Begin your half-day tour with a pickup at your centrally located Krakow hotel at your desired time. Meet your driver, settle into your comfortable private car, and travel directly to the Wieliczka Salt Mine without any stops to pick up other passengers. After your tour our driver will get you directly to your hotel. Please, note, pick-up time depends on the availability of the guides and may differ from your preferred departure time.

What To Expect

A staggering 1,072 feet (327 meters) deep, the Wieliczka Salt Mine comprises an extensive network of underground chambers and tunnels, most of which have been carved by hand from the natural salt blocks.

Choose your preferred departure time and meet a private driver at your central Krakow hotel, traveling 30 minutes southeast of the city to Wieliczka. Arrive at the UNESCO-listed salt mine, join up with your guided group tour and begin your descent along the underground stairs.

As you explore the surrounding tunnels and chambers, your guide will discuss the history behind the 700-year-old salt mine and lead you to some of its most impressive features. Visit the Chapel of St Kinga, a church where almost everything, from its chandeliers to the altar, is made from salt and see the beautiful salt lake in Eram Baracz Chamber.

Afterward, explore an exhibition that documents the history of mining in Poland and examine some of the more fascinating artifacts with your guide. Learn about mining techniques in the Middle Ages and study some old tools that were once used to dig and work the shafts. You’ll also pass mythic figures carved from salt and hear about the unique microclimate below ground.

Finish your tour 443 feet (135 meters) underground before traveling back up to the surface via the mine's high-speed lift. Reunite with your private driver for a relaxing trip back to Krakow, where you'll be returned to your hotel.

      A good tour but transport too cramped

      A good tour.The salt mines are amazing The driver was very helpful but I paid a lot of money for four of us to do the private tour and the vehicle was too small The price is for each person so we should have had a bigger vehicle. It was very uncomfortable.

      Let me tell you.. The mines are fantastic and well worth a visit. The guide (from the mines) was excellent and so knowledgeable. The private tramsfer option is not worth it. We paid premium to see the mines quickly and without delays, so we had more time to discover Kraków during our short stay. Pick up was on time and quick, but once we got to the mines we had to wait an hour foenthe group tour. What a complete waste of time. We could have either picked up an hour later or added to another group. Oncw the tour was completed, the driver should have picked us up at the exit. But nope, we marched another 15 minutes to the parking lot, where he was waiting. Private transfer not recommended foe the extra $100 we spent. Sadly.

      Very exciting and generally a good experience worth the while. Be advised that there are a few other options available for touring the mine as well. This is the tourist option suitable for everyone. There is also a more challenging 'Miners Tour' and other options as well.

      J'ai payé très cher cette excursion mais c'est normal ? vu la saison , Au niveau TAXI très bien. L'accueil assez lamentable . NOUS SOMMES RESTE AU FROID 20 minutes en plein vent -12 sans assistance .Bon ceci dit c'est une visite de mine avec un intérêt largement surfait dépêcher vous , il y a du monde ! .Le guide en français , très poli , mais qui se fout de la gestion d'appareil wifi de ma femme qui ne marche pas !!!l
