Amazing experience - don't miss it!
Donna_W, Jan 2024
This was an amazing tour. Our guide, Ulises (I hope I'm spelling his name correctly), was great - very informative, polite, accommodating, and interesting. During the 3 hour ride to and back from all the sites, he and my husband had lively conversations that kept them preoccupied. The tour lasted longer than expected because there was so much to see, and Ulises was flexible. He never rushed us and took his time explaining the sights that we saw. As for the sights, wow, the caves are a must see! Pictures do not do it justice. The scale of it and the magnificent stalagmites and stalactites were majestic. I'm not sure you can see anything like it elsewhere. As for Taxco, I thought it was a beautiful and interesting city that is worth a trip but I wouldn't go on this tour just to see the city only. But that's just my opinion - my husband enjoyed the town immensely. The only downside was that the restaurant that they brought us to had great views but the food was so-so. I'd say the tour is a bargain at this price. The sights were amazing and so was the guide!
Great experience, come ready to walk!

I went on this experience with my mom and my aunt. They’re in their 50’s so I wanted a comfortable trip for them, and this reservation was almost perfect — comfortable car and great tour spots with a great guide for sure. I think a lot of the experience depends on what driver/guide you get paired with, and our guide Ulises was great — safe driver, knowledgeable about our tour spots and Mexico in general, plus generally amicable. He was great at explaining things in both English and Spanish, and made us feel very welcomed and engaged. FYI, this tour requires a decent level of physical ability — the caves and Taxco are both destinations where you must walk at least a little. The caves have I believe about 5km worth of walking and stairs, with an option to turn around halfway through, before the stairs. Taxco has a lot of traffic and is best enjoyed walking, but the streets can be quite steep as it is a town on a hill. Our group handled it well, and did the full cave route + walked a bit less in Taxco, but we were definitely tired out by the end of the night. Not a bad thing, and probably less walking than joining a tour bus (worse parking + less autonomy to opt out in my experience), but just an FYI!
Not as described

The Caves are great but the stop in Tasco could be better. The tour there is mostly going to the restaurant and to the silver jewellery shop. They did not took us to the cable car as expected from the tour description.
Cave and Taxco tour
WEIWERN_C, Aug 2023
The cave tour was amazing, Taxco tour was sweet and pleasant. Our driver/guide Xavier did a great job for making our trip very memorable. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Aug 2023
We are very greatful for your review, it helps us mantain the same level of service all the time so we are very glad to hear that it was an unforgettable experiencie for you and hopefully we will have the opportunity to show you more of our beatiful country in the future. Thank you so much you were amazing travellers.
Not the best experience.
Brendan_O, May 2023
The good parts are that the cave is amazing and we arrived safe at all destinations. The issues that we had are that the guide is not a guide, they are just a driver really, at Taxco you are transferred to a local guide who is really just taking you to the most tourist trap places ever to separate you from your money. You’re not feeling as a person, but as a walking wallet. I would assume most people are booking a private tour to get away from this sort of feeling. Also even as a fit person, the back seat of the car was very uncomfortable for the rise length.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
We are sorry to hear this, the preparation and functions of our host driver and guide consists in assisting passengers in any contingency, support them in whatever they need, talk about general features of the sites you visit, recommend activities and dishes to taste at lunch time, and also enter the caves with you and translate everything the local guide is saying since they only speak spanish. Regarding the time in Taxco, we transfer you to a local guide in order for you to have the closest experience of knowing the city with help from a local, but also give you enough time to explore the city on your own. The only activity that involves a store is the one where they show you the process of how silver jewelry is made, they give you a very nice explanation while your looking at all the process first hand. You may then decide if you want to make a purchase or not, but it's not an obligation. Our tours are known for not pushing forced sales upon our clients, and our staff is aware of this policy. Regarding the car issues you mention, we truly apologize for this inconvinient, we had to send a smaller van but we didn't want your trip to be unconfortable or to cause you an inconvenient. We appreciate your comment and we'll take action so this doesn't happen again. The main goal of our company is that you have a great experience and good memories of your visit to our contry, thank you for your review.
It was aight = three stars
Gary_Y, Mar 2023
This tour is very expensive, and not exactly "private/small group" since the cave portion is with a larger, Spanish-speaking group. Some parts of the cave may still been natural but majority of it is very commercialized (for example, there is a bathroom inside the cave and snacks for sale). Our translator/tour guide was generally fluent in English, but he only translated around 20-30% of the cave tours, which were conducted in Spanish. The town Taxco was pretty cute and had some neat pieces of history. Also, we arrived on time to the meeting point, and the bus driver only took a picture of the IDs of people who arrived early/on time but not those who arrived late, which essentially penalizes those who arrived early/on time. We don't feel right for them to keep a picture of our ID. Overall, there are enjoyable portions but would recommend spending your money elsewhere.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
We are very sorry to hear this, in fact our tour is considered to be a "private/small group" because our maximum occupancy is 7 to 8 passengers in our van. In some parts of certain tours our travelers must join into larger groups in some activities or landmarks since those have local guides that are in charge of those portions of the tour. Other than that, the rest of the tour is a private/small group. Regarding the caves, they have adapted certain things to have better amenities for visitors, therefore they implemented an area for restrooms and a place where you can purchase some snacks if needed. Other than that, the landmark is completely natural. We're sorry about the inconvenience caused by our Host/guide during his translation, we'll take look into this situation and keep training our staff so they can give you the best explanations and translations as needed. About the pictures of your ID's, we must request to take a picture so we can prove that every traveler that booked our tour is the same that's getting picked up at the meeting point. It's a safety measurement and policy for our travelers as well as for our team. This defenitely was omitted by our host/guide and we've reached out to learn why he didn't follow this policy with every traveler in your tour that day, since then we've made some adjustments to prevent it from happening again. We hope the rest of the experience was satisfactory. Thank you for your review, it helps us improve, since the main goal for our company is that you have a great experience and good memories of your visit to our contry.
Worth the Drive!
Cesar_J, Dec 2022
This was a trip that was worth every dollar! And a review that is long overdue :) I think it starts with the driver, who sets the tone for the trip. Our driver Mauricio Becerril was the best! He was punctual, very courteous & patient with us. He was mindful as well, as he made stops to give us a bathroom break. The ride from Mexico City to Cachuamilpa was about 2 hours. We got safely to our destination and waited to go inside the caves. Mauricio told us to take our time and he would wait for us outside. We saw bats at the entry of the caves, which was pretty cool. The caves themselves were amazing. Mind blowing to see all the natural formations that took place inside the caves. We were part of a tour but decided to leave the tour and go on our own as we couldn't hear the guide well. The caves have a lit up path and you can only go so far in as when you reach the end, it turns you around. I would suggest you were comfortable shoes, and bring water... After coming out the cave (about 4 miles walking distance to and from), we were greeted by food and beverage vendors. We walked over to one of the little stores and got some adult beverages and enjoyed some homemade snacks. Mauricio then spotted us and joined us. We then left for Taxco. Taxco is an amazing place with amazing food! The ride from Cacahuamilpa to Taxco was about an hour. We got the the downtown area and Mauricio dropped us off. He told us where to meet him after we explored the area and had lunch. Taxco is a very small pueblo with a lot of History. We enjoyed walking around, shopping and had lunch at a rooftop restaurant, which had some of the most delicious farm-to-table type of food we had throughout our trip. We will definitely come back to Taxco! We left Taxco and headed back to Mexico City. Maurcio was a pleasure to be with during our ride. We felt very safe with him. I'm certain that all the drivers hired for these tours are great but if you get a chance to request one, ask for Mauricio!

