Well worth the price and extra add ons!
Veronica_E, Jun 2023
Be ready to be out for 13 hours and have pesos ready. I suggest buying the drink package! It includes ice cold water or varies drinks after every stop. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of each site. Tulum is hot, bring a hat! The cenote was gorgeous and cooling, bring a bathing suit and money for the life vest. (Required to swim in cenote) The drink package includes transportation fee at Coba. Well worth it as it’s a 2 kilometer Yu distance and the bike system is an extra free at the location without the package. Playa del carmen was a short stop and nice for souvenir shopping.
Variety day trip.
David_M, Jun 2023
Great day out, varied and interesting. The historic sites were amazing, especially Coba, where we needed pedal power to actually view the remains, which was built on a vast scale. Cenote swim was lovely, very refreshing and safely was paramount. Playa Del Carmen was a revelation, lots of restaurants, shops, coffee and ice cream options. A lond day but nonetheless very enjoyable.
Was the worst tour I have...
Benjamin_C, Jun 2023
Was the worst tour I have ever been on, the tour guides George and Tabitha were horrible. The tour was unprofessional and the guides were rude and horrible . Tour ran over time and after a 6:40 pick up it was over 9pm before we arrived back. Second last stop at Coba we had heavy rain and we all got wet , air conditioner was on even tho the entire tour was cold . Worst tour ever do not book
