What To Expect

Step aboard your vintage double-decker bus in central London, and have your camera ready as you start your bus, river, and afternoon tea tour in England’s history-steeped capital.

From the comfort of your bus, gaze out at top London attractions such as Nelson's Column, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament, and learn the stories and secrets of the landmarks courtesy of the onboard commentary.

Head for the Thames River, and stop for photos at the Tower of London. Hear how this famous fortress has a dark history as a place of imprisonment, mystery, and execution. Learn how it houses the priceless Crown Jewels, and glimpse the colorfully dressed Beefeater guards who patrol it.

Stroll along the riverside and board a Thames River sightseeing boat for your cruise to Westminster. Find a spot on deck or inside the comfortable saloon, and listen to the audio commentary to learn about the passing sights. Drift past Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and beneath London Bridge, and soak up stellar views of the iconic London Eye observation wheel.

Return to land, and finish with a drop-off at Harrods. Enjoy an afternoon cream tea at Harrods with scones paired with a glass of sparkling wine. Savor traditional British scones served with clotted cream and jam, and sip a cup of tea, too.

Good, but needs editing.
Steve_S, Apr 2024
Our guide/host was very knowledgable about all things London on the tour. Unfortunately when we were traveling through the city on our vintage bus he tried to relate information about every building we passed. It was not possible. He would be explaining a few quick facts about one building and we would already be at another building. He would hurriedly start talking about the next building. It was very disjointed and hard to follow. When we were on the ground and had time to observe it was great. There was also a handoff issue. We were transferring from the river portion of the cruise to the final bus portion, but our bus was on the other side of the river. It was a frustrating delay. Some people just left the tour and headed on to other locations. Some editing might help this tour. Every building, new and old, has history in London. Be selective. The tea room at Harold’s was very nice but by that time I was ready to end my day. It took some of the enjoyment out of it.
Great tour for a first timer in London.

We meet our Tour Guide at the Victoria Coach Station gate 0. I highly recommend this tour. This is a family friendly tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous.

Fun and informative

Excellent tour guide made it fun and informative. Saw many, many interesting things. Boat tour was great too. Our cream tea was cancelled which was disappointing but we understand that it was beyond your control. My wife and I definitely would recommend this tour.
Fantastic

Alan, our tour guide was informative and entertaining. He did a good job keeping track of everyone and keeping the tour on track. All the timing worked well.
Absolutely loved this tour!

My partner and I absolutely loved this tour and both agree it was the highlight of our trip to London! Our host Magnus was beyond wonderful and made the experience for us with his extensive knowledge, quick witted humour and approachability. We’d give him more than 5 stars if we could! Definitely recommend this tour (especially good at the start of your London trip, to get your bearings of the city)
Waste of money

What a shambles, traffic was bad due to London marathon so roads were closed. However the bus still took us the same route. You would think they would have planned an alternative route knowing the London marathon was on to save having to turn the bus round in an extremely busy area. Had 2 boats cancel on us and was told we could pay to make our own way to Harrods if we didn’t want to wait another hour for a different boat. We had a show booked at 7pm so asked the tour guide if we would have enough time. He assured us that we would be at Harrods at 5.30pm latest. So we waited for the boat, been as that was what we’d paid for. We finally go to Harrods for 6.30pm which didn’t give us enough time to eat the afternoon tea we had paid for, we asked if we could come back the following day and was told no and we couldn’t have it boxed up either. So we had to leave and dash over to the theatre without going back to our hotel to get changed. This was a 50th birthday surprise treat and was a complete shambles. We paid £300 for this and was unable to enjoy part of it due to no fault of our own. We went the whole day without anything to eat due to the fact we were meant to be having afternoon tea. waste of money
A great overview of all of the things to do while you're in London
Karmen_P, Jul 2022
This was a fantastic tour and well worth the money. I added the tea at Harrods. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out all of the places to go and see, when to go and see, and how much to expect to pay to go and see. The guide gave us great tips on when and where to see the Changing of the Guards which is a top item on most to-do-in-London lists. We didn't have time to go into Buckingham Palace or the Tower of London, but we had a lot of time for good pics. This was a great overview of all of the things to do while you're in London. Get to the coach station early because I arrived at the 15 minutes early mark and was one of the last to get checked in which meant I didn't get a good seat at the top of the bus. After our bus tour we hopped on a boat and took a cruise down the Thames. Our guide was again fabulous with lots of humor and excellent knowledge of the sites along the route. The final destination was Harrod's where we had tea and scones. I felt very fancy and enjoyed the experience very much. The value for my money on this tour was above and beyond. It really psyched me up for my experience the next few days. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Very disappointing experience!

