Informative tour of Le Marais

Jill is a very knowledgeable and personable guide. We were a group of 4 and she took the time to address our interests and answer our questions. We definitely left having walked many areas of the Marais as well as learning about some of the history of its Jewish and LGBTQ communities.

No show by the tour guide

The tour guide never showed. I waited for about 15 minutes, then texted. I did not hear back for about 40 minutes. I was given some excuse that didn’t make sense to me. This is not acceptable. I planned my entire day around this tour and checked out of my hotel and stored my luggage. It was my last day in Paris so I could not reschedule. This has happened to me once before with Viator, and I got a refund. That’s really not the point and not sufficient. I will hesitate before using Viator again.

Our guide Jill started by explaining the history of the area and then asked our particular interest. She then tailored our visit to include what we had told her. She was very informative, interesting and enjoyable. Being Jewish, we were a little disappointed to learn how this neighborhood has lost much of its religious flavor - in particular the Kosher restaurants.

Customized Experience of Great Paris Neighborhood

First off, between jetlag and shifting time zones, I ended up not showing up the day I booked and came on the wrong day. Jill kindly let me join the tour that she was doing that day - thank you! From the beginning, she let the 4 of us choose what would be the aspects of the neighborhood that would most interest us and then she did a great job pacing the tour to support an attendee who needed to take things a bit slower - she had tons of information to keep us engaged when we took a few breaks. She clearly knew the neighborhood and its history well.
