The Cathedral of Florence is an “operating” church that can be closed to visitors for any liturgical reason, even without warning (for the funeral of a Cardinal, for example)
Consider leaving a buffer before your next tour as the Cupola climb may take longer than expected
Please be aware that the off season is an opportunity for restoration work, often unannounced.

Visitors are advised that the Baptistery is undergoing restoration of the mosaics of the vault. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Entry to the Cathedral is not guaranteed as the Cathedral is a working church and hours can change without notice due to liturgical or other reasons. Our guides make every effort to enter the Cathedral with guests.
Please note that backpacks of any size or dimension, and any bag designed to be worn on the back, are not allowed.
Florence can be very warm in the summer. Please be advised that this tour includes portions that are outside and could be in the full sun. Please bring a hat, small umbrella, or sunscreen if you are sensitive to the sun.
Clients must arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start of the tour. This is due to the timed entry of the tickets.
Tickets are timed and expire within 5 to 10 minutes.
Please be advised that it is not possible to join the tour after it has commenced.
There are 463 steps to climb the dome at the end of the tour (and no elevator).
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 12 travelers

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Excellent tour! Eliana(sp?) was really terrific as a guide. She was so well prepared and knowledgeable. The only problem was the audio, which was static sometimes to the point of incoherence. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly loved this tour. We were 13 people with our guide, Chiara, who was a native Florentine and art expert. You get so much information from this visit. You begin at the Baptistry, which is currently under renewal so scaffolding covers the dome, but lots to learn from Chiara inside it. Then we went to the museum which houses many of the original sculptures and doors of the Duomo to protect them forever, so the ones you see on the exterior of the Duomo are replicas. We spent a good hour in the museum as there is much to see including the incredible Pieta that Michaelangelo sculpted before his death and a magnificent Donatello sculpture. Then we walked outside to discuss the exterior architecture. Finally, we climbed the stairs to the dome (436 steps, I think it was, seriously). We ended up inside the church to look at from the ground floor, and ended finally with a visit to beneath the floor of the Duomo to see the original stones of the ancient churches that originally were built prior to the current structure. Well worth the money.

Although the tour was great, there was an issue and misunderstanding of the tickets to the museum portion of the tour. First, the tour guide was great. She was a wealth of knowledge. However, we were 45 minutes into the tour and were still on the first room of the museum. We Downey way to much time in the first room. At that point, we rushed through a couple more rooms and then were told we needed to go get in line to enter the cathedral. I asked were there more rooms i the museum and she said yes there were 2 other floors and that we would come back after our tour and finish touring the museum on our own. No big deal except for the fact that when we went back out tickets no longer worked. They are a 1 time use ticket which is not what we were told. The cathedral and Dome climb was spectacular. Overall, a good tour but we missed out on most of the museum.

This was one of the best tours of our trip. Raynardo was personable and very knowledgeable about the history. The view from the top of the dome was incredible. I was nervous about being claustrophobic and being slow on the climb but this was not a problem at all. Easy to get up and down. Loved going through the museum and Baptistry as well. Going below ground to see archeology details was interesting.

Excellent tour with an informative guide. We expected great views and we got that plus we leanred a lot aling the way. This tour gave us access to everything including the climb to the top of the Dome. We found out the ticket is good for three days which is nice to go back later on your own. During November it is not extremely crowded which we enjoyed.
