What To Expect

Depart Victoria Station by comfortable, air-conditioned coach, and travel to Stratford-upon-Avon, where William Shakespeare, England’s greatest playwright, was born in 1564. Head to Shakespeare's Schoolroom, attended by Shakespeare in the 1570s, and take a private tour before it opens to the general public, including a lesson in the schoolroom.

Afterward, take some free time to explore this charming market town, famous for its half-timbered buildings and the theaters of the hallowed Royal Shakespeare Company. Perhaps take in the views of the pretty Avon River as its snakes past Holy Trinity church, the burial place of Shakespeare, and if you wish, visit other history-steeped sites such as Shakespeare’s childhood home or school.

Have lunch (own expense) at your choice of the town's many cafes and restaurants, and then drive on to Warwick, home to Warwick Castle. Dating to the 11th century, this magnificent fortress is Britain’s greatest medieval castle and will instantly transport you back to a world of royal jousts, bloody battles and fire-lit banquets.

Head inside, and after an introduction to the castle’s history, enjoy ample time to explore on your own. Stroll around the towers and ramparts, and experience the eerie dungeons and chambers where history is brought to life with actors, special effects and waxworks from the famous Madame Tussauds. Be sure to visit other areas of the building such as the lavish State Rooms and impressive Great Hall, once the heart of castle life, and where the nobility ate, drank and slept.

Continue north to Oxford, one of England’s most beautiful cities and home to one of the world’s oldest and most renowned universities.

On arrival, take a walking tour to admire the architectural and historical highlights of this glorious university city. Stroll around the honey-colored streets and passageways, and learn about the university’s famous colleges as you behold their ivy-bedecked walls, courtyards, chapels and libraries.

Afterward, reconvene with your guide and relax on your coach ride back to central London, where your tour concludes.

Driver unfamiliar with route which lost a lot of time.
Fabian_S, May 2023
The locations were great but we were running an hour behind the entire day because the driver was unfamiliar with the route and made the wrong turn a few times so some of the activities had to be cut short. This resulted in having a severely shortened/rushed version of the school lesson and also having to practically run back to the bus afterwards because of the limited time available due to the initial delay. Still worth seeing overall but our timing was just bad having a driver who had never done this specific tour before. The guide was amazing though.

Nice trip

Very good trip. In my opinion, the only thing that might be improved is the time spent at warwick castle. I think it should be little bit shorter to have some time in oxford before getting dark.
Good tour, but Warwick was unnec5

We absolutely LOVED Stratford and enjoyed Oxford, but would have much rather had more time there than to go to Warwick. If Warwick must be a stop, then it could be shorter, you dont need more than an hour. Also wish there was more clear info on how much time you get in Stratford with the school lesson and lunch. Turns out the tour that doesn't include the schoolroom visit was on the same trip and just had more time to wander. Really wanted to see Stratford and the description made it sound like we would have time to explore, but it was really limited, We might have chosen the other option had we known it was the same trip. Guide was very friendly but didn't guide much except on the bus and then for a short bit in Oxford.
History Coming Alive

Our guide on this tour was wonderful. At Stratford-upon-Avon we went to the school which William Shakespeare attended. It was an interactive tour and the headmaster, in period garb, was there to tell us what school was like at that time and we participated in a lesson. Oxford was amazing and we happened to be there on graduation day which was wonderful. Warwick Castle was interesting, but very commercial.
Oxford, Warwick Castle, Stratford

We had Richard as our guide, he was excellent. This is an all day trip leaving London at 7:45 am and returning around 7 pm. The only negative comment was the meeting area at Victoria Coach Station. Extremely crowded and busy with multiple tours leaving around the same time
Very good--excellent guide

This was a great way to see a few sights outside of London. Everything was well planned and comfortable and we had access to interesting sites--from Shakespeare's birthplace, school, to Warwick castle and then Oxford. The hardest part was finding the right spot to catch the coach at 7:30am--and it was a bit chaotic at the station, but after that, it was smooth. Our guide could not have been more pleasant, informed, and British. A very good combination.

I am a huge Shakespear fan and I loved this trip! But the other places were also well worth the price. Each location was different and had something interesting to see and do.

Oxford University was a nice town and we walked around the campus. Stratford-upon-Avon was a lovely Shakespeare town. We weren't able to see Warwick Castle but we went elsewhere we just didn't have time at the other castle to really enjoy it. For a quick overview though, this is a good tour.

The tour was spot on with everything that was stated in the online booking information. I loved the guide who was very tongue in cheek with his commentaries. Great job!

Our tour guide, Steve, made the trip outstanding. We had a great time in all three locations, however, time allotted in Oxford was very short. Steve made sure we made the best use of that short time. Very happy we took this tour.

Disappointed that I was not given enough time to roam around Oxford. The guide has been giving long history lesson in which I was not very keen.

Amazing tour with the best guide (David) and bus driver ever! David was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the UK. His insights made the trip exciting! The bus driver was a safe driver who kept us on time and even went out of his way to help us learn how to get back to our hotel

I loved loved loved Stratford. The time there is interactive and unique. There was a market going on in the town and there wasn't time to participate, but that was understandable. I could have spent all day there. Warwick Castle is very commercial. The building is imposing, but knowing what I know now, it is not a must see. We took the Tour on a weekend and were not able to enter the buildings at Oxford, something I would have loved to do. I would love to see these tours focus on just two locations and give you more time for each, however, given the structure, I felt this tour gave more time at each place than most. Our guide was Claudia. I cannot say enough good things about her. Knowledgeable, kind and found the right balance and talking and remaining quiet. I took 3 tours with Viator this trip, and Claudia was definitely the best guide. So, bottom line is given that these tours are designed to give you a taste of several areas and given Claudia...5 stars.

Moves quickly, but we expected that. Would have liked to have spent more time in Avon. The bus pickup point at Victoria was difficult to find--we almost missed the trip even though we had departed from apartment with time to spare. More signage would be helpful. This platform was outside, while the rest were inside.
