Our tour guide was Kimberly. She highlighted many of the San Francisco attractions and was able to provide additional background information about them. Muir woods was amazing! We highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting the bay area.

A Must!

It was a great experience! Muir Woods was incredible! Our tour guide was an Irish guy that had quite the gift of gab and knowledge of the area! Truly a great experience while you’re in San Francisco. Sausalito is so pretty!
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Muir Woods is a gem...and so close to SF. Thanks for joining our tour!
Muir Woods tour in November
Kevin_M, Nov 2023
A Nice tour. Beautiful walk through the woods especially since we were the only peoplein the park at 0900. I wished that Viator used only one avenue for communication. I found it a little confusing when they used email, text or whatsapp to send me messages. Our stop in Salsileto was to early, most places weren't serving lunch yet. A side trip to Muir beach might be a nice add on in the future.
Response from Host, Nov 2023
Thanks for your commentary. We will use it to continue to refine our tour design. And we will pass your comment about communication methods on to Viator. Travel safely home.

There was static on the intercom in the back of the bus so could not understand the guide very well. Might have been combination of the static and his accent. Very informative though and nice and helpful. Also Viator sent too many emails and messages; some of these had no content.
Great experience!

Bus driver was amazing. Super great driver, easy to understand and very informative. Highly recommend!
Relaxing and stress free sightseeing

I loved being able to see the must-see spots in San Francisco without the stress of planning myself & having a knowledgeable, friendly guide to provide commentary along the way. Joe was wonderful
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Thanks for the great review. Muir Woods is a very special place and so close to San Francisco. Let's tour again soon!
Highly recommend

Kenneth was oustanding as our guide! Went out of his way to answer questions and assist. Terrific knowledge of Muir Woods and knew answers and expounded on our queries.
Fantastic guide and sites, unbearable administration.
DiePhoo, Jul 2022
The actual tour and our guide Randall were fantastic. Randall was very personable and knowledgeable. We had plenty of time in Muir woods and Sausalito. Take the ferry back if you are not in a rush and head down to Fort Baker for a magnificent view of the Golden Gate Bridge, especially if it was foggy in the morning. The whole booking process was horrendous. We had two different pick up places, three different times in three different emails and five different texts. That part needs to be smoothed out.
Worth the bucks!

Great tour! Our guide was laid back and super informative. Muir Woods is amazing and Sausalito was a great stop on the way back. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Thanks so much for the recommendation. I hope you took the ferry back to San Francisco from Sausalito...its a great ending the day. All the best.
Muir Sausalito tour
Laurence_Y, Mar 2022
Great tour. Joe was very well informed and gave us tips on the way to Muir, which was fantastic. Would suggest passing out local chamber maps of Sausalito though. We missed out on visiting the arts area just outside Sausalito.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
Thanks for joining our Muir Wood and Sausalito tour. It is such a nice way to spend a morning. Please come back again, soon.
Disappointed
Donna_M, Sep 2021
The weather was beautiful and the area was very clean and I felt the time allotted was sufficient. But I was told I could bring my dog if it was a service dog but was not allowed once I got to the Muir location. It needs to be explained in more detail what type of service dogs are allowed. I had to leave my do with the tour guide on the bus. The tour guide was very nice and helpful
Response from Host, Sep 2021
Sorry to hear about your experience. For readers of your review, allow me to clarify. Extranomical is fine with either service dogs or emotional support animals on our tours. The national park in Muir Woods, however, does not allow "emotional support animals" in the park to avoid incidents. We will try to make that more clear on our website. Thanks for the review!
Nice and peaceful

Walking between the trees. Great driver. He knew a lot of details of area. Negative was initial fellow that handed out tickets. Also confusion of where I was supposed to be picked up.
Response from Host, Sep 2021
Thanks for your nice words. Sorry to hear there was a bit of confusion about the pick-up details but glad you had a great day! Let's do it again soon.

