St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco), often referred to as “the drawing room of Europe,” is one of the most famous squares in Italy. The geographic and cultural heart of Venice—with St. Mark’s Basilica and Doge’s Palace at one end, the campanile towering above, and the colonnaded arcade topped by the Procuratie palaces lining three sides—this elegant piazza is also steeped in history. Settle in at one of the many coveted café tables and watch tourists (and pigeons) pose for photos while you sip a Bellini and soak in the square’s Renaissance splendor.

What are people saying about St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco)

Great Tour!
Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable! Timing was a bit of an issue- our group was late to the gondolas because of a restroom break, so they skipped us. Therefore, they had us wait for a long time, but an impending storm threatened to shut our gondola station down. Thankfully, we were the last group to board a gondola before they closed.

Great guide and tour. The guide (Elena) was raised in Venice and gave us great insights into the daily lives of Venetians. She was very knowledgeable about the venues we toured.
