Very memorable tour! Our guide, Daniel, was very friendly and full of knowledge about the areas we visited and Mayan culture. We learned so much that day and left with a greater appreciation of the history and culture! Bernardo, the driver, was also a excellent and made the day go very smoothly. I recommend a good nights sleep prior to this tour, as it is action packed. Chichen Itza was gorgeous and the tour was very informative. The lunch buffet was delicious, especially the pork tacos. The cenote was so beautiful and refreshing to swim in- jump in, you will not regret it! Overall a great experience!

All worth it!
Maricar_S, Feb 2024
I usually booked way advance but with this one I did the day before while at the airport. I like the service and options given to me by Viator agent where I can choose the option Im more comfortable and it fits my budget. We booked a Chichén Itza Early Access tour with the option of Hotel pick up from Amigo Tour. It was so convenient and well coordinated. Early access is way better coz there’s not much people not too crowded to take pictures .. guess what there’s only 3 buses when we went but after we’ve done the tour omg! It was so packed. Our tour guide Frank from Amigo tour Is very knowledgeable and shared rich information about the Mayan culture. He looks serious to me at first but nope he is very fun, He will explain the story of every structure step by step and makes the experience easy for you to imagine how it looks like before. He will also give you a heads up of what to expect and be aware as a tourist in the area. The Cenote and the buffet lunch was all worth it to culminate the trip. It’s a fun and informative experience. Take pictures at the same time enjoy the moment!

This experience was absolutely beautiful and completely worth it ! At Chichén Itzá the guide will spend about an hour going over the history and then you have and extra free hour to walk around, shop with the vendors there, and take pics. I highly recommend that you haggle and buy souvenirs AT Chichén Itzá ! The guide at the very end of the tour takes you to a gift shop by the cenote but it is astronomically priced ! Trust me prices are cheaper by Chichén Itzá lol i went around all the vendors to ask and compare priced and almost fell out when I saw the prices at the cenote. After Chichén Itzá you will be take to the cenote where you will have 2 hours to swim and eat at the buffet that is included. Food was mid. Not the worst but definitely not the best. Still very grateful this tour came with food though because it kept us going !! lol After the food/ cenote they will take you to the shaman to be blessed. It’s a very nice ceremony! I did not personally participate but I was able to watch others do it. I saw other reviews that stated that the tour could of gone without it but honestly it’s a good way to see a piece of Mayan history on how they perform rituals and heal people. Even though again I did not participate I definitely respect it and loved seeing it. Our tour guide was Pastor and the driver was Gabriel . Both men were amazing and kind ! Pastor was extremely knowledgeable with explaining the history and he had really nice jokes lol
Stunning wonder of the world - Worth it to get up super early!
Nickolaj_J, Feb 2024
Amazing day at Chichen Itza and Cenote Chichikan with Marco as our guide. The day started early from PDC, however it was worth it being some of the first people at Chichen Itza. The setup with the cenote and lunch was great as well. Suggestions to the future: - We would have loved maybe just 30 minutes more at Chichen Itza to explore more on our own. - Have water for the guest in the bus, so you dont have to purchase.
The temple and the cenote were outstanding
Marc_D, Feb 2024
Marco was an outstanding and knowledgable guide! Cenote was an awesome experience. We highly recommend
Worth the early morning wake up
Michele_L, Feb 2024
Definitely worth the early morning wake up. We were ahead of the crowds all day! Martin (our guide) was fabulous and taught us tons about Mayan culture and science and gave us great tips. Would recommend this if you have kids who get up early anyway (gets you out of the way of crowds and out of the heat of the day) or if you just prefer to take a quieter route.
Trip was amazing. Food...

Trip was amazing. Food was really good. Tequila was the best. Marco was amazing. Very helpful and full of knowledge. Cenote was absolutely gorgeous. Well worth it
Wish there was more time at Chichen Itza
Emily_B, Feb 2024
Our tour was rebooked last minute to the similar one with the stop in Valladolid and the afternoon chichen itza visit which was disappointing. The town was kind of silly stop since we were only there for 30min. The cenote stop was also spent mainly being sold souvenirs which was annoying. The chichen itza tour with the English guide was good but waaaaay too little time at the site. Get rid of the town and the souvenirs and we could have spent another 90min there which would have been great. The guides were also very hard to understand. They would switch back and forth from Spanish and English every other word so I couldn't follow a thing. I've done bilingual tours before and they would tell their whole story in one language before switching to the other which made it much better. One of the guides would only say one word in English for every 10 words in spanish so I learned absolutely nothing from him All in all I would probably recommend trying to find a tour that spends more time at the chichen itza.
Amazing Experience
Andrew_k, Feb 2024
Marco was a phenomenal guide, he made the day amazing. It was an early day but I think it was completely worth it to be there first bus at Chichen Itza, we were able to enjoy site before it was crowded with people. The bus was very comfortable and great for napping on.

