Great Introduction to the City

Carla did an excellent job, bringing the ruins and artifacts to life. Her knowledge of the history and culture of the Aztecs, together with her sense of humor, made the tour fun and informative. This was a perfect way to start our visit to Mexico City.

Hilary was an amazing guide! Warm, incredibly knowledgeable and did a wonderful job of keeping our kids (14 and 11) interested and engaged. I would highly recommend this tour. We learned a lot about Mexico City and the history that has shaped what it is today.

Our guide, Hilary, was very upbeat and an excellent history tour guide. We covered a lot of ground and she accommodated us when we wanted to stop of food or drink or deviate from the set plan. This is a very worthwhile tour for everyone who doesn't know the history and places of the central part of the City.

Our tour of the historic center was fun, educational and enjoyable from start to finish. Silvia opened our minds to many interesting facts about Mexico City’s history. She came equipped with many photos, drawings, maps and other visual aids to enhance our understanding of each chapter in the City’s history. An outstanding feature for us was a stop at the Jesuit high school where Freida Kahlo was a student. As we viewed the beautiful murals painted by the world famous artists, Silvia explained the important place mural art played in Mexico’s political and social evolution during the early 20th century. There were other highlights, too many to mention. Our tour happened to fall on a day when a large demonstration was taking place in the downtown area, but she found ways to be sure the many police barriers that were constructed did not hamper our ability to enjoy all the features of the tour. Very impressive! All in all it was an experience we will always remember.

Great Guide and Great City

We were so lucky to have Silvia as our guide around the center of Mexico City. She is a very proud native of this beautiful and historical city. Her fascination with history in general just adds to her knowledge of Mexico’s beginnings and middle and current state. She is charming and always respectful of her guests’ desires and possible limitations. The tour encompassed close to 10,000 steps or about four miles, but she could have shortened it if anyone had mobility issues. As first time visitors, we came away from the tour feeling both informed and eager to plan a longer visit next time. We hope you take this tour and are lucky enough to have Silvia too!

Alicia Herrera was our guide and she couldn't have made our day any better. Her insight into Mexico's history was just what we needed to enhance the visit. But the best part was our visit to the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Alicia showed us the amazing murals on the second floor and provided some of the most interesting commentary on the murals, especially the Diego Rivera murals. I wouldn't tour these site without a guide like Alicia!!

Fabulous Highlights of Downtown Mexico City Tour!

Alicia (and Brendan) were excellent guides. We visited/experienced: Palacio de Bellas Artes, Plaza de la Constitución (Zocalo), Benito Juárez Hemicycle Monument, Piñatas during Posadas (12-24 December). Our walking tour traced Mexico’s history from the Aztec Templo Mayor via 300 years of Spanish colonialism (1521-1820) to the present. I highly recommend this informative tour. We staid in Hilton Reforma and the tour begins literally there and is an easy walk. You could certainly see the sites for yourself from the outside but you’d miss out in all the very detailed explanations provided by Alicia. Communication prior to the trip was also prompt. We ended up chatting after the tour over coffee in Finca Don Porfirio overlooking the Palacio de Bellas Artes in a wonderful 24C.

Hector and the tour company were very accommodating to organizing the tour as we saw fit and based on the things we wanted to see. Hector had all the necessary knowledge for us to enjoy the day and understand the historical significance of what we were experiencing. This tour was part of the celebration of my 30th birthday and ended with a nightcap of drinks and a special gift from Hector which made my day! We appreciated Hector for such a great day and recommendations to use later in our trip. We highly recommend hector and this walking tour for anyone really wanting to understand how CDMX came to be and see a large majority of sites in one afternoon.

Don't trust this company

The tour guide was super friendly, however, the tour company should have canceled the event due to a historic political march that day in the city center. Tens of thousands of people from all over Mexico were bused in for the occasion. Barricades were around all the historical sites so couldn't enter. We pushed through the mob of people to get to the other side and I was robbed in the process. We decided to stop the tour because we just didn't feel safe. I asked for a full refund the tour company, Travelezza, only gave a partial refund. Super disappointed with them.

Worth it

We were paired with Hector for our walking tour, and he was so knowledgeable about the historic center. He was also very accommodating, as we were running late after getting stuck in traffic. We didn’t feel rushed, and he actually offered to show us even more sites even though we went over the allotted time. We learned so much, and it was a perfect introduction to the rest of our time in Mexico City!

Most landmarks closed but still interesting and fun

A lot of landmarks and museums were still closed, which was a bummer, but Alicia was an outstanding tour guide and really made the best of it. She was very knowledgeable and answered questions we had not just about our tour stops but also things about Mexico and Mexico City that only a local would know. Would definitely recommend!

This a a must-see experience, Walking Tour, for any visitor to Mexico City

This was an OUTSTANDING walking tour of Centro Historico. I think ALICIA HERRERA-MORO is the best guide and showed the great beauty and history of the center of Mexico City in a way that left me wanting more than the four hours. This despite the pandemic restrictions on entry into museums, monuments and buildings. Alicia made up for it with her wealth of knowledge and ability to communicate what we were unable to access. Right from Zocalo Plaza, the flagpole, the National Palace, the Templo Mayor historic excavations, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the side chapel, the street scene ( Madero Street included) radiating from the plaza with the buildings and historic churches, the Palace de Bellas Artes, the Post Office, the Supreme Court, and the Tower Alicia conducted a great tour ending with a glimpse of the Reforma. Her love for the city, its history and its people made this an incredible experience. Had the buildings been open this tour could easily be extended to many days, there was so much to see. No visitor to Mexico City should miss taking this Walking Tour of the historic center and hope you get Alicia Herrera-Moro as the guide. This is a 5 star plus tour.
