Francesca was very informative, personable, and a great communicator. This tour exceeded expectations. Even though the food was fantastic, it was Francesca's wonderful personality that made this it a highlight of our Rome visit.

More food than we could eat. Our guide, Gulio, was fantastic. He was informative and just down to earth and enjoyable to talk too. We sampled everything from awesome prosciutto, varieties of sausage, cheeses and wine from a meat shop. Two types of maritozzi (sweet bread with cream), cannoli, pizza (multiple varieties to pick from) and finally a sit down dinner meal (Italian style- pasta/meat). As a matter of fact, we ate so much previously that we could not start the second course of our dinner. Lastly, of course, a stop for gelato (always have room for that). While walking from shop to shop, our guide talked about the neighborhoods and landmarks and places to go. Thanks for this tour, we had a group of 6 with 4 older teenage boys that still talk about the food on this tour.

This food tour was absolutely awesome! Our guide was amazing and we ended up leaving with leftovers for later! We were taken all around the neighborhood and even one of the sights that we wanted to see but had yet to find (the Egyptian pyramid of Rome). The amount of food and wine that we were treated to was definitely well worth the price. Bring your friends and empty bellies!!

Our tour guide was absolutely excellent! He was very knowledgeable about all the food we tasted and it’s history, even seasonal items, and medlar growing on trees outside the buildings. He was very accommodating of mobility issues, and re-ordered the tour so that we would be able to try everything even though we were too exhausted to finish the whole tour. He was extremely nice and let us go at our own pace! I certainly recommend this tour as all the food we tried was absolutely excellent, none of the typical tourist foods that are in the main streets but lots of delicacies we wouldn’t have found ourselves.

We did discover some nice places to eat, however, the tour guide was very hard to understand. Her third language was English (She was from Spain, living in Italy) and walking around it was so difficult to understand. Because of this, we barely understood where we were and the history which was the whole point. They said we would get an email with all the names and addresses of where we ate, and that never happened. Cute but not worth the amount of money you pay. You can tell the integrity of this tour by how they respond to customer reviews- doesn't that say it all?

Dear Tanya, we are sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Moreover, we are also sorry that you did not simply reach out to us for list of places already back in JULY when your tour took place and we would be happy to re-send out the list of places and some of the recipes. Namely, these two documents are being sent out from our reservation system and frankly there seems to be a problem with it's content. Thus, we will send it out from Viator messaging tool and are hoping thay you recieve them and find them useful for future occasions.
In any case we do appreciate your feedback about the difficulties of understanding our guide. While she does normally run spanish tours, she sometimes does tours in english as well and by far noone has complained that she would be difficult to understand, as she has the linguistic and professional qualifications needed for this tour - but we will think twice before assigning her an english food tour. Regarding our responses to the reviews - we know what the tour is about and are going to stand behind it. Immediately after the first bad review, we revised the tour and improved it. However when recieving a bad review from a client who did not read the tour description and claims refund for something that was never promised to him - we are not going to allow it as we respect our guides, our partners and our resources that we invest into this tour to offer our guests an unforgettable experience.

We imagined this tour as an opportunity to relax, enjoy a variety of food and learn. Instead we were lead down dirty side streets with trash bins. We were given little bits of food and in most places there was no place to sit. Wine was a rarity. One of the places we were supposed to visit was even closed!!! We paid $262 for two people and this was FAR from worth it. We had much better food experiences in Rome for 1/5th of the cost. Worst, we feel we lost an entire evening of our vacation with this tour.

Dear Martin,
while we appreciate every constructive feedback, it is important to distinguish between the truth and lies, and even if one cannot suit everybody's needs, it is important to point out the facts.
After talking to our guide who ran the tour it seems that you expected a dining experience that would visit a maximum 3 places, however, the fact is that the tour is as presented on Viator: it visits a variety of places and it involves walking with some sightseeing tasting different types of foods at authentic shops.
Wine was a rarity? You two drank a liquor + a full bottle of wine (0,75 l) + glasses of wine on the tour altogether and it was only the two of you on the tour, so the definition of what is a decent amount of alcohol is relative to each person’s preference and drinking habits.
The portions at each stop are not very big as we do want the clients to experience the diversity of local cuisine and not getting stuffed after the first 2-3 stops. However, the description clearly says that we "eat as Romans do": This involves street food shops, local deli's, pastry shops, pizza places, restaurants … and the way of serving and consuming of the food at some places is on the street – as the name “street food” suggests.
Moreover, you sat in the majority of places - in 2 out of 7 there were no chairs due to the nature of the shops where customers eat standing so claiming that in “MOST places there was no place to sit” is simply a LIE.
Not to mention that you took the photos of each meal prior to starting to eat the meal in a "trendy"/"Instagram friendly" way, so the “bits of food” - must have not looked so unattractive to you.
If you found the streets of Rome dirty, this is not in our domain – the tour takes place in the city center, so streets are amongst the cleaner in the city, so if it was messy at some places for the time of the tour it could have been the “bad day" for a communal cleaning service.
Thus, we are reporting this review to Viator/Tripadvisor, as it is humiliating and untrue. Also, and are kindly asking you to read the tour's description well before booking any tour the next time.

The deli at Campo De Fiora was good. Other foods and stops small amounts and places I would not have chosen to eat, mediocre quality. Read some reviews, come hungry. Not so on my tour. Guide was nice and tried hard to make up for company inconsistencies of quality and was overpriced worth half of cost. You may want to avoid and save the $ and splurge on a nice restaurant instead.

While the "quality" of food can be relative, we will surely double check all the circumstances, as our tour covers the places/shops that are highly popular among the locals and have been cooperating with us for a very long time.
Regarding the prices - yes, they did increase in the whole industry which may also be the reason for smaller amounts of food. However, it is worth mentioning that for this price a small group size (private tour in your case) where each group member receives the full attention of the guide, is guaranteed.

This tour had some of the best food stops in Rome. Who doesn’t want to try traditional Roman pizza, pasta, cold cuts, cheese, cannoli, gelato and vino?
Come hungry so you can appreciate all the food stops and varieties of choices. Our guide was marvelous. She was witty, charming and full of information about the tour stops and foods offered.
Great way to see the city, eat dinner and make a new friend.

Our food tour with Francesca was a fun evening that exposed us to food and shops that we would likely have never tried on our own. By the end of the night we were all full from trying everything from desserts, to street food, to traditional pasta. Do not eat before going on this tour or you will be too full to enjoy all of the food. I recommend taking this tour early in your trip so you will have a better understanding of the food and the better places to eat while in Rome.

An enjoyable walk around Rome’s streets, tasting local cuisine (pizza, meats/cheeses/wine, suppli, slow-cooked pork, battered fish), followed by a sit-down meal (pasta and wine), finished off with gelati. The guide was very friendly and did a great job given that it was her first tour! This tour would be best to do on your first day or two in Italy.