I’ve toured a lot in my days and it’s always such a treat to be guided by someone like Marco. He was well-versed in Chitzen Itza and Mexican history, but also funny and great storyteller! The site is huge, so this is a highlights tour. The Chenote was nice, the best about both sites were that we beat the crowds due to early start. Also thanks to Enrique our driver, we felt safe and taken care of.
Response from Host, Feb 2024

Transfer from Playa Sel Carmen was smooth and Marco, our guide was excellent. His explanations and demonstrations at Chicken Itza really helped to fully appreciate this wonder. The cenote swim was magical and our small group was friendly and definitely gaupo!! All together a fabulous day. Thank you Marco !
Excellent tour
Carol_L, Jan 2024
Our tour guide, Beto, had a deep knowledge of the ancient Mayan culture as well as the modern one. He clearly explained what we were seeing at the ruins, the reason behind various rituals, and the glifs that are carved into the stones. Our group enjoyed learning how the Mayan numbering system worked. We liked having a private tour because we could set our own pace. It was well worth getting up early! On the negative side, our ticket said that the tour would begin at 5, but later text messages said 6. When I asked for clarification when we should be ready through the chat box, my questions were never answered, so we waited in the lobby for an hour.
Think twice before you book this tour
Anupama_K, Jan 2024
I was supposed to have been picked up from my hotel between 5.25 and 5.30 am. Was waiting from 5.18 am and nobody came to pickup. Sent email and text between 5.22 and 5.28 asking about the pickup. After 5.30, got a message that the transport didn’t find me at the hotel
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Dear Anupama_K, We sincerely apologize for this annoying misunderstanding and are sorry that it prevented you from enjoying this tour. We want to tell you that, when confirming the meeting point, specifications are also made about where we will be waiting for you and we always ask you to take note of this and prepare to start the tour without major complications. We hope you can understand us in this regard and again, we apologize and hope you can give us a second chance to change your perspective. Kind regards from Amigo Tours Team.

Incredible. Marco was amazing. It’s a long drive to and from from Playa del Carmen but worth every minute. Incredible site to visit and getting to experience it with Marco was life changing. Thank you!
Great experience too notch service.
Jaleesa_Z, Jan 2024
Our tour guide Marco was excellent. He was very knowledgeable of the Mayan culture. The luxury bus ride to the beautiful cenote. Excellent service. I highly recommend.
Typical Group tour experience.
Laura_M, Jan 2024
We were picked up at 4:30am from our hotel in a mini bus in which we then picked up two other couples from other hotels along the Riviera Maya area. We then drove for about an hour and met up with the bigger tour bus at a road side rest stop that had picked up the rest of the tour guests in Cancun. It was another hour and a half drive from the rest stop to Chichen Itza. We were the first tour bus in when it opened. This was nice as it wasn't busy. The tour guide was friendly but really kept the group together and wanted to do the tour as he had planned. He discouraged us from going off on our own to take pictures or explore on our own. Not bad just very group tour like when I am used to being a more independent traveler. He also did not allow any time at the end to let us look at the vendors saying they over charge and we can do better at the Cenote. We then drove about 30 minutes to the Cenote, It was my favorite part of the tour. It was beautiful and refreshing. The Tequila tasting was short and sweet, we weren't interested in buying so we left as soon as the four samples were done. The Traditional Lunch was a buffet which was just ok, it had a limited selection of obviously inexpensive to prepare foods. I had hoped for a "traditional Mexican lunch" instead we got pulled pork tacos and lots of pasta and scrambled eggs. When we got the the end we were rushed trough to a 20 minute "shaman" blessing and souvenir shopping that was extremely over priced. We walked away when they wanted $136.00 usd for 3 bracelets which could purchased for about $10 in other markets. The vendor came back and offered to sell them to us for $80 but we again said no. There was very limited selection and I wish I had stepped away from the group and looked around at Chichen Itza which is still probably expensive but with more vendors and with more competition there was likely better pricing and definitely more selection. Next time I will skip the group tour and just arrange transportation on my own. This wasn't a bad tour just typical of the group tour experience where you have to follow the leader and the tour company want you to support their vendors over the ones in the bigger markets.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Dear Laura_M. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the advantage of being the first group to arrive at Chichen Itza, allowing for a less crowded experience. We understand that the group tour dynamic may not be for everyone, as it requires following a set itinerary. We apologize if this aspect of the tour did not fully align with your preferences. We hope that despite the group tour dynamics, you were able to appreciate the wonders of Chichen Itza and the insights shared by our knowledgeable guide. Best Regards from Amigo Tours.
Fascinating tour
Kangwen_L, Jan 2024
Highly recommended. Our tour was led by Marco who makes the tour fun and memorable. We learnt more about fascinating Maya culture and history. Lunch and cenote experience were amazing as well.
Would recommend!

The early start was well worth it to beat the crowds and the heat! Marco was a knowledgeable and fun guide! Chichen Itza and swimming in the cenote was amazing! Would definitely recommend!
Good and bad
Lee_F, Jan 2024
Marco was a great guide. However we had two issues. We were to stop at vallodid, that didn’t happen. Also we were led to a shaman for a ritual which was very offensive. We should not have been subjected to that.