Simple to consider a hire car and do it yourself however having this particular driver and guide was by far a better option ! We lucked out with a European (German) guide. Us Scots and Brits always joke the Germans don’t have a sense of humor but his “patter” was great ! Nice to not have to worry about the roads and be taken “well care of”. We took 4 via toe trips this week - all on time and as advertised - Really appreciated !
Don’t waste your money!
Kimberly_M, Jun 2021
This was not a tour- it was a rushed bus ride to Muir Woods. The driver was friendly, but didn’t give a tour. He simply said “next stop” and then gave the time that the bus would leave. Additionally, the description says that they pick up from several of the hotels. This is false! They pick up from ONE hotel or from their office. I recommend renting a car and enjoying a non rushed experience. This was a waste of money!

FABULOUS!
Lisa_L, Jun 2021
Our tour guide was awesome. He was very personable - he had a lot of great information. The tour itself was also excellent. The scent of the trees once you arrive at Muir Woods was amazing - I never expected that. The beauty of it all was just spectacular! Our visit to Sausalito was fun too - great little shops. Highly recommend this tour!!!
Fun trip when not on the bus.
Mark_F, Jun 2021
Muir Woods was great, we were fortunate to have great weather. The tour guide Jill was also great, very informative and helpful. The tour bus was very cramped, hot and uncomfortable.
Muir Woods is beautiful
Sara_G, Jun 2021
Muir Woods was amazing and Sausalito was beautiful. Our tour had to be rescheduled at the last minute due to a driver calling in sick. They were able to get us on a tour the next morning. The driver was late picking us up. Tour guide (Gino) was knowledgeable and informative
Great half day tour
John_K, May 2021
Alberto was a fabulous driver and tour guide! Funny, personable and full of information. He made the drive very interesting! Obviously Muir Woods is amazing and Sausalito was picturesque. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Jun 2021
Thanks for your kind words...I'll pass them on to Alberto. Hope we can do it again soon to a different SF attraction.

The trip was canceled 10 minutes before after it cost me to travel to pick up location. They are selling tours that are not running
Mostly great - more Muir and less Sausalito, please!
Lynne_D, Jan 2020
The good: Muir Woods is fabulously beautiful, and a treat after a few days in the city. Well worth the fairly short trip. It wasn't much colder than the city itself. Our driver, Mr. Chabli, was informative, attentive, and humorous. After the Woods, he was the highlight of the trip. The cafe was limited but had decent enough food, The two bookstores were standard (the one by the visitor center is much smaller) and the lines for the women's restroom were long (also, sadly, standard.) . The main trail is actually a wooden pathway, which makes it manageable for those with mobility concerns. The bad: Many of us on the tour noted that we'd rather spend more time at the Woods and skip Sausalito. The hour and 15 minutes went by so quickly and those who walked the longest trail sprinted to get back on time. I'd prefer a trip that used the time spent in Sausalito at Muir Woods. Keep the drop off in Sausalito for those who want to spend time there and catch the ferry back. The ugly: Representatives from both companies were very helpful in resolving the problem, but there was a major communication snafu when we were shuffled to another tour company (gray line) when the original tour was canceled. This would have been fine except gray line was told we would be on the 8 a.m tour and we were told we were on the 11 am tour, which had been sold out for several days. Luckily, there were no shows for the 11 tour and we got to go.
Muir Woods Worth the Trip
Heather C, Oct 2019
The only downside to this trip is the brief time you have in Muir Woods - it's 90 minutes in total. We did the more ambitious hike to the 4th bridge up the hill ridge trail, and to really experience the woods it is best to be able to stand/sit in the groves, and enjoy the silence. We had to really turn up the speed on the hike back to make it back to our transportation on time. The woods itself is breathtaking - a special place worth remembering, and the smell in the air is so fresh. One other small detail - our entrance to the National Monument of Muir Woods was NOT included with this tour price - it was $15 for an adult, no charge for kids under 16, it would have been good to have more clarity that the tickets were not inclusive of this. Another tip, the roads accessing Muir woods are narrow and very windy. If you are taking younger children who get motion sick, advise to take Gravol a half hour before the drive out. The shuttle driver was excellent, very professional, and gave a good overview of the area and also gave some narration in San Francisco. A great guide.
Response from Host, Oct 2019
Bridge FOUR...great hike and you got to see all the highlights on that trail! You'll be happy to know that we've listened and now include the Muir Woods entry fee within the tour price. Thanks for all your good suggestions.
