What To Expect

Spend a day in 'La Serenissima,' the city of bridges and canals, on this action-packed guided day trip to Venice from Milan. After meeting with your host in the center of Milan, hop in a comfortable coach for the 2.5-hour ride. During the journey, learn about the history of Venice or just gaze out the window at the Northern Italian countryside.

Arrive in Venice and get ready for an informative guided 2-hour walking tour. Amble over bridges and along canals. Stand in front of Renaissance palaces and learn their history. Take in the aromas of delicious Venetian fare wafting out of restaurants. Stroll along Riva degli Schiavoni, one of the city's main promenades, and then pass by the legendary Bridge of Sighs connected to the Doge's Palace. Let your guide regale you with tales of the doges of centuries past, as you perambulate into St. Mark's Square.

Stop for some photos in the pigeon-filled square. Stand in front of St. Mark's Basilica, noting its intricate facade. And don't forget to gaze up at the bell tower, a symbol of Venice. Then make your way through the narrow streets again, going over the famed Rialto Bridge, continuing along the Grand Canal to admire the grand mansions that flank the canal.

Visit some lesser-known hidden gems in Venice too! Explore the calli, a maze-like warren of narrow lanes and canals and learn about what life is like here for locals.

Take a break for lunch (at own expense) and then visit a glass-making workshop near St. Marks Square to witness skilled glassmakers plying their trade. After browsing in the gift shop and considering taking a souvenir back to Milan with you, head out on the narrow streets again, making your way for the optional 30-minute gondola ride (at your own expense) through the canals of the city. If you opt for the gondola, hop on the flat-bottomed boat, sit back and enjoy the only-in-Venice ambience.

When the time comes, return to your coach and begin the journey back to Milan.

Nice trip

Overall it is a great trip. The explanation of the Venice history of the tour guide really good and clear. The experience of gondola ride really good but need to prepare cash for it. The fee for gondola ride is not included in the package.
Fascinating Venice from Milan Day trip
Wade_S, Apr 2024
We had an excellent guide that coordinated our logistics and made the experience very easy. Venice was awesome. The time allotted gave the traveler time for a sample of Venice. There were tons of tourists everywhere so I think this tour was just the right plan for me.

Amazing Venice Tour

5 stars for Najma and Lorenzo! They made sure everyone knew where they were going and that things are kept on time, which is important since Venice is quite far from Milan.
This is crap

I book for hotel pick up and was never picked up I need my money back . This is very frustrating I had to book with another agent
Beautiful experience

Oh my goodness this was a great trip. The guides wanted to make sure we were having a good time. The tour guide in Venice was so funny and very knowledgeable. We went the first week of March which is not in season. I would not want to go in the summer with crowds as there is only so much room in this area.
Awesome, but…

The Venice day trip was great! Awesome guide! Salvatore, our guide was really awesome! The Zani tours in Milan which viator partnered with weren’t that great! They were rude and unempathetic. Also the bus to Venice did not have working power outlet. For this long tour. The bus must have working outlets to charge phone etc. The hotel pickup was great, but they picked up an hour earlier and made us wait on the road as the tour start time wasn’t until then. But bec if a great guide, id still give five stars. Could not have asked for more!!
Awesome Venice tour

Very good experience, the only problem that a microphone for a local guide was not working good. The trip organazer Alexandro was very informative, and the driver was great.
Lost in venice
Thomas_J, Nov 2023
The city itself was beautiful, and surreal. The trip was very long, quite boring and they left 5 of us in Venice. I as a blind person requested assistance but absolutely none was given apart from some other guests on the trip. I was left to my own devices in the first stop to get food and drink, and we were informed about a gondola ride. The ride was cash only and again no one helped me get cash but just told me to go to cash machines or currency exchange. Not really the help I needed but I managed. The tour of the glass making factory was a quick 2/3 minute demo of something being made and then a tour of everything you can buy, more of a sales pitch rather than insight into making etc. We were made aware of some points of attraction but was quite misinformed. We were recommended several times to visit the realtor bridge as it was “10 minutes away from pick up point” we went on recommendation and that’s how we became lost and stranded in Venice. I was phoned by the company but there was no help really as with my sight issue they couldn’t help. They pin pointed me but said I was too far away to help me so they had to leave me. I managed to get to the station with the help of a street vendor and caught the train back to my hotel at a cost of €59. This was actually better in the end as even though I’d paid for “pick up and drop off” we were informed they don’t actually drop you off, so it’s more like pick up service. As you can tell here it’s more about getting you there rather than much else. I’d definitely recommend going to Venice but maybe plan your own trip. I don’t really know if it’s viatours issue or the company they use in Milan but I’d definitely not recommend the Milan company.
Beautiful Venice
Angel_S, Nov 2023
Our guide Salvator was amazing and quite the history buff. We really enjoyed learning while we took the bus to Venice. Everything was explained very well in terms of what to expect. He gave us a heads-up on bathrooms and even offered to let me have a coin to go to the paid one. Once we arrived where the busses parked we took a ferry and then walked to St Mark's square. Our tour guide within Venice was very funny and engaging. We saw a glass blowing demonstration. We had some free time to walk about. We took a gondola ride, it felt too short. It was very crowded but we were able to sit and have a bite at a cafe and get some stuff from the vendors. Its a very beautiful place to visit.
Really enjoyed our Venice day trip!