We booked this experience in mid-April for 30th May. It was a birthday gift for my daughter who lives in London. We travelled from Australia to celebrate with her. A week before we were informed we would not receive our Harrods cream tea as their was no availability. Having spoken with both Viator and the third party organiser of the tour it now appears Viator did not pass on our booking immediately as the Harrods reservations are placed in order of receipt. When I made a complaint to Viator I was clearly told it was not their mistake rather the third party provider. They offered me a partial refund which equates to less than 3 percent of what we paid. Shame on you Viator! You ruined my daughter’s surprise birthday gift and I personally find your ethics appalling. The third party provider could not have done more to help us on the day.
Great experience

Our guide was as gentle as hilarious and interesting. We had a splendid afternoon, had the opportunity to get a good introduction of London’s spots, and the mixture of the activities make the afternoon active and pleasant, thank you
I would not suggest...
Stacy_H, Feb 2022
I would not suggest booking a tour with Viator as you have little recourse if something goes wrong. There was an accident on our way to the tour (we left an hour early to go 3 miles) and we were 4 minutes late. Therefore, the tour left without us. If it had been possible, I would have called and let them know we were running late, but there is no number listed to make a call. We were allowed very limited communication via the app, so we were not able to arrange a rendezvous point later. We also were charged for 4 people even though only 2 of us were in my party. In fairness, I was contacted via the app to confirm this number but since I received no notifications that I had a message nor did I receive an email or text, I was over charged. They did provide us with Tea at Harrods that was good. However, I would not recommend it. We received scones and Tea. There was no tea caddy or cakes like I presumed and the room and pastries were not as nice as other places. To be fair, the tour itself maybe lovely. I cannot say.
Best day out in London
Linda_H, Nov 2019
The best day out from start to finish - Met at Victoria Coach Station by courier Lisa. Boarded the open top London bus and off we went. Lisa gave running commentary of places of interest and we had a Christmas sing song... lovely. Had a quick photo stop at Buckingham Palace then on to Tower Hill to board our cruise boat after an extensive tour of London. Boat was stunning another courier gave us perfect running commentary of the river. Then a super coach met us to take us for cream tea at Harrods which was very nice. Everything on this trip was perfectly coordinated and very good value. Compliments to the staff - 5+ stars 🌟🌟🌟
Very disappointed
E_L, Jul 2019
Whilst I completely understand that the heavy traffic we encountered in the morning, which meant we missed part of the tour was not your fault, I do no understand why, when we re boarded the coach around 4pm to be taken to Harrods for the cream tea, no one had checked ahead to see if the demos around London had cleared. Nothing was said and we were taken to the exact same place we'd been held up in the morning. The Guides were unhelpful, uninformative and finally, at almost 5 pm, the time we should have been at the tea, we were told we could get off and try and make our own way to Harrods. We weren't advised as to whether Harrods would still accept us as was now going to be very late. My group were unable to get to the tea. I have a disability and would never have got there in time In any case we had further plans booked for 8 pm in the City. I was very very disappointed especially as this day out was for a very special occasion and was a surprise treat for my sister, who was part of the group. I only booked it because it included the Harrods tea. We've all been on the bus and river tours before and we are Londoners, so the Harrods part of trip was why I booked
What an experience
Trek54352009562, May 2019
Our tour started on time, and we took off. The guide was wonderful, and, although we did not go the normal route, because of the marchers, it was most enjoyable. The bus was super, and we had time at the Tower of London to walk about. The boat ride was amazing. The guide really knew his stuff, and all went well. The tea at Harrods was a bit of a let down, as they did not fuss about us, but it was just before easter, and the crowd was big there. The waiters were run off their feet. I would have liked a bit of a History of the shop - but perhaps that was asking a bit much especially with the crowd. All in all, a very worthwhile experience.
Brilliant from start to finish
Melanie_O, Apr 2019
Sinead and Cameron were excellent Very informative tea followed off with a gorgeous cream tea will definitely do again
Would of been good.
Susan F, Mar 2019
The peoples march was on that day, so there was a number of places the bus couldnt go. Was told we would stop at St Pauls, never happened because of traffic. Didnt get the cream tea as badly delayed due to road closures and one of the group had a booked train that she would of missed if we had stayed on the coach for Harrods. It would have been a nice day but completely spoiled.
Web site sucks
Richard_F, Oct 2018
Web site is not user friendly, good for tech type people but be careful that it bounces back.. uggI was trying to do Jan 2019 and it booked Oct 2018 what gives
Brilliant day
lsb522018, Oct 2018
Very well organised trip. The open topped bus courier, Dominic, was really good and interesting. My Grandchild felt they learnt a lot and adults enjoyed the banter, with plenty of laughs on the way. The travel from bus to boat and boat to Harrods was very well organised. Harrods Cream Tea was the icing on the cake. Everything went smoothly and was enjoyed by the whole family. Have recommended to friends and we will do other trips in future.
