This was an amazing tour! We were able to see multiple unique towns in the Val d'Orcia and try delicious wine and food. Our guide provided great information and stories throughout our day. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in exploring Tuscany without the need to rent a car (or wander around somewhat lost).

    Beautiful Place, misleading description
    Anshul_S, Apr 2023
The Trip description is misleading. Firstly, we were not informed that many passengers would be picked up on the way from Pisa, and then they would be dropped first before leaving the Florence passengers. The pick up point of this tour at Florence is very far. Also, the pictures in viator are misleading. While it was said that the tour would be through winery at Montalcino, and with picture of Mario at his wineyard, we were instead taken to wine storage cellar at Montalpulciano. The tour guide herself stated that these pictures are old and not what they do.

It was the worst tour I've ever been on. It gives you the impression that it'll be a relaxing day of tastings but we spent more time in the car with a guide who has limited English skills. The van we rode in wasn't comfortable, the driver missed an exit because he and the guide we're chatting (or he was on the phone) and the guide didn't have any recommendations on where to go for tastings on our own. The description also didn't mention that there's a lot of walking uphill so I didn't wear the right shoes for it. If I knew this was how it was going to be, I would have gone with another tour. You're basically only paying for one tasting and a ride to different small towns. For that price, I could've arranged my own transportation because there was no benefit having a guide. He was also the last person we had to wait for on one stop. What a joke!

    Breathtaking Montepulciano and Montalcino

Location to connect with my tour - Easy to find location if you learn to use Trams - Used T1 from Florence SMN going towards Villa Constanza - got down Porta Al Prato - and the pickup was diagonally opposite — Checkin - Smooth and Fast. — Tour Guides & Tour - 1. We had literally a united nation traveling with us so there were tour details explained in multiple languages - 2. Serena who guided us in English was knowledgeable and helpful 3. Tour started in Montalcino winery - excellent options of wine tasting - sadly we were given just a 15 mins break in Montalcino 4. Next stop was Pienza - I would have liked to bypass that town altogether as found it very ordinary - wish we had more time in Montalcino - Pienza was a longer break as it was also a lunch stop 4. Montepulciano is as breathtaking as described and we reached there in the later part of the afternoon - the time given passed really fast - as there is just plenty to see - Montepulciano is definitely a no no for any one with issues in walking - as every lane is a steep climb up or down - and yes it is very easy to get lost here.
    Not worth it

Expect your bus to be an hour late, your driver to get lost, multiple language groups combined on one bus but hardly any commentary from guide. Main guide, Edgar, appeared bored and tired of all the tourists. I asked for his recommendation about getting a quick bite to eat since we were so short on time in each village and a very arrogant response “this is just like any other place, but smaller, of course there are places to eat.” Wow! He didn’t forget to ask for tips multiple times though. Don’t waste your time and money on this one.

We took the tour with Duona and it we had a great time! The tour group was big.. probably about 25-30 people in a coach bus.The cities we visited were beautiful, and the wine tastings were fun. Perfect tour to take if you want to get to meet fellow travelers as well.

Positives: got to see 3 wonderful Tuscan towns and visited a legend of wine making in the region. Negatives: super rushed, and the tour guide was not engaging - he was more like a bored chaperone than an actual guide. Everywhere we went, we had less than an hour to explore. I realize that we covered a lot of area, but this tour could have been designed a lot better and it was a shame that we didn't get much time to spend anywhere, nor had much time to grab a decent lunch.

Tour guide Edward was fantastic. He was super knowledgable, lively, and kind. We really enjoyed having him as our host for the tour. This trip was perfect for our needs. We only had a few days in Florence and really wanted to visit more of Tuscany. This trip allowed us to see Pienza, Montepulciano, and Montalcino. For those expecting to spend a long time in each of those towns, please note this is not the tour for you. Packing 3 towns into one day is a feat, one this tour covers well, but you will feel rushed. We had under an hour in Pienza, for example. The tours of the two wineries though, especially the on in Montalcino, made the tour. They were generous with the wine tastings and the accompanying food. And you learned a lot. I'd recommend this tour if you want to get a taste of Southern Tuscany accompanied with a guide who really knows his stuff!

Totalling 12 hours, this trip left us with exhausted smiles on our faces. Our guide Fabio was professional, run everything smoothly and had a good command of English. The towns we visited were beautiful and the local produce is excellent. And I will always smile when I remember the owner of the first winery, Mario.

This was a large group tour to three Tuscan towns which included two wine tastings. The towns visited were Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano. The tour director, Sylvia, was knowledgeable and pleasant and spoke 6 languages! Slightly disappointing was that no time was spent in Montepulciano other than for the wine tasting. It was informative and held in an Etruscan underground in Montepulciano but no time was left to see the town, which I had been hoping to do as part of the tour. Also, with the Tuscan sunflowers in full bloom it would have been nice to stop for a photo op somewhere along the way. Otherwise, it was a good value for the price however next time I might opt for a small group tour at higher cost.

Great tour to see Montepulciano, Montalcino and Pienza in the heart of the Val D'Orcia. Absolutely knockout scenery and home of great Italian red wines. Our tour was early May, 2017 and the major tourist season was just around the corner and the weather was not near to the heat levels of summer. The tour director was very well informed and easy to understand. Stops were good, but not great. Wine- tasting time was a bit rushed. Overall a good value. This is an all day tour. One complaint is that the tour start and finish were spent sitting too long on the bus waiting. Viator could do some work on this shortcoming.

A long day - 12 hours - but this enabled us to enjoy seeing the lovely Tuscan countryside and to visit three pretty towns: Montecino, Prienza and Montepulciano. We were collected at exactly the predicted time from our hotel. The coach was probably the most comfortable we have ever travelled in and the driver was excellent. Our Guide was also very good - informative and a good command of English. She ensured everything ran to schedule. The second wine tasting was much better than the first where the wines were disappointing. Overall, a really good day out and good value for money.

If you are looking to pack 3 delightful Tuscan cities in one day, sample wine, do some sightseeing, and buy local cheese and wine, this is the trip for you. It's a long day driving from town to town, but you had an hour at each location and the wineries we visited was very nice. We only had English, Italian, and Spanish tourists, so we got to hear all information in those languages.