St Marco Square and gondola ride was the most memorable experiences. All tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend this company to a friend!
Almost perfect
Charnsilp_S, Nov 2023
Reason I gave 4 stars because no confirmation about pick up at Hotel … said 6:00 am but driver showed up at 6:30 am … second of all, said pick and drop off at hotel but after the trip no drop off service and had to find the way back to hotel at night On the Venice… took so long on Murano glass factory … a bit boring Gondola ride was not too bad Free Time for site seeing is good for walk around and lunch Overall recommended but be aware about things above
Basically a day on a bus
ADELLE_C, Oct 2023
Venice is a beautiful city but we spent most of the day on the bus. We left our hotel at 6am and didn’t get back until 10p but only spent 3 hrs in Venice. There is a lot of traffic that slows down the ride. The bus driver has to stop for 30 minutes after driving for so long. The company picked us up at our hotel but then doesn’t take you back to the hotel, it drops you off at their office in the middle of Central Milan. It is then up to you to figure out how to get back to your hotel. In Venice, the guide walked us into town and then it was on your own. We didn’t learn anything about the buildings or area we saw. Overall I was very disappointed with this trip and felt I spent a lot of money to sit on a bus for 10 hrs.
A Day in Venice
Alveta_M, Oct 2023
Historic sites/ buildings were awesome to visit. Gondola boat ride is a must! Day trip goes by fast.
Love and beautiful to visit, would not want to live there....lol
Francine_R, Oct 2023
I loved the narrow "streets" and canals. The gondola ride was the most memorable. Of course crowded since it is a popular city. Quite a journey from Milano, would do it from a closer city than Milan We left at 6 a.m. and got back to our hotel at 11 p.,. Not Viator's fault, Congested highways and a few accidents on the road which slowed down the traffic.
Horrible Experience
Pitamber_S, Oct 2023
It was very bad experience. The tour guide was very rude. I would not recommend this service to anyone.
Venice amazing, tour guide a jerk
Lisa_B, Oct 2023
Venice was amazing. We had lunch at Osteria Enoteca San Marco - authentic and excellent Venetian dishes. Our tour guide was rude, stopped for very short bathroom breaks, almost left an elderly lady behind (after head count) and took us on a forced march across Venice- we could not take photos or even catch our breath-the ear phones worked on and off, and he lost half the group at one point. After that, we were just hot (in late Oct) and exhausted. Not enjoyable. Just glad we found an authentic restaurant instead of the pizza place he recommended. The gondoliers are professional and very good at navigating the narrow canals - worth the 25 EUR each for a 20 minute cruise just to see them in action. Tour guide left a few people behind on the boat ride back. They had to catch another boat and barely caught back up to our bus.
Seeing Venice

Venice is mind blowing. Amazing city. The guide was informative and explained many details about the city and its story.
Disappointed in the Customer Service
Shawnrell_B, Oct 2023
We purchased the hotel pick-up service. As I greeted and smiled at the hotel pick-up driver, I did not get that response in return. However, the driver who drove us from Milan to Venice was great; he was friendly and respectful. The tour guide was informative but not personable. He treated some guests differently. For example, I asked him if I could pay him USD cash for the gondola ride because we didn't have enough Euros. He said no, however, we saw him allow other guests to pay him in USD. When my wife informed him of this, he again told us no but later came to us and accepted our USD cash. We stopped at a store to get breakfast and use the restroom in which I was given my food on a napkin while others were given a plate.
