Best food tour in Japan

This is hands down one of the best tours I’ve been on. Amazing communication and a wonderful experience and atmosphere. I felt as close to a local as you can get as a tourist. The information learned on the trip was extremely useful in everyday life in Japan and the food and drinks were delicious. I have already recommended it to a friend and will recommend it to anyone who plans to come to Japan. It is just as fun being a solo traveler as it would be in a group in this tour. No one feels left out. :)

Our tour guide, Akira, was incredibly nice, friendly, and exceptionally funny! Initially, we thought the tour was a bit pricey, but it proved to be well worth it as we got to sample a variety of dishes and several alcoholic beverages. There was enough alcohol to get everyone a bit tipsy! :D Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I highly recommend it for those who have just arrived in Japan and are looking for a great starting point to explore the food scene.

"Aki, our guide, was so much fun! There was a lot of "kanpai's" that night as he took us to several little bars. We had a great group of travelers who quickly became friends. We ate until we were full then we all went out afterwards. Great time.

I believe you misunderstood what I explained about alcoholic drinks on the day. I served many varieties of Japanese drinks as I let you have plum wine, Shochu, Japanese whisky, Japanese beer and Sake.

Our guide was amazing and energetic and had a lot of energy, but I didn’t really think this was an all the way “eat like a local” thing. On another tour we had hibachi and yakitori. Where we cooked the food ourselves. This is huge in Japan, and don’t understand why it was left out. Also the last stop should have been karaoke. They took some really bad looking pics of us when we weren’t looking at the camera why I dropped a star.

We were out with a largish group (20~ people) with Aki and his assistant and had a really fun time on our first night in Tokyo! I won’t spoil the evening but rest assured you will be fed, watered and shown some true Japanese hospitality! Take the tour and enjoy the night ;)

The food and drink of Tokyo and Japan is unique. This is the way to experience this. Multiple restaurants to sample all the wonderful tastes. The guide was a kick, so much fun. We also had a great tour group, that helps.

This tour was amazing. Aki-san was very entertaining and funny throughout the whole tour. Definitely recommend this for others to try if you want to try some good food in Ueno which doesn’t get the same attention as say Shinjuku. Also go hungry as you will be stuffed by the end of it. Plenty of drinks too with the food. Only thing I wish for was better weather as it was freezing outside but other than that it was a fantastic tour.

Although the weather was a bit uncooperative Aki put together a great evening! In spite of his warning to COME HUNGRY, we weren't quite up to the task of a very full and thoroughly enjoyable menu. We've done several such tours in our travels, but Aki was among the best guides we've encountered! High praise!

Akira was an awesome guide who brought the tour to life with his humour. The first stop was a local restaurant with a boat tray full of sashimi as well as fried tofu & eggplant dishes with a "soft drink" beer. A short stop at a standing beer for a few quick drinks and then onwards to some delicious chicken ramen. Definitely recommended
