Not what we expected

Thought the guide was great. However, I felt the musuim was physically too tight, too warm and very cramped.... I thought we would tour his factory, but 90% was about the war.

What could have been but wasn't

My expectations were high as I knew the history of this factory about Schindler and his great work. But one, the museum itself was a bit of a disappointment as things-photos and artefacts were too crowded and one needed a lot of quiet time to go through them all. But the tourists both individuals and those in groups were too many and there was hardly any space to move around. Two the guide was probably knowledgeable but the monotonous 'lecture'-like description of the events and the story amidst the noise etc didn't do justice to the stupendous work Schindler has done. I didn't enjoy the experience on the whole.

Recommended tour without guide

Tour felt rushed - wanted to look at the exhibitions in more detail, it felt like we missed a lot. Not able to go back round! Group size was too big it was overcrowded. Headsets received a lot of feedback as the museum was so busy. Would tour the museum without a guide next - take time to see all it has to offer.

There were to many people in, it was overcrowded and couldn’t see or hear anything on the tour. Very poor! May have been different if they limited the number of people allowed in at one time.

I was so excited to do this tour, but the crowds and the size of the group made it impossible to enjoy. We were packed in like sardines in small hallways and areas, looking at each others backs and heads. I would've loved to be in the museum alone to read everything and really look at every picture because it's very well-done, but because of the crowds you couldn't see anything. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, though.

Learning of the chronology of how the Nazis systematically took over and ousted the Jews. It was also interesting to learn of Schindlers personal life - while a flawed individual, he took heroic actions and should be remembered for such.

Very moving. Very sad. And I see US falling for all the propaganda. We must know history. I would only say that the guide needs to direct the parties to move into each space so everyone can fit. I feel that is an important role. Some people couldn’t see what he was talking about

A guided audio tour around the factory for around 90 minutes. I enjoyed the tour and found it really interesting in finding out about what happened in Krakow during the war and how it linked into the tour we did the previous day to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Our guide (Dominica) was very informative and easy to understand. However, it was far too busy for my liking, not everyone is on a guided tour as you can also buy tickets to wander around the factory by yourself so we found that our tour group were in the way of others and our group was so big that there wasn’t always space to stand together while listening to the guide. I would still recommend this but for anyone that doesn’t like crowds or gets claustrophobic then perhaps find out of there is a quieter time of day to do this.

Lots of good WWII information

The tour did not actually include the factory since it was not preserved. However, there was a lot of good information about the Nazi occupation of Poland and Oskar Schindler's role in rescuing a number of Jews. Not many of the artifacts seemed to be authentic. Many were reproductions of what was used at the time. I still think it's a good tour. The lower half of the iconic staircase should be blocked off better (rather than just roped off) because it's a falling hazard if you don't know it's there behind the entry door.

Our guide was great He did a good job explaining how the holocaust came to be, the plight of the Jews in Poland and krakow and Schindlers role in saving 1000+ of them.

A history lesson about the German occupation of Poland in WW2

If you book this tour, be aware that the museum is a testament to what happened under the German occupation in Poland from 1939-1945. Clearly, this is an important museum for Polish history. If you are a WW2 buff, this will interest you. If you are thinking the exhibits tell the story of Schindler, you will be disappointed. Aside from the gallery of photos of the 1200 people he saved, and an administrative office where he once worked, there is not much more said about the Schindler story. The only original item the museum has that belonged to him is a wall map. In addition, the museum is very popular with lots of tour groups going through it all day, Corridors are very small and can get easily over-crowded, making it difficult to hear your tour guide at times--even with earphones and a microphone. It can also be disruptive when other tour groups are walking through the small corridors while your guide is speaking. If you are interested in general WW2 history and have several days in Krakow, you will want to see this. However, if you only have a few days in Krakow, I would skip this museum.
