What To Expect

Following pickup from your accommodation in Paris, board a Mercedes Benz van for your day trip outlining the history of D-Day. 

Begin at Pointe du Hoc, where Colonel James Earl Rudder commanded his 225 US Rangers to climb the 100-foot (30-meter) cliffs under enemy fire. Travel back in time and imagine the scenario through your licensed tour guide's engaging commentary. The men managed to destroy the 155-mm guns perched on the cliff to save the lives of thousands of men landing on Omaha Beach. Learn about the battle that took place there and how it earned its nickname, 'Bloody Omaha'. 

Stop for lunch (own expense) at a traditional French restaurant before continuing your tour with insights into the German perspective on D-Day. Continue on for a guided tour of the American cemetery and some free time at the visitor's center at Colleville-sur-Mer. 

If time permits, visit gun battery of Longues sur Mer and Arromanches. Canadian travelers can request to stop at Juno Beach.

Your private 12-hour tour concludes with drop-off back at your Paris accommodation.

Our day tour with Phillipe from Best of France Tours was amazing. As a family of 6 (with 4 teenagers), Phillipe kept the trip engaging and meaningful. Phillipe was also flexible and allowed us to revisit Omaha Beach one more time as well as letting us visit a gothic church along the way. If you have an extra day in Paris, I highly recommend you booking this trip. It was well worth the money! And we would definitely book with Phillipe again and maybe go on the 2-day tour he offers to the area.

The sights alone made this tour worth it. But, when you have a tour guide as knowledgeable and as nice as Oliver it made this tour one of the highlights of our family vacation. If you have any interest in history and you want a high end intimate experience this is the tour for you.
Day trip to Normandy with a Canadian focus

Our experience with this tour was excellent! We wanted the tour to have a Canadian D-Day focus and our guide Christian made sure that we saw what we wanted. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel in Paris. We went to Juno Beach, the Canadian Cemetery, visited a monument for a Canadian air strike and visited the Canadian War Museum and we saw Canada House. We also had time to see the The Bayeux Tapestry. Our guide recommended places to eat for lunch as well. Christian went above and beyond to ensure that our trip was great! I'm sure the American version of this tour is just as great! We HIGHLY recommend this tour!

This was the highlight of the trip! Our guide was Fredrich who was amazing! Very knowledgeable--picked us at the hotel early and we got a head start as it is close to a 3hr drive from Paris! The cemetery is breath taking and very moving. Fredrich was the consumate professional. Highly recommend the private guide.

I booked this tour for a multi-generational family vacation and I could not be happier. Our family loved our guide, Phillippe who was knowledgeable and accommodating during the entire trip. I loved that as a small group, we were able to got to and stop at other sites that big tours could not go. On several occasions, we were stopped on a small pull-out of the roadway getting a narrative of the events that had occurred when other tour buses passed us by. In one instance, the site was so small, tour buses would not have been able to make the trip up the hill. Please forward my thanks to our guide and I can't recommend this tour or the guide enough. It was a the highlight of our trip in France. A must see and Oliver is your guy. He was fantastic. He picked up us at our VRBO rental home at 7am and and we headed off for the day to Normandy. He is very personable and incredibly knowledgeable. He took care of lunch reservations at Omaha Beach. THIS IS A MUST DO!!! A PRIVATE TOUR IS THE WAY TO GO
