What To Expect

After meeting your knowledgeable guide in front of the Duomo, Milan's immense and extravagant Gothic cathedral, learn about the history of the church, taking some time to study the facade of the sacred structure, including the statues and wicked gargoyles.

Head toward the entrance to the cathedral, going right past that long line and entering the building, thanks to the skip-the-line ticket. Stroll through the interior with your guide, learning about the overlooked nooks and corners of the building and hearing about some of the incredible artwork that's inside. Admire the 50 incredible stained glass windows, as well as the sculptures and paintings.

Let your guide lead you down the marble stairway to the underground crypt. Here, find the graves of St. Charles Borromeo, the archbishop of Milan in the 16th century.

After, come up to ground level again and exit the church. If you've chosen this tour on the weekend, take some free time to see more of Milan on your own or tuck into a nice meal at a local restaurant. Or, if you've taken this on a weekday, commence the rooftop tour immediately.

Go back inside the cathedral with your skip-the-line ticket and then ride in the lift up to the Duomo's terrace, thus skipping the exhausting walk up the stairs to the roof.

Once on the rooftop, take in the amazing views of the city, getting close-up sights of the statues, spires, and gargoyles. Take a moment to listen to your guide regale you with more history of the cathedral.

After spending some time up on the roof and admiring the views, head back down to ground level, as your tour is finished.

Kindly consider that after the elevator, there are around 50 stairs in order to reach the top of the Cathedral, and back down at the end of the tour

Amazing Sights From the Top, But need a better guide and equipment.

Being on the roof of the Duomo was amazing. But your guide, equipment and organization was significantly below my expectations based on previous Viator experiences. Guide delayed start over 10 minutes waiting for one missing group. Should not have done that. Then another 10 minutes to deal with defective audio devices that should have been checked out prior to the tour. Guide zigged an zagged thru crowds with no regard to our group and no way of locating him unless you traveled on his coattails. His microphone battery was dying mid-tour as well. He was well informed but much much too much information on each and every saint and statue in the Duomo, unnecessary. Need to weed out and only include most significant points. Sorry but i was disappointed with this guide.

As soon as I stepped into the square and saw the Duomo with all it's spires I was in awe. Our guide Simone took us through the interior of the Duomo, explaining things and pointing out all the beautiful elements of architecture and art. Then we went to the rooftop to admire the stunning views of Milan and the gold statue of the Madonnina above us. An amazing experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Milan.

Go early

No offense, but if you arrive early enough by at least 10am you can save money and just buy the ticket yourself and go up. Skip the line mid April and early arrival doesn’t require this excursion. By the time our tour ended, past 11:30 the line was long and I could see interest in skipping the line. Tour guide was pleasant and had good information.

We did our tour on Wednesday, 17/04/2024 at 215 pm. We arrived right before the tour took off so we missed the introduction of our fantastic, informative, knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide. Sorry. However, what we did not missed was the amazing history, religion, and information of the architecture, building and maintaining of this amazing Church. From the story lines of the stained glass windows, to how poor Bartholomew the Apostle was skinned alive, to the maintaining of the structure of the Church, to the breath taking rooftop views of the Duomo and city of Milan, it was all very awe inspiring. Thank you for sharing such an important part of the history of Milan.

disappointed do not book

Couldn’t find our guide and missed entire tour with no refund. She emailed me once but wouldn’t respond to where she was located in the area to meet up. Very unprofessional as other tour companies texted and share their locations so that we could find them easily. Very disappointed

Fascinating tour of the cathedral at Milan - absolutely stunning church and amazing views from the rooftop tour. The cathedral was awesome everyday I walked past it on the outside too. Our tour guide was Simon and he was excellent - very knowledgeable sharing the history and anecdotes.
