Had a lovely time and learned a lot. The plantation tour was great but for us the main attraction was the bayou tour. Our guide was fantastic. He knew just where to go and he shared a lot of alligator facts with us. I can not even count the number of gators that we saw. It was incredible. They had hearing protection for us because the boat was so loud, which was nice. Dress warm because it’s cold on the water, even on a hot day. There wasn’t really opportunity to have lunch so bring snacks to tide you over until it’s done.

The tour guides were amazing and the historical site was captivating. The value for the price was good considering they pick you up and provide transportation and take the thought process out of your hands. We accidentally were put on the wrong boat but even with that we enjoyed ourselves and the tour and the company is very hospitable and will remain in contact with our tour company to reciprocate. 2 thumbs up!

Plantation was super educational and we loved it. Captain Ernie from Airboat Swamp was Amazing!! Thrilling airboat ride, lots of educational info shared. Got to see 2 small gators — which make sense this time of year, for December.

So much fun! The plantation tour was very educational, but the swamp tour was the best! Beautiful and lots of fun! Definitely seen Gators! Big ones too! And best part they brought out a little baby one for us to hold! 10/10 great experience for our first time to Louisiana.

It was great to pack in both a plantation visit and the swamp airboat experiences into one day. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for me to listen to the Slave Revolt guide because we had to be back on the bus to make the swamp boat launch. I did appreciate the historical society's dedication to acquiring and restoring the abandoned Destrehan Home from the oil company. The airboat was a big hit... not to be missed while visiting New Orleans! Captain Sean kissed an alligator! After hearing from other tourists & locals, I would like to go to the Whitney Planation.

I loved the history of the plantation tour and feeling immersed in a different time. And the airboat tour of the swamp was the highlight of my New Orleans trip. Captain Ernie had such great wisdom to share and was a great guide. Highly recommend!

It was well organized, with enough time to visit the plantation and enjoy the boat tour in the Bayou. the airboat was very loud, but I guess it allowed us to explore areas we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise.

A must-do tour!

The tour of the plantation was top-notch! Beverly gave us the educational and experience I wanted for my 16yo son. Beverly held the group’s interest with her energy and humor, while remaining empathetic and informative all the while. I wish we would’ve had more time to explore the grounds and museum. The airboat ride in the swamp was the perfect way to end the day — so much fun for all and kids of information about the ecology and wildlife. So cool to hold a baby alligator too! Our guide was also fun and informative, but his name escapes me. Ray was a great driver and gave us all kinds of information about NOLA history and points of interest along the way. This tour is a must — don’t forget to pick up a muffuletta the night before and pack it for lunch!

Both tours were great. Evelyn expertly navigated history that can be challenging to present at the plantation. She told the story of the plantation with accuracy and empathy all while being interesting and along a good time frame. The fan boat ride was a blast! My wife had never been on one and she loved it! Our driver was a wealth of knowledge, citing a love of the area that he had developed throughout his life as a local and an appreciation for the conservation of the area.

The best tour in the New Orleans area

What a fantastic day. The visit to the plantation was very moving, our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions. The guided tour of the house was informative and free time was available to explore the grounds and other buildings at the plantation. The Airboat experience was breath-taking! Our captain had vast experience of working with the wildlife in the swamp area and was able to take the boat right up to the alligators that freely swam within feet of the vessel. The photos taken are evidence of how close they were. We saw lots of birds and fish in their natural habit. I thought 1 hour 40 mins on the swamp would be too long but it wasn't enough!

This was a great tour for everyone. Plantation was interesting with a good tour of the main house and an interesting story of the revolt. Could use more time to wander the grounds in your own. This plantation is not the most developed but it was great learning experience for us. The airboat is the way to go. Lots of fun on the swamp tour. Dewey was lots of fun and a quick talker with lots of info.

As an African American I have never been to a plantation before, so to actually see how my ancestors contributed to the fabric of this nation gave me a greater respect of the strength and faith they had. The swamp tour was fantastic, I wish I would have chosen a warmer time but our tour guide was amazing. He explained everything and found our group some gators. I highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely fantastic tours! The plantation tour was super educational with much to look at and ponder. The large airboat was a blast and was not too wild. We had a fantastic tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the alligators. We saw lots of gators! Make sure you bring cash to tip!

I would not do it again or recommend. It would be better to drive yourself and pay the prices the day of. Huge markup for these tours. No time for lunch AT all. Bad time management from the tour guide at the plantation so we missed the second tour. Overall not the greatest and lots of complaints.

I'm sorry about your experience. Due to the limited time frame, it is difficult for us to arrange a lunch time, so that's why we recommend that our guests bring something. Our snack shop at the swamp dock does offer some sandwiches as well. We do thank you for the feedback.

Captain Ernie is the best. Loved the boat ride. My grandson had a great time. Didnt get to touch an alligator but saw a lot of them in various sizes come up to boat.
