Tour time: from 8.00 a.m. to 14.30 p.m. We pick up customers from all the hotels on the Mayan Riviera from Tulum till Cancun starting from one to two hours before the trip departure depending of the location of guest's hotel/accommodation. The pick up time will be confirmed at the time of the reservation by email.
What To Expect
Meet your guide at your hotel for an early morning start, then have breakfast at the dock as your guide briefs you on safety and protocol for finding, spotting and swimming with whale sharks. Learn about the behavior and habitat of the gentle, filter-feeding shark, which can grow up to 40-feet (12-meters) long.
Search for the whale sharks in groups of up to 10 people in a boat, visiting a series of known locations where they congregate and feed. Slip into the water in groups of two—your experienced guides stay in the water the entire time. Focus on the experience without worrying about photos, as a professional photographer will accompany your group throughout the day.
Pause for a box lunch and ceviche at picturesque Isla Mujeres, where you can soak up the sunshine or head back into the water for a second snorkeling session. Make the return crossing to Cancun with a cold soda or beer, and finish the day with return transfer to your hotel.

Our guide, as well as the diver who led us to the whale sharks was amazing. They worked very hard to make sure everyone had the best experience possible. We were able to see several whale sharks, and get very close to them as well. What I didn’t expect was the number of boats and people who were also doing the same thing as we were. Between the people, the other boats, and the somewhat rough waters it was a little nerve-racking. The first time my husband and I entered the water, we were a little overwhelmed. The second time out the guy took me by the hand, and it was a much more pleasant experience. No fault of anyone, but several people on our boat were seasick. Dramamine is a good idea if you’re sensitive to the motion of the waves. After we saw the whale sharks we went back to Isla Mujeres, and were able to swim in the calm waters of the island . We then had a wonderful lunch, and headed back to Cancun. It truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity, though I wish we had more time in the water and less people and boats to deal with.
