What To Expect

Make your way to the exhibit, staged in Vatican City, just a short distance from the famous St. Peter's Basilica. With your prepaid admission voucher in hand, you'll be guaranteed admission to this popular exhibit. Embark on a self-guided exploration of the machines, paintings, and famous frescoes.

Room I: Flying Machines and The Last Supper  features the artist's flying machines, including a prototype of a hang glider and the Aerial Screw, a predecessor to the modern day propeller. You'll also see a life-size reproduction of the Last Supper. 

Enter Room II: War Machines to see artillery and war machine drawings from da Vinci's Codices, including the Multi-Directional Gun Machine with twelve barrels, a lethal Cannon, and a Catapult. 

Room III: The Perspectives contains the artist and inventor's studies in the fields of Music and Optics, including the Double Flute, the Projector and the Perspectograph. You'll also see the Room of Mirrors, which allows an object to be viewed in its entirety through use of 8 mirrored walls. 

In Room IV: Principles, you'll learn about which everyday objects exist because of da Vinci's genius, including the bicycle, the spring, the life preserver, and others. 

The last Room V: Paintings contains 20 works of art, including reproductions of some of Leonardo's most famous paintings.

  • All participants who are 12 years and older must present a Reinforced Green Pass that is valid in the EU and has a verifiable QR code. Reinforced Green Passes can only be obtained by uploading either proof of full vaccination or proof of a Covid-19 infection within the last 6 months to either the Green Pass or Covid Certificate app
  • All participants are required to bring and wear FFP2 masks. Blue surgical masks will not be accepted

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Great activity for all ages!

Great way to see and learn about Di Vinci’s genius inventions and paintings. We were very tired from so much walking all other days that we wanted a lighter activity for a change- this was perfect! It is a small museum but going at our own pace was a nice change. This is great for all ages.

This is for 3rd grade kids, at most. The place is small with obviously only reproductions. The bottom line is that you can perfectly skip this place and save some bucks that can be used for other purposes.

Nice but not a must…

Very interesting and interactive but the audio guide was not what it could have been in terms of presenting the information in an interesting way. A video about his life would have been a nice addition as well as the application of the inventions today. Not a must see, but nice filler activity with kids/teens.

Some interesting inventions, with useful audio guides. Could’ve been a little cheaper, as considering the museums size, it seemed a bit pricey.

Easy to get tickets to the museum and go in at any time that suited us. So easy to go round with the commentary . Very clever way of scanning each exhibit at your leisure for the commentary. Fantastic and value for money.

Very nice museum. Educational and nice gift shop. I went with my 22 year old daughter. There were kids under 10 running around like it was a play ground. Do not recommend for small children.

Tourist trap - avoid, avoid, avoid! Misleading exhibits. Nothing in the museum is authentic, nothing experiential about it. Waste of money!

On the plus side there is air-conditioning. On the down side, there's not alot of information about Da Vinci himself, and several models on display have disclaimers stating that they may have never been developed or used by Da Vinci.

Una exposición muy instructiva

Exposición muy bien montada sobre Leonardo, primero hay una serie de máquinas, muchísimas máquinas, muchas de ellas con las que se puede interactuar y ver su inventiva y luego se pasa a una exposición pictórica donde con la audioguía te va explicando con bastante nivel de detalle cada cuadro, con se hizo y por qué y en qué circunstancias. Todo muy recomendable
