What To Expect

This tour combines one of the most beautiful regions in Italy with the loveliest time of day for a memorable wine-tasting experience. Meet your professional driver and guide in front of the National Library( piazza Cavalleggieri, 1) and set off in an air-conditioned minivan along the Via Chiantigiana scenic route. Enjoy the views as you travel through a landscape of cypress trees, vineyards and charming villages tucked into the rolling hills.

Your first stop is the well-preserved medieval village of Greve-in-Chianti, where you’ll have a chance to stretch your legs with a stroll around the historic town square and browse local shops. Continue on with a photo stop at lovely Montefioralle before arriving at your main destination, a family-run vineyard known for its excellent wines. Learn about traditional production methods on a cellar tour, and taste four different wines including Chianti Classico and other Super Tuscans.

The tasting is scheduled to coincide with the golden hour before sunset, so you can enjoy world-class wines, along with a snack of bruschetta and cheese, while watching the honey-hued light settle over the vineyards. On the return drive to Florence, stop in the picturesque village of Badia a Passignano for more photos and a bit of local history. The 4-hour tour concludes with drop-off at the National Library in central Florence.

We had a brilliant trip with Dimitri as our guide. He was top class, very knowledgable, accommodating, genuine and polite, he really made a great difference to our trip. We visited a butchery, wine tasting and then had dinner. It really was a brilliant trip and would recommend to anyone. We benefited from being the only people booked on to this tour and so had a private trip, so we were very lucky. Ok value for money, it was a lot but worth it, would re book.

So much fun in Tuscany!

Luigi was our driver and man oh man, was he one in a million. He was so quirky and hilarious throughout the drive. We also picked fruits off of all the surround trees for us to try and while we were wine tasting stocked up on more fruit for the ride home. I definitely recommend adding the dinner bc it was absolutely delicious.. one of the best meals we had in Italy! Would definitely do this tour again.

Our friendly well informed guide Luigi drove us to visit two small family owned wineries, where we received an insight into winemaking and olive oil production, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, with tastings. It as a lovely experience.

Terrible experience

Driver drove so fast passengers got ill. One wine tasting was from a dispensor at a grocery store who rushed us because they were closing. Dinner pasta course was very good but main course was cold turkey slices and cold mashed potatoes. We paid $173 euros and expected a good tuscan dinner. We were late to dinner because the driver got lost. We expect a refund for this tour.

I was a little skeptical at first because I couldn’t get more details from the tour company on where/which vineyard/restaurant that was included, but they like to keep it a surprise. The excursion was great and probably one of my favorite parts of our Italy trip. We went to two vineyards that were wonderful, stopped for good views in the countryside, and ate at a beautiful restaurant on the top of the hill. It started raining after we left the last vineyard so we were unable to actually sit outside for the “sunset dinner” part, but that was no fault of the tour company. The food was DELICIOUS! Do it!

Thank you to our driver Simone. Tour was what we expected and that’s a good thing. It would be better if the tour let us choose our menu at the restaurant which otherwise was charming. Of the three courses, neither of us would have orders those dishes.

The scenery going to the wineries was very beautiful, enjoyed seeing fall colors. The tastings were very generous pours. Shipping to USA was included and we made purchases from both. It is always fun to share with friends and families wine with description of winery and trip.

Poor and confusing confusion

I have used Viator for several tours in the past and all were great. This one was ok but not properly planned. We were mix groups some with dinner and some without. Some of us that had dinner included in our tour we were told that the tour is about 4 hours and should be back by 8:30 PM. But apparently that was for the ones without the dinner and we would have dinner around 9:00 or even later and would have been back by midnight. So we all decided to skip the dinner so we are back by 8:30.

DON’T BOOK!

This was not the wine tasting experience I was expecting. It was less wine tasting and more random sight seeing than anything. We stopped at 1 villa for about 30 minutes and tried 1 sip of their 3 different wines. The girl at the winery was nice and informative. We then stopped at some random places for photos. Then the last place was a butcher shop that had wine dispenser machines and we were given 5 euros each on a card. This gave us about 1-2 samples depending on your choice of wine. We were also given 1 bite sized portion each of 1 piece of sausage, 1 piece of prosciutto, 1 piece of cheese and 1 piece of bread. For the price we paid this felt like somewhat of a rip off. The description of this tour is deceiving. Also, our tour guide/driver did not speak the best English (which was advertised they would), although he was very nice. It felt as though this was his first time doing this tour and didn’t really talk or explain anything. It felt more like a taxi ride around Thea area than a tour. I would definitely not recommend. There are much better wine tasting tours for similar price.

Great afternoon tour!

This tour worked our perfectly for our trip! Francesco was super nice and picked us up at the train station instead of the original meeting place since we were getting in 20 minutes before the tour start time, and the wineries he took us to were both lovely and gave us great tastings, tours, and little snacks. It ended up just being my friend and I so it was a very nice personal experience, and he stopped at different viewpoints for us to take photos, and offered to take photos of us which was great. He took us to a pretty restaurant after the wineries where we had more wine and was able to try a bunch of different traditional foods. Then he was able to drop us off right by our Airbnb so we didn’t have to walk. Conversation was enjoyable and we learned/saw a lot. Totally worth the value and I would recommend to anyone looking to experience a lot in a short time!

Outstanding wine tour

We had an absolutely amazing time on this tour. Romana, our guide, set the exact right pace and was very knowledgeable about the region. We visited three sites, each unique, with great wines and views everywhere. The dinner that was included was delightful in a beautiful location during sunset. I highly recommend this tour.
