We had an excellent, informative and very tasty tour with Suzanne yesterday evening. Wandering through the streets of the French Quarter, Suzanne expertly brought the unique combination of New Orleans history and cultures to life. She explained how these shaped present day NO. Food was great and the group was very welcoming. A great way to to start a trip in New Orleans.
Have to give our tour guide a big shout out as she was excellent, Suzette not only told us the history of the food she gave us a full history of the town, diving into architecture, politics, cultural changes. Really enjoyable. A good balance of food and history.

Our tour guide was an older woman who told stories using phrases that made most of my group uncomfortable. I made the reservation and I am the only black woman on the tour. Within the 1st 5 minutes she used the phrase unwilling immigrants to refer to slaves who were brought to Louisiana. When I heard it, I was shocked, but didn’t address her directly. My team was mortified. She made several other distasteful remarks throughout our time together and it was a frustrating tour. I’m sure she was oblivious but I’m requesting that someone speak to her about her language. At $375, I didn’t expect to be disrespected in front of my team.

First, let me apologize to you and your group. Any Tastebud guide would be mortified to learn his or her words embarrassed or offended any of our guests. I will make it a point to emphasize to our guides that words do matter. I will address this matter with our staff.
Let me assure you of one strong commitment. Tastebud Tours will not shy away from including the contribution of African, Afro-Creole, and African-American persons (all of those terns are used in New Orleans) to the culture and history of New Orleans. We are taking immediate steps to address your concerns and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. I will personally make sure our guides will use accurate and appropriate terms. Words matter.
Please know that we are here to listen and to learn from this experience, and we are committed to doing everything in our power to ensure that all of our guests feel valued, respected, and appreciated.

Excellent guide and excellent tour.
Great opportunity to taste every traditional dish without committing to pull size portion. Guide gave a lot of historical information beyond food.

What a good time! This tour was the perfect blend of an informative history lesson and great food! We walked around the Quarter and visited some major attractions and restaurants. Suzette shared her own experiences of growing up here while also explaining the different preparation methods for the various dishes we ate. There were only four restaurant stops on the tour but it was filling for us and covered all of the staples we were expecting.
