Great experience
Megan_K, Mar 2024
The plantations were beautiful! We really enjoyed our tours, especially our guide at Laura Plantation. Very informative! Karen was a great guide with Cajun Encounters. We really enjoyed her stories and information while on the bus. We stood in front of Homewood Suites on Rampart Rd but the shuttle was parked in the back. Thankfully Karen came around and found us!
Worth your time and money!

I really enjoyed these plantation tours. The tour bus driver was very pleasant. The tour of the Laura plantation was excellent. The guide at the plantation was very detailed and provided a great deal of info. Oak Alley was beautiful but the tour was only of 4 rooms in the house and lasted less than an hour. It was fine for what it was. I’d recommend this tour instead of being confined to the French Quarter. It gives a very honest account of the history in the South.
Very Good

A must do for a NOLA trip

A very educational experience to visit the plantations. Rene the driver was a wealth of information. The tour guides for both plantations take time time answering questions
Great Plantation tours!

Michelle was a fantastic driver. Gave us a nice overview of the city on the way to the Plantations. our tour guide, Renee, at the Laura Plantation was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour! Our tour guide at Oak Alley Plantation was okay. The oak Alley Plantation was beautiful though! Highly recommend the tour!
The buildings and the people received equal billing.
Ronald_H, Dec 2023
The guides had two different styles and emphasized different aspects of the two plantations. Lara: a fascinating focus on the families. Oak Alley: also fascinating, but focusing on the buildings, and their contents and the operation of the plantation. Each excellent in what and how they presented to the groups.
Emotional Experience!

Both Plantations are so different and worth seeing. We had wonderful tour guides at both, and seeing them together gave you the opportunity to experience the difference. It was an emotional experience. The stories were moving. Slowly we're making progress towards making things better.
Great experience!

Very good driver… on time and told us lots of information about the history of New Orleans. Both the Laura and Oak Alley plantations were also very beautiful and full of historical facts specially about slavery during those times.
Worth every penny!

Both great plantations.
Darcy_C, Oct 2023
Both of these plantations are worth the visit. The Laura plantation had a tour guide named Pam who was very funny and informative. Go on her tour if you can.
Good food

Amy did a good job, was a little disappointed they wouldn't let us take pictures inside. Wonderful snack bar.
Except for the weather, Great day
John_K, Oct 2023
Excellent guide at the Laura plantation. Loved the stories about the families. At oak valley learned history that I had never heard before. Bus driver DE WAS OUTSTANDING! Information provided was very confusing . Was told this was an 8 hour tour. It was only 6. I was sent two confirmations. Each had different pick up points.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
Thank you for your feedback! I apologize for the confusion with our tour times. Because the plantations are an hour outside of New Orleans, the complete time that you are with our company is 8 hours, but the tour of the plantation itself is only 6. I hope this cleared up some confusion and please don't hesitate to reach out to us at 985-641-5879 or through email at info@cajunencounters.com if you have any other questions!
The slave cabins were...

We had a very knowledgeable and lovely tour guide named Janelle. She really made our tour memorable. Lots of fantastic photo ops outside.
Historical tour of Laura and Oak Alley plantations
Denise_B, Oct 2023
I researched the plantation options and selected Laura since it was reportedly the most beautiful, and Oak Alley (due to its grand oak trees). The drive was about an hour. Laura was very lovely. I appreciated that the guides encouraged visitors to learn about slavery and encouraged us to visit the museum on the grounds. There guide was very knowledgeable and detailed much information and stories. We were allowed to take photos inside and outside. There was also a gift shop, restroom, and eatery. The Oak Alley tour was very short in comparison. We were not allowed to take pictures inside. There wasn't as much to see in comparison. I did enjoy this day trip very much.
Historical
Marcelene_T, Sep 2023
Historical, informative, and glimpse of what it was like in thar era. I thoroughly enjoyed both tours, but by far preferred Laura plantation.
Must of NOLA
Cynthia_K, Aug 2023
I highly recommend Laura Plantation, our guide Pam was something else! The history of that place is crazy. Oak alley is impressive from the outside, but not as interesting as Laura
Extremely disappointed
KayeLynn_S, Jul 2023
The tours were not worth the price I paid. It It was extremely hot. For the price there should have been water and/or snacks served
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Good morning and thank you for your feedback! Unfortunately, this is not something that we control as Oak Alley and Laura are seperate companies that we just offer transportation to. However, this is something we will look into and talk to the plantations about!
