This tour includes a professional English-speaking driver that gives commentaries from the vehicle.
Due to strict Italian laws that protect licensed guides, drivers can only comment and explain the sights from inside the vehicle, and are not allowed to do so once they are outside the vehicle.

Please note that if mass is taking place in the Basilica of St. Peters, entrance may be restricted. In high season, lines to enter the basilica can be very long. There is no fee to enter the church but shoulders and knees must be covered.

Perfect one day in Rome

David was an awesome guide. We had a great time and saw all the main sites and were back to the ship on time. We didn't have entrance tickets to any sites but I think this is the best way to do it if you have just one day. David gave us a restaurant recommendation for lunch and we had the best fettuccine alfredo ever!

Our tour guide Matteo was on time and a good driver. Rome was a distance away from our cruise port so along the way Matteo told us about the area. He even stopped for me when I needed to use the restroom, unexpectedly. He brought us to almost all the sites on the list and since we had inside Coliseum tickets while others did not, Matteo dropped us off and let us go for 45 min and then picked us back up. With a prompt by Matteo, It was a group decision to do a sit down lunch at a restaurant, but I would probably not recommend this. I felt it was not worth the extra money and it limited our time by sitting at a restaurant. The food was mediocre and it cost another 40 Euros for pizza and a drink. In hindsight, I would have preferred to see more of Rome and perhaps just grab a quick sandwich on the go. Rome was extremely busy. We did not have enough time to go into St. Peter's Basilica which was something I wanted to do. Matteo did a good job explaining all the Roman sites and the history of them. He was a good tour guide and I would recommend him for future tours. If coming from a cruise be mindful that there is a lot of travel time to and from Rome and this cuts into your tour time. Overall I would recommend this tour to get a taste of Rome/Italy, but if you want more time at each site you need more days or focus on less sites to see.

Terrific Tour of the Sights in Rome

This was a terrific tour due to our amazing guide, David! He showed us all the highlights of Rome and was extremely informative! And his personality was absolutely the best! Informative, kind, funny, and so charming! We have been to Rome several times so did not miss standing in line to get into the sights as just seeing them from the outside again brought back so many memories. Along with the usual places such as St Peters, the Coliseum, Spanish Steps, Pantheon etc. we loved walking around Piazza Navona while a violinist played beautiful music. We would highly recommend this tour. (And be extra glad if you get the Incredible David!)

Matteo was our driver and guide ,Matteo English was very good ,Matteo as a guide was first class, taking us to the sites in Roma that was worth seeing .Matteo would drive the 8 seater as close to the sites ,so very little walking involved around 50 meters to 100meters. Matteo would take us to the rest rooms throughout the day and eating/drinks shops so we would not be paying tourist rates. Matteo timing throughout the day was very good and fitted in two extra sites for us to see .The private tour expense is costly at first but when you look at the whole day experience of ,having to see as much of Roma in one day ,it was worth it ,for that alone ,as well as having the cost saving throughout the day on were to buy tickets for the sites and where not too etc so i would highly recommend this mode of visiting Roma.

Fantastic trip. Matteo picked us up from the gangplank of our cruise ship. New 8 seater minivan with most importantly good air conditioning. He gave us an overview of the origins of Rome on our trip from the port which was under an hour on good roads. First stop on a hill overlooking the city. A magnificently sculpted fountain was a precursor to the spectacular sights still to come. Next stop the Vatican . As it was a Sunday the museums including the Cistine chapel were closed so a shorter stop than if they had been open . Nonetheless the main square and the surrounding buildings were breathtaking. Back in the van and onto a beautiful square with 3 magnificent fountains. Off again and onto Capital hill and the forum. The sheer scale and magnificence just blows you away. Then the pantheon and the Colloseum . Unbelievable.!! Matteo was able to park close on each of the many stops so no long hikes in the sun before getting back into our air conditioned sanctuary. Next a short break for lunch. Matteo took us to a cafe/restaurant obviously popular with the locals. A great choice of Pizza pasta and other local dishes . I had a beer and a big plate of fresh fried calamari while my wife a large slice of pizza and a soft drink all for a very reasonable €16. Next the Spanish steps which although definitely worth seeing were somewhat underwhelming compared with what we had seen before. Finally to the Trevi fountain and the customary throwing of coins and making a wish to one day return to the Eternal city. On our way out of the city we stopped for an ice cream again at a place popular with locals and at €2-3 much better than the €10-12 offerings in the centre of the city. If you only have a day to visit Rome I would highly recommend this trip as it fits in so much. Thank you Matteo for an unforgettable trip. Hope our wish we made when throwing our coins in the fountain comes true and we will return. Grazie Mille.
