Good way to see everything in a short amount of time
Jessica_T, Apr 2024
I don't remember our tour guide's name, but she was very knowledgeable. She had obviously studied art and history and knew a lot about the Vatican. The museum has so much artwork in it, it's almost overwhelming. Having a guide was both good and bad: she took us to specific pieces and told us about them, then walked us past other rooms. So we learned the history behind several pieces, but didn't have time to stop and look at other pieces that appealed to us. Maybe if the tour had been slightly longer we could have lingered a little. However, there were so many people there it was almost necessary to keep moving. The tour included the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. The guide told us about the paintings in the chapel before we went in, as there is no talking or photography inside. Then she gave us some information about the basilica outside and left us to wander inside on our own. I appreciated that.
Great venue - ticket system shambolic
Victoria_S, Apr 2024
The castel is amazing. The booking ticket voucher system is a shambles. Each venue should simply have two lines. One for those without tickets and one line for those with barcoded tickets bought on line. The second of these lines, can simply be machine read on presentation of the barcode on a mobile or printed out. If ID is required it can be presented at this time. The current system is a mess.
Catacombs

We were lucky to have Patrick to ourselves. He was very knowledgeable and clearly experienced in working with customers. We highly recommend him.
Not worth it.
Laura_C, Apr 2024
It was easy to redeem, but not worth it. There is no line to skip mid April. Just buy the ticket there and it would be cheaper. It does not include an audio guide either.
Horrible
Riham_T, Apr 2024
It was a Scam. The audio guide working for less than 5 minutes and for the Pantheon there is no representative to have the ticket from and the other tour representative didn't answer the phone to help. End up didn't get into the Pantheon.
Worth the visit

I like imagining how this was used as a fortress. The view from the top was 10/10. The exhibits of the museum weren't that great, but I'm glad for what I got to see. Beautiful setting.
Like the Castle but hated the tour operator
Ivette_O, Feb 2024
Purchased tour that seemed to include St Peter’s & Pantheon skip the line but didn’t. Agent was rude
Didn't get to go or reschedule

I am just writing this review in February 2024 even though I had booked the ticket for August of 2023. This review is of Viator only not the Castel Sant'Angelo itself or the tour. I booked this ticket far ahead of time as I was so excited to see this marvel, however, the week that we were in Rome (end of August 2023) it was over 105 degrees. I had to cancel this tour as I was over heated and unfortunately it wasn't something that I predicted (I was not planning to get heat sickness) so I didn't cancel 24 hours ahead of time. Anyway, I spent over $50 for nothing and Viator was no help to me. Again, this has nothing to do with the tour operator, I'm sure they were great.
Loved seeing and learning the history
Shanna_H, Jan 2024
Viator made it really easy but I guess since it’s January and not peak tourist time, there wasn’t a line for regular visitors either. But then again, I tried online and couldn’t get tickets using just the museums website. So Viator saved the day. We really liked seeing the museum. I loved learning and seeing the history!
Just not worth it
Pierre_D, Jan 2024
So I was there alone with 3 kids. I paid about 54 euros here. But ok, fortunately I had a voucher for 33€, so basically I paid 21€. I struggled to find the lady with the orange umbrella (she saw me asking other people right next to her but could not care less), then found her: she gave me the ticket without a word or a smile (total 17€…. As mentioned on the ticket - so feeling that something went wrong here). Then I still had to queue to show my tickets at the entrance of the castle (so no real shortcut - but fortunately in winter time you don’t wait for a long time). Inside, I asked for an audio guide, but this was not allowed for me, because of… the shortcut (in fact you can avoid the second queue to the desk where you get the audio). Inside I was happy to have Wikipedia… Maybe these tickets are worth it during spring and summer, but otherwise I strongly suggest to buy your tickets elsewhere.
Castle is an awesome...
Alejandro_V, Dec 2023
Castle is an awesome structure, needs a guide to understand better. It is a self paced tour and certainly you missed much information.
Very historic and beautiful building
Bert_B, Dec 2023
The view from the building was truly spectacular and it was the best in all Rome . Highly recommend historical venue.

Thanks for your feedback!
Quick and simple
Lisa_M, Nov 2023
Super simple to find the guides out front and collect the tickets. Was awesome to skip the line and go right in. The Castel itself is a must see. It has a lot of cool history and artifacts and an amazing view of Rome from the top.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Thanks for your review Lisa.
Great experience
Nita_D, Nov 2023
Would be good to have a guided tour. As history in such places is good 👍. Saved a little of time queuing
Worth the extra cost for reservation to avoid long ticket lines.
Lorraine_H, Oct 2023
Get your walking boots on. Although strenuous at times, the rewards were there. Cafe on 2nd level was so pleasant, and the rooftop views spectacular. The rooms filled with frescos and some artifacts. The history boggles the mind starting with the beginning 139AD when Hadrian’s mausoleum was started.
Great tour
Nicole_C, Oct 2023
Very cool place. The audioguide was awesome once we got it downloaded. Give yourself time to listen to all the parts, have a drink and enjoy the views. Highly recommend.
Great opportunity to see castle st'angelo
Sara_C, Oct 2023
Great to have skip the line access to go straight into the castle. Lots of information to read to explain what each area of the castle was and an amazing spot with a view over to St Peters Basilica from the cafe at the top! Highly recommend. Really interesting history.
EXTREMLY DISSAPOINTED. DID NOT GET IN. NEED TO BE REFUNDED. PLEASE CONTACT ME.
Ricardo_P, Oct 2023
When I arrived to start my tour, I COULD NOT FIND the person to get my voucher to get in. As a conseuence, I DID NOT GAIN ENTRANCE TO THE CASTILE.. I request that my money be retured. However, I am certain that in this review, I WILL NOT get satisfaction and my money will not be refunded nor will I expect that you will not contacted me further to inquire what went wrong.
Great castle, great views, but tour lacked organisation
Kristine_S, Oct 2023
Great castle but the organisation was ridiculous. We paid for no wait in line tickets, but we had to line up to show our paperwork and then receive the tickets. No problem, but there was only one person scanning documents and telephones, so it took over an hour in the sun, when everyone in the line had already paid - then we see a smaller line in the shade where you can go directly in and buy tickets........ Castel D' Angelo was really good so it was a shame this soured the experience. Excellent views of St Peter's Basilica from the top.
Great tour and loved history
Melonie_F, Oct 2023