Magical caves and pueblas!
Jonathan_M, Nov 2022
Caves are a natural geologic wonder. Taxco is beautiful. Our driver Javier spoke excellent english and answered my many questions about sites along the road. A great change of pace from the CDMX metropolis

Perfect day!
Amanda_S, Nov 2022
We shared a car with two other couples who all spoke English. Chatting with them made the drive go by super quick! The caves were very cool. Definitely worth the trip. It’s hot and humid down there (we didn’t dress appropriately and we’re quite warm!). Taxco is adorable, beautiful and full of history. It was a perfect day. All our tour guides were excellent!

Not happy
Daisy_M, Sep 2022
Our driver was very serious and was driving very unsafe at times. He didn’t even offer us to use the restroom on the way to or from. He didn’t speak much. The tour itself was nice, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Response from Host, Sep 2022
We are sorry for the inconveniences during our tour, we have discharged this driver because we cannot allow him to put his safety at risk and much less that he is not friendly with our passengers, since you are the reason for our business and we cannot allow lower our level of service, we hope that at some point you will give us the opportunity to serve you again and that by that time your experience will be unforgettable since at the end we want you to remain as a good memory of your visit to our country. Thanks for your comments
Beautiful views, high up in mountains
rperez8556, Jul 2022
Taxco was beautiful! High elevation, gorgeous views. Shopping, lunch, not much else to do... Caves were very cool and expansive! Over mile walk in and mile out. 2hr drive there and back where you can see all the green mountains of Mexico and drive past a fee towns. Enjoyable day! Something different to do!

The cave was amazing. Taxco is as well. It would have been better to have about an hour more of free time in Taxco as there was very little.

Francisco was a great tour guide. Very friendly and it was well worth doing the private tour as he catered to our needs. The grutas was an amazing experience and Taxco is a well preserved town with lots of history and beautiful sites. All in all, awesome 👌🏼 experience..

Amazing cave adventure!
rlee82, Apr 2022
The trip was advertised as a bilingual tour and while our guide did speak some English, the tour of the actual cave was done in Spanish and not translated by our guide Mariano. Just keep this in mind when you book this tour. The cave itself is amazing and not to be missed!
The world’s second largest cave system and a UNESCO heritage site in one!

The teleférico from Monte Taxco provides stunning views. The caves too can be awe-inspiring. Taxco itself is overwhelming needs to be approached with consideration.

Exceptional tour with a friendly, knowledgeable guide! Taxco is gorgeous, and the cave system is too large for pictures or video to capture it!

Definitely worth it!
Stormie_F, Jan 2022
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip to the Cacahuamilpa caves and Taxco. Our driver, Javier, was kind and accommodating and also informative about the areas we visited. The caves were truly an incredible site to behold and worth the 2 hour drive outside the city. It felt like much more of a local experience than a super touristy one. Just a note though the tour through the caves is in Spanish (which I'm learning so I didn't mind and my boyfriend is fluent so he could fill in any blanks for me). Stefano, our guide in Taxco, and Javier both spoke English though since I'm not as strong in my Spanish speaking skills. Taxco was also a beautiful city and definitely worth seeing. The sights were wonderful and it's a perfect excursion outside the city.

Stunning caves, relaxing Taxco
John_B, Jun 2021
Javier was a welcoming, accommodating, and funny tour guide. He very patiently translated the Spanish-language tour of the caves for us and was certainly knowledgeable about the area (enough to give the tour himself!). Our trip to Taxco was also such a pleasure, as we ate lunch with a scenic view of Taxco, attempted to take the chairlift from the mountainside to town (thwarted by rain, though!), and learned about the rich history of the town through Javier and his associate Stefano. Highly recommend!
